I took my car recently and the mechanic misplaced the gas cap. You take your car to the auto service shop to get it fixed, not bring it home with new problems. When I went to the shop to check if the gas cap was there, they flat out refused to look for it and instead accused me of losing it. Like I would try to swindle a business for a $30 gas cap. That's less than what I pay for a full tank of gas. There are plenty of good auto service shops in the area that do fantastic work for reasonable prices and have excellent customer service. I will be taking my vehicle to one of those places.

I brought a Tesla Model Y to them in order to have a wheel swapped out and have the front end…read moreinspected. Most folks don't know this, but Performance models of these cars blow through suspensions every ~70k miles or so. Precision charged me for the tire swap (move TPS to new wheel and re-mount on the new wheel), but they also charged me an hour of labor to inspect the front end, something that they already had in clear view when on the lift when they were doing the tire work. However, I was fine with it as long as they did a complete job and reported accurate information. I was planning on having them also replace the main front end components anyway, but they will NOT install any parts that they did not get for your car. Even if they are OEM parts from the manufacturer of your car. (Tesla parts are a PITA to get in a timely fashion sometimes, and having to wait for them to arrive is not a great customer service experience... especially when they are OEM parts. I'm assuming it's not just liability, but that Precision wants the markup on the parts over a providing a good customer service experience.) Precision came back and told me there was nothing wrong with the front end of the vehicle. immediately knew that this was impossible. No Tesla Model Y Performance with the original suspension is fine at 85,000 miles. I asked a buddy at a Porsche dealer to look at the front end and ALL FOUR bushing in the front end components were torn. Literally, if the technician from Precision Auto had looked them, it would have been obvious. If the technician missed it, Precision has a serious issue. I did call them. I asked to speak to the manager. The person that called me back sounded awfully young but listened to me vent and indicated he's refund my money for the inspection. (He took my credit card info for the refund, so fingers crossed there.) I'm really sure based on that experience that Precision Auto is not where you want to go if you have a Tesla. I told them exactly what they needed to look for and I've got to wonder if the server desk told the tech anything that I mentioned. (I do have alot of experience working on cars. I just don't want to do it.) At least they did a good job with the tire... -shrug-

I tried filling each tire with air and only 1 tire would not hold the maximum pressure. After making an appointment with Alex, I dropped the car off so that he could take a look at it. What he discovered was that 2 of the tire sensors needed replacing. He couldn't find any place where the tire was damaged in any way. But, to be sure, he checked it a couple of times and what he found was correct. He gave me the estimate and I gave him the go ahead to do the work. He mentioned that he would contact me when the car was ready. Sure enough, he called to tell me that the car was ready and gave me the final cost for the repair. I went later that afternoon to pick up the car and returned it to my stepmother. She was elated! I was relieved! I enjoyed driving the car back to her as it was a smooth and quite comfortable ride. Chuck did a bunch of work - bill came to $2200. A week later…read moreI started to notice intermittent A/T shifting problems. After 2 months and reviewing the service manual I discovered that he didn't refill the ATF after replacing the A/T cooler hose to the radiator! After I put in a quart of ATF everything worked great. The bill shows the repair wrong as "engine oil cooler hoses" (which I don't have) and doesn't show a charge for ATF either. Asked for a partial refund and he said no. He said you should have brought it back sooner - that's a joke since mechanics never find intermittent problems! Plus, I'm not going to waste more of my time there - professional mechanics are supposed to do it right the first time. That's what I'm paying for! Pretty sad that a "professional" mechanic wouldn't refill the ATF after losing some during the repair.
