I've been a member of this credit union for more than 30 years, beginning when it was SECUWA, then through its time as Inspirus, and now as GESA. Always thought they were doing alright, and they did until I needed help. My card was compromised while I was in Mexico. I reported it two days later and the card was stopped and a new one issued. I reported the charge as fradulent at the time, and assumed they had started the investigation. Found out two weeks later that they hadn't started it yet, so we started it then. Two weeks later they closed the case because they claimed they couldn't reach me. My phone shows no record of the attempt to contact me. It just gets worse. It takes at least 20 minutes every time I call to speak with a person, and when I do, they give me the same number to contact which is not being answered so I leave a message and they don't return the call. Now they're saying without a police report they can't pursue the claim. That means the charge is still on our account after two months and we're now being charged interest on it in addition to having our credit score affected. What???? This is terrible and there is no place for me to go to get help. We even drove 75 miles to go into a branch office and that didn't resolve this issue for us. Again, terrible!!!! Staff hold personal grudges against their customers and employee Elaina Ratón is unwilling to provide members with help on one's situation when it comes to conducting business with Gesa. If she is given attitude for her unwillingness to provide any type of assistance whatsoever she makes sure to reflect that on your account. She takes out personal problems with members. Do not recommend any type of business with Gesa if you are looking for assistance regarding payments or any other type of services. Greatly disappointed in this branch. read more

How long is too long to be stuck on hold? I have never taken less than 15 minutes on hold with GESA. It recently took me eight days to execute a wire transfer. External transfers are limited to $10,000 by GESA and take seven days- a transfer not a check. After thirty years. Two mortgages and several cars. I am done. read more

I've been Gesa Credit Union member since 2000, every branch I've been to I've always been treated with respect and greeted with Smile. Recently visited the Gesa on s. 1st st. In Yakima and well to be honest.... first thing I noticed when I walked in was that there was 6 or 7 people in line and only 2 bank tellers and both on the phone. After about a good 20 to 25minutes it was finally my turn,the only reason I waited that long in line and didn't just walk out Like several people were doing was because I had to make a car payment and that was the last day I could do it. To my surprise I was not greeted at all, no hello no nothing much less at least a smile. The teller was so rude that I wanted to walk out and close my account that same day. Which by the way I'm definitely looking forward to. This is the worst bank I've ever set foot in!!! read more

Customer service depends on the day and who you get. It used to be great with Inspirus (SECU of WA). Now it is pretty much like dealing with a big bank and, since my mortgage was sold to Bank of America, I may as well be dealing with one. They find an excuse to charge me a fee nearly every month. I do not recommend this credit union. Go with Solarity or BECU. read more

Stupidly opened an account here summer 2017. The apparently untrained person who opened my account (A young blond, heavy-set woman on 1st ave branch), neglected to connect my savings and checking accounts). This made my overdraft protection I signed up for useless, and caused me untold hours of getting paperwork together for creditors who had tried to access funds through my account while they bounced. I had an auto loan account that I opened in Dec 2016. I missed one payment in Jan 2018. I had made every payment on my account since the missed payment I made the payments on time plus added an extra $100 to each payment thinking I was catching up the missed payment. In Aug 2018 a towing company came and repoed my car. He was extremely rude even tho I handed him the keys. It was a sad sight to see my car leaving, he didn't want to give me time to get my belongings out and said I've taken possession of your vehicle and you can get your stuff at the towing yard. I immediately called gesa to see what was happening. To my surprise the extra $100 I had been paying only went to the remaining balance of the loan. The reason they repoed my car was because I had not paid the missed payment in Jan 2018 and had incurred interest since then on the missed payment The amount needed to get my car back was over $2000 (missed payment, interest on the missed payment and now processing fees) in addition I would also have to pay the towing fee and storage fees to the towing company. (They took car on Friday so couldn't get til Monday) I tried to get them to work with me on a payment plan but they said no. It's all or nothing. I went to towing company to get my belongings back on the Monday after car was taken. I had two bags and my sub that they took out of car. This was almost $120, they charge by bag and daily storage fees. The gentleman that assisted me at the towing company was the only nice person I talked to during this event. Gesa sold my 2017 Honda Civic sport for $17000, I $28000 in all. Now I have an $11000 debt to worry about with no car. Shame on you Gesa! Your a Credit Union which boasts friendliness and willingness to adapt to your customers needs. I am rating them a 1 star because they lack communication. During the home loan process the buyers and ourselves were under the impression of one walk away total and it ended up being $11k shy of what we were told. I believe this was done to just close on the loan, the selling pay off was wrong and we were straight lied to about the inclusion of closing cost. When voicing frustrations the loan officer Laurie did not want to discuss and only push me off. Her manager Dave called me back with in 15 minutes. He understood why I was frustrated but kept giving excuses that held no weight. Not once did they offer a solution to the problem, only more excuses. I believe that Gesa was only interested in closing the loan, not about the lives that they are affecting. Dave made the agreement to try and only get us back the fees of the loans. He had to involve his manager, the fees totaling less than $700... only to call me back 2 days later to tell me that they don't make much money on this loan and that they would do nothing but say sorry. Wow... saying sorry made me feel great! Gesa COST US $11,000 AND COULD CARE LESS!!! GREAT JESTER GESA!! IM SORRY FOR THE ISSUE I CAUSED AS A CUSTOMER...Sad part too, we are in the middle of closing a new home loan with Gesa in the tri cites and they have been great. I was originally going to go with Rocket Mortgage but wanted to keep it local, that's the response I get from that, terrible service and the loss of $11,000. Way to go Gesa Yakima! Terrible! Never again, and hope people think twice about doing business with you guys. read more
