AZTEC RECREATION CENTER @ SDSU…read more This gym is available for all San Diego State University students and those who are interested in purchasing the membership. I definitely have enjoyed coming to this gym for the past 3 years as a student. I really like how big the gym is, it has two floors, and they also have areas where you can lift and also join to do classes. The one thing I dislike and lost a star was that it can get VERY overpacked, and that they don't have enough machines for this. There is way too much people waiting on the one machine they have, valley enough treadmills for the amount of students that attend this school. They always run out of paper towels especially when it gets done to the evening crowd. I'd definitely recommend attending an evening time for the gym

The facility upgrades are fantastic, but it's sad that the facilities are no long open 24 hours! I assume it's to allow staff to deep clean the place? There are two main gripes I have about the ARC: 1. The students need to learn how to rerack their dang weights. 2. On weekend nights sometimes the walkways are cluttered with hot dog stands -- including in the bike path near the arena and the ramp to the gym. I don't remember that being an issue pre-COVID. I bike to the ARC to avoid parking, but having to navigate my bike around hot dog carts in a thoroughfare is annoying.

I made a complaint…read morelast weekend about the noise in the morning, left a voicemail and they called me back the next day. Instead of getting defensive or telling me to kick rocks, they listened to my complaint and they were very kind and respectful and I felt heard. I apologized for complaining as I was just having a hard weekend and the noise was overstimulating me. They took my concern seriously and I heard no loud noises this weekend. I hope that one day I might join in on the fun there and go a great workout too. Thank you for listening and being so respectful. Empathy goes a long way!

One of the best personal gym experience I've ever had. It's centrally located on Adam's street and…read morethere's a parking lot attached to the gym for easy parking. The gym focuses in on efficient and proper forms/techniques on all their workouts. The main concept is that all classes are split into 2 types, the "tuff" and "rig". As you guessed it's basically cardio or lift. You can decide what you like to do based on your body and your goals. I've personally have not tried other "similar" type of gyms but from the feedbacks of others I've talked to, this gym's program and setup is one of the most effective. From the owner Rory to the trainers Brooke/Loccy, everyone greets you with a smile and only sends positive support. No judgement on the amount of weight you use nor the amount of reps you can do. As long as you give it your all! It's a pretty even 50/50 split with men and women. Don't be afraid to come check it out! I highly recommend.

There is also an option for highschoolers to workout during the summer for free which is great, but that means the gym fills up quickly and certain equipment might have a long wait. Even though Planet Fitness is known for having the infamous "lunk alarm" and a demeaning attitude, this location was actually very chill. No workers at the front and everyone was minding their own business. The machines were all clean and the gym regulars took their time cleaning after use. Upon entering, there were lots of upper body machines in the open area and several rooms dedicated to legs and core machines. Not a high quantity of machines in general, so adjust your expectations and workout. Despite the cons, I wouldn't discourage beginners from going to this location.

When i got back i searched the app for cancellation. There is no cancellation, it is very hard to cancel. No instructions on how or where to cancel. Called the gym and the peraon was not helpful, she just said that you have to personally go on the gym to cancel. I was very busy that time and now i have the time to call back again after how many months the person who answered made it simple that cancellation was on the website. But still, very hard to find the cancellation button on website! Very frustrating! I did not go to this gym even once but i paid almost 1 year of monthly and the annual fee! I do not recommend this gym, not helpful and they only care about money!

I learned so many tips that I use in my daily life and have found significant improvement in my pain, form, and connection with my body when I lift. As someone who lifted for years and had a small amount of experience with mobility practice, I found the mixture of the two to be amazing in helping me unlearn harmful practices such as lifting until injury. Mikayla is a super star and is amazing at communicating what is needed to do specific exercises in ways that are most effective and pain-free. She was also great at getting me to tell her when something didn't work for my body, which I am not very good at doing. My final note is that this gym was a great in-between for someone that was in pain but not to the extent of needing rehab or PT. While their main focus is pre and postpartum, I, as a 28-year-old with no kids, felt perfectly at home being taught by and surrounded by the amazing women at this facility.
