Adjacent to a public car park and a picturesque picnic site, the Chocolate House has a startling selection of different chocolates, with a vast range of flavours from mango to mandarin. The boxes are a set price or you can buy them by the kilo/pound, quite expensive though, but great for a special gift. The cafe has a good range of hot and cold dishes, such as pancakes, jacket potatoes, tea cakes, homemade soup etc. A good cup of coffee too, strong and flavoursome. The Chocolate House also sells large wall clocks, art pieces, Welsh themed souvenirs, local OS Maps and tourist information leaflets for local attractions. The only slight downside is that the Chocolate House has no toilet, just the slightly grisly public loos across the road.

A rather different mix - a chocolate shop but also a hand-crafted jewellery shop. Something a…read morelittle bit different! The chocolate shop is all about luxury and ideal if you are looking for a special gift or just want to treat yourself (and quite rightly too). The hand-crafted jewellery is by mum and daughter design combo Kathie and Hattie Grimes. The jewellery has a very unique form and delicate. Types of jewellery iclude bracelets, earrings, necklaces and rings. The little showroom/ workshop nestles under the eaves of the Grade 11 listed shop on the first floor. Downstairs is the chocolatier part of the shop with a wide wide range of traditional sweets. My favourite are the chocolate farmyard including a milk chocolate owl, a white chocolate sheep, a white chocolate green frog, a milk hedge hog, two white chocolate pink pigs and two mice, one milk and one white. Although the chocolates are hand made the prices are excellent and I was able to get a selection of 6 chocolates (like Thornton's but a fraction of the price) for just £2.30, I also picked up a couple of gifts for my nieces back home which was great (chocolate is always a good bet). We also had a coffee in the cafe which was again very reasonably priced. The staff are nice and I got the feeling I was served by the owner.

They stock everything from chocolate gin to balsamic vinegar. Not to forget the chocolate itself. There is a wide range of products so you will never be stuck for choice. We took the train from Barmouth here (which was a beautiful ride) to this small beach town. Whenever I see a sign that says homemade ice cream I make a beeline for it. We stopped in here after lunch at a pub down the road a bit. The line was out the door and that is never a bad sign. We both got cones and went and sat down near the sea to enjoy them in the sun. Good quality ice cream on a warm and sunny day. Never a bad thing.

I've always had a huge sweet tooth, and Thornton's chocolates are simply luxurious! This place sells a range of pre boxed chocolate selections, including beautiful rum truffles, a variety of fruit creams, some Belgian recipes and some fantastic white and dark chocolate selections! Thornton's are a big national brand in the confectionary game and their chocolate is always a winner if you're not sure what to buy someone for their birthday or as a stocking filler!
