I didn't get the impression that the previous vet we had gone to loved cats, whereas at Clarksburg Animal Hospital, they do :) We mostly see Dr. Greta, but have also seen Dr. Christy once or twice as well. They always run on time, spend ample time with us (as in, they're never in a rush to go to the next appt, so we can ask all the questions we like), and Dr. Greta always seems to remember our babies' medical history. She must record good notes as well in the medical records, because one time recently, Dr. Greta wasn't in, and we saw Dr. Christy, and Dr. Christy knew exactly what was going on. It's easy to get appointments as well - when it seems like we need to get in urgently, we've always been able to get in the same day... within a few hours. And finally, the office is also very efficient. When we need medical records to be submitted to insurance, they always send them ultra-quickly, which certainly helps with the insurance reimbursements. And it's a nice touch when we have to leave the babies there for dental cleanings, they text us when the procedure is beginning along with a photo of our kitties. We highly recommend Clarksburg Animal Hospital!

When I discovered this, I tried using the hydrogen peroxide/water mixture squirted down his throat, to get him to vomit up the raisins. That wasn't successful, so I started calling emergency vet services. I called poison control, after being unsuccessful in securing help from VRA or Blue Pearl, which are listed as having emergency vets on call. The poison control lady mentioned Clarksburg Animal Hospital, so I called. They said to bring him right in. Time is of the essense in poisoning cases. Raisins harm the dog's kidneys. He was taken right in back, given something to make him throw up, where he gave up 10 raisins, and about an hour later, he was discharged. We went back for 2 more blood work checks, after the weekend,to make sure his kidneys were getting back to normal. Very glad they were available. Toby Mattingly

We took our cat in for her senior exam last year and after the results, our doctor discussed her coming in either in December or January of this year. We got an estimate for the scope of work in early December, which was $425. I called in early January, after the holidays, and the first available appointment that could meet our schedule was in February, and nobody told us that our cat needed to be medicated so they could get a good blood pressure reading. We had to reschedule and brought her in yesterday. The doctor was thorough and we chatted, and then I left and went to pay the bill. The bill was $756 and when I questioned it, the person checking me out just shrugged her shoulders. I got home, looked at the receipt with the breakdown and the estimate and things were added without our knowledge or consent. I then emailed them that I wanted our records after the blood work results were in as we were switching vets. Beware! **Update** I spoke with them and we agreed to a partial refund of what we suggested. The process was still very friendly and mutually respectful and I have updated this back to 4 stars. Just make sure you are read the estimate and make sure they stick to it or at least update you on why it needs to change. We are very upset we needed to switch vets as our cats loved/love it there but sadly it is out of principle.

The good? He performed dental surgery on my cat and there were no post-op issues. My cat was healthy and happy after the vet. The no-so-good? 1) One of the cats they let roam around had an eye infection, I was concerned the cat would spread it but the vets assistant took the cat away when a customer brought it to her attention. 2) If you don't ask enough questions, they'll surprise you with the cost of their services. This can be true of any service but I inquired about their grooming service and comprehensive wellness check. They said it would cost around $600 (because of anesthesia). When I picked him up from his appointment they charged me $1,900!! The vet performed 7 tooth extractions and did not even call to let me know. The vet said to me, "I didn't think money was an issue" Because my pet insurance reimburses me 80%. But I still had to pay up front. I was surprised each tooth cost about $50-$75 and wish they'd been more transparent. They took off $200 to make me "feel better". ALWAYS ASK QUESTIONS and brush your cats coat and teeth so you don't need a vet for that. My lessons have been learned! 3) Another thing to keep in mind. The vet performed the surgery well, Koda had no post-op issues at all! However, because the vet has to stand while operating, he charges more. This is understandable given the vet seems to limp when they walk but again they didn't let me know that beforehand. I would trust them to perform an excellent surgery but ask as many questions about what to expect before you commit.

I watch my animals very closely -- I even have a camera pointed at their litter box -- and the first thing I told the vet, Dr. Castano, was that I suspected a UTI. He was hardly using the litter box, and he'd also urinated a large amount on a blanket, which is very unusual for him. Dr. Castano hardly documented any of what I told her, despite the fact that I explained I monitor my animals closely and know his patterns. She came out and told us the urinalysis was done and it was "fine," and that his abdomen was "fine" on palpation. We later learned neither was true -- her own notes said she couldn't get a urine sample and that his abdomen was tight, the opposite of what she told us in person. Instead of the UTI test I'd specifically requested, she pivoted to concern about a possible obstruction and recommended further testing and an overnight stay. We declined the overnight stay because of cost and because Zorro is a very anxious cat who does worse away from home and his mom. We dropped him off again at 9 AM the next morning for a scheduled sonogram. The sonographer, a traveling contractor, was on vacation and never showed. There were two failed attempts to find a replacement, with the cost rising roughly $300 with each call. By early afternoon, the front desk said they were trying to get him to eat, which meant the sonogram couldn't happen anyway, so we went to retrieve him. We then waited two hours in the waiting room before finally speaking with the practice owner, Dr. Walcoff. That's when I learned the urinalysis from the night before had never actually been performed. When I explained that the entire reason for the visit was a suspected UTI, Dr. Walcoff was able to obtain a small urine sample himself via ultrasound-guided cystocentesis -- the exact thing that could have been attempted, or at least honestly disclosed as not done, the night before. After waiting almost 3 hours since our arrival the result confirmed blood in his urine, consistent with a UTI. Zorro has been on antibiotics and doing fine since. When I raised this with the practice, I was met with defensiveness -- told it was a "miscommunication," that I must have misheard, or that Dr. Castano was simply more focused on the obstruction concern. I'm an elementary school teacher and my boyfriend is a police officer; we don't fabricate details like camera footage, water intake, or litter box habits. When an owner specifically asks for a test, and is told it was done and normal when it wasn't, that's not a miscommunication -- it's inaccurate documentation and false reassurance, and it delayed treatment for a real infection. I won't be returning, and I'd urge anyone considering this practice to ask to see actual results in writing before accepting a verbal summary.

He started coughing and we scheduled a wellness check but turned out to be a sick visit and they ran tests and considered all possibilities and proposed all possible diagnosis. I thought it was a quick visit but it ended up being 2 hours long. We then got referred to an emergency Pet Hospital where our cat stayed overnight to get more testing and drugs and left with medication. We were crying! A week in, his condition improved. But along the way, we were both novices in administering the oral liquid syringe medication and asked them if NVA could help us and they agreed! It's great to know that they are accommodating. Then an emergency came up and we aren't nearby and my dad has to bring our cat to NVA just to administer the medication. My dad doesn't know how to administer the medication. NVA agreed to help on short notice and show my dad how to do it. Honestly, without NVA, we would be lost and confused on how to take care of our cat. They are thorough and caring for pets and it shows. Even when things were looking grim for us, it was great to know that NVA had our back.
