We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Gessel! This office is friendly and professional. Both of my kids were helped greatly by Dr. Gessel. My daughter had trouble chewing and swallowing. Her teeth were a mess and his treatment plan was perfect. Not only is she able to eat without fear of choking, but she has a wonderful toothy smile. I would not hesitate to recommend this office! Just had appt here. The DDS seemed knowledgeable and kind. The office practices need much work. This office insisted they couldn't get ANY sense of my child's needs without obtaining x-rays. They said the x-rays were special, different from what we got done at the regular dentist. The X-ray looked exactly the same as the ones we already had at the regular dentist. If there was any additional information obtained they did not make that clear. They also took a dozen photos of my child which seemed to serve zero purpose, they didn't even comment on them. It felt like a dog and pony show to get us hooked on the idea my child needed orthodontia. read more

Dr. Gessel and his staff are the best! I was referred to this orthodontics by my sister, who is also an Invisalign patient, and couldn't have been more satisfied. It was very easy to set up an appointment with the front desk worker, Tracy. She is incredibly nice and always has such a friendly attitude when greeting me whenever I come in for appointments. All of the dental assistants have been very friendly too and really good at explaining everything to me. After my first consultation, Dr. Gessel referred me to an amazing oral surgeon for my wisdom teeth extraction and a dentist for my regular check-ups. Both in the same building - super convenient! I wish I could add an additional star, just for Dr. Gessel himself! He is incredibly kind, friendly, and genuinely cares so much about his patients' treatments. He also went above and beyond for me; I wasn't sure if I wanted to do IPR or extraction for my Invisalign treatment, so he created a simulation for both and allowed me to decide which one I'd prefer. Where do I even begin... Dr Gessel changed my whole confidence level and actually gave me a new beautiful smile! I had my braces put on in 2018 and due to personal issues I didn't go back for two years I was so embarrassed to show back up again and had so much anxiety but he was very understanding and got me back on track. Not only does him and his staff do amazing work but they are ALL so kind and make u feel heard, understood and comfortable. I just got my braces off which I was so scared due to how long I had them but I LOVE the results. Literally better than I could imagine. Thank you so much to Dr Gessel and his staff! We had an absolutely amazing phase one experience with Gessel Orthodontics. My daughter had an underbite and had to go through an expander, reverse pull head gear, braces and a myobrace. Because she is only 11 years old we will still have to go through a phase 2 in a few years and there is no one I could recommend more for the journey than Dr. Gessel and his staff at this clinic. They made every visit warm, welcoming and informative. Kim did my daughter's appointments with both of the Doctors seeing her. I am very happy our wonderful dentist at Sound Smiles referred us to Gessel for ortho. My daughter is SO happy with her results. It has been a major confidence boost for her. Dr Gessel is literally the best Orthodontist you can ever have! Both my kids have gotten orthodontics care/braces from him and when I say he goes above and beyond for his clients is an understatement! My son had an appointment to tighten his braces and of course all was awesome until an hour after his appointment we were at the store and he broke a bracket causing him pain from the wire jabbing him in the cheek. Long story short. I contacted the office after hours and he texted me directly saying he would open his practice and met with me that same night at his office at 9:30pm to fix it so my son wasn't in anymore pain! They have no idea what they are doing, put my sons braces on wrong, and to high on his teeth. then when we get a referral to get them removed and put back on, they refuse to do so, even though they messed them up in the first place. there is a reason my son's dentist doesn't recommend them anymore read more

My youngest son just finished his 3 year ortho treatment with Dr. Gessel. I have two older sons who had their braces done at a different ortho, and although the experience with their treatments was satisfactory, it was nothing worth leaving a review about. However, I was completely impressed with every aspect of our experience with Dr Gessel and his team. He is a truly compassionate, warm, caring doctor. He goes the extra mile to make his patients feel like they are part of his family. We had everything we needed during my son's entire treatment, with no extra charges. I felt like Dr. Gessel was sincerely invested in making sure that my son had the best outcome, and he included both my son and I in all of the decision-making about treatment. His team was wonderful, always friendly and competent. Dr Gessel also had a party for his patients every year (I'm not sure how things will change now, with Covid) with giveaways and lots of fun. We went to one or two at the skate place in UP. My son had a lot of fun at these events and I thought it was a special thing for Dr Gessel and his team to do for the kids. The waiting room is a good size, with two areas (each with their own TV), along with a separate little play area for younger children. The waiting area was never overly-crowded and the wait times were short. My son was usually called back within about 5-10 minutes of arrival (usually closer to 5 minutes). The parking lot is large and there is plenty of parking. During our last few visits (after Covid), they've had a station set up outside the door to the waiting room, where they take everyone's temperature and provide hand sanitizer prior to anyone entering. There were also less people in the waiting room, and they take you through a separate exit after your appointment. I appreciate all of these safety precautions that they take. I recommend Dr Gessel to anyone for braces! I would return without hesitation if I had any more children that needed them. read more
