Whetstone is smaller but that fits me. Weekday mornings there is usually a dozen or so "mature adults'' and it is a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Typically, Folks greet each other even if just to say "good morning". I have had trainers offer suggestions or help even though I am not their client. The facility is well maintained and clean. When Donnie, the owner, is not with a client he is usually checking equipment or cleaning something. He is very concerned with maintaining a high-quality facility. It may not be the place for everyone. I'm just an old guy that feels better when I work out and I think that is common on weekday mornings. I intend to continue going to Whetstone Fitness.

I wish there were more around because I moved out of the area and don't go here anymore. I felt very safe and comfortable and met wonderful individuals during the late nights of working out when I couldn't sleep. It was helpful and a great. I will say that it can be a bit intimidating and the fact that I've been confident and know what I'm doing made things easier.

Case in point, on day one the owner diagnose an issue that I was having with my form for one of the Olympic, weightlifting movements, which another gym in the areas coaches hadn't noticed for seven months, and had led to an injury. Day one Joe diagnosed the problem and it was fixed without me even asking!There are two sides of the gym, dedicated for electric weightlifting on one side, and the other side, high intensity, interval training. This shit is easily accessible, clean, and has easy parking. It is not a globo gym, nor is it simply an iron fitness. There is space for what you need if it's a casino workout, or you're dropping in for open gym or individual weightlifting session. Coaches run classes on time, one hour, which is not the experience that I have had other community style gyms in the past in the area. American flag over the door, attentive coaches and community, never asking for reviews online (a great plus!), accessible in ten minutes or less from JBLM, Lakewood, all the way up to Ruston. She kicks my butt every single time I go in there! But having had a bulging disk in my lower back, she tailors the workouts so I can strengthen those muscles yet not hurt myself. I've been going to Studio Fitness since March, and in those three months I've lost 20 lbs, 6" off my waist, and I just ran my first sub 7:00 mile! I've had memberships at other national gym chains, but never had the desire to make it a regular part of my routine. But now, I really look forward to my gym sessions with Darcy each week. Working out at Studio Fitness has helped me re-adjust my eating habits and get my fitness level up to where I've wished it had been. I write this review on Bo and Fitness Ablaze after working out with him for more than a year now…read more I have had the pleasure (or is it pain?) to attend both his boot camp class and individual training sessions. I was introduced to his class by my wife who loves the structure and accountability that his boot camp provides. My takeaway, as someone who was already going to the gym, is Bo's focus on having you workout with an increased heart rate is really beneficial! My normal gym workouts were like many typical guys where you do a set then take a rest. Bo, who prescribes to the Alwyn Cosgrove workout philosophy, focuses on keeping your heart rate up during the ENTIRE workout. A real challenge even for those of us who were used to a gym routine prior to taking his class. I have been pleased with the results and I feel both healthier and stronger. The good news is the workouts are fairly quick, 40 minutes or so. The challenging news is you will be pushed regardless of your abilities and likely to your limits. And that is the whole point. Your body responds in spades when pushed to its perceived limits. Another feature I have enjoyed about Bo's class is although it is challenging on your body it is typically NOT hard on your body. As someone who has sustained his share of injuries, I can assure you Bo's class is likely not going to injure you. Many of the exercises simply use your own body weight. In addition, Bo pays particular attention to your workout form as well as him having the unique ability to create a workout (even on the fly) around an injury you may have. My final observation that I have noticed with Bo is that his youthful enthusiasm for living a healthy lifestyle tends to rub off on you. Or in this case, on me. It's as if he is not jaded by the litany of excuses one can pour on him and rather he is simply enthused about you becoming a healthier human being. His enthusiasm becomes contagious. You will find yourself in the unique position of actually not wanting to miss a class! I have never seen Bo slack on his focus or determination for helping others improve their health. Ironically he takes our health as seriously as we all should... In conclusion, Bo is willing to help you rise above all the noise society throws at you and really focus on what's important. In this case, it's a focus on you and YOUR health! At the end of the day, what's more important then that?

The class atmosphere was perfect because it enabled everyone to focus on themselves yet be in a group atmosphere with a trainer watching to help correct, help modify and motivate. I woke up Saturday morning feeling good sore and worked. I look forward to becoming a member of this awesome fitness facility!
