I have been a member for 13 years. A few months ago I had to put my membership on hold due to a very bad bike accident. I broke several bones and ribs. I recently visited the gym to start my membership after being cleared from my Doctor. I was advised I owed several late fees and I would have to pay an enrollment fee of $60. I recently received an insurance plan that covers gym memberships. I was excited to learn that Get Fitness in Largo at 13845 Walsingham Rd, Largo, FL accepts my insurance, especially since the gym is conveniently located near my home. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by Abby, who gave me a tour of the facility and made me feel comfortable. After showing my proof of insurance, she asked for my credit card. I asked why it was needed, and she explained that it was standard practice to keep one on file, but she wasn't sure of the specific reasons and offered to check with the owner. The owner then came out, without introducing himself, and spoke to me in an irate manner. He explained that if I were to let someone into the gym after hours, they would need my credit card to charge me directly, since they couldn't bill my insurance company. This, he said, was stated in their contract. I asked to read the contract, but instead of providing it, he told me, "It's not going to work out," and asked me to leave. I've never experienced such hostility in any interaction before. read more

Two nonsupervisory employees and even the manager fraudulently misrepresented the day pass as $10. I was astonished at the brazenness of their mendacity because they were all present when I was about to pay only to see $16. The manager had misrepresented the price two days earlier, but the two other employees had just done so and yet, as if turning on a dime, were all of sudden insisting that the day pass is $15. Well, they didn't get the $15 plus tax, and the business did not get the revenue from an ongoing membership. Pettiness and a habit of lying may be expedient, but the toxic mentality will one day result in customers going to competitors because no one enjoys being that disrespected as to be blatantly lied to. I just love this gym!!! I have only been a member for 6 months but everything is amazing. The gym is so clean! The staff is always walking around wiping off equipment and the floors. The locker room was very clean as well. I just LOVE the Zumba classes with Kim and Lori. They are the best. I am so not coordinated and they made me feel welcome and encourage me to just keep moving. The ladies in the class are so friendly. It feels like a family! I used Jen as a personal trainer and loved her! I made a fb post about the cleanliness of this gym on the equipment and after being a member at the gym for 10 years, my membership was revoked. I actually got a rash from the machines at this gym which is what I posted about. I was also told that my membership was revoked because people complained about what I wear and how I danced and that I danced in between songs at a dance class which doesn't make sense because there are no dress code rules or rules against that so I assume it is because of my fb post about the rash and non cleanliness at this gym. I would highly recommend not going to this gym because obviously if they are kicking people out for the cleanliness of this gym, there are no plans to fix it any time soon if ever!! Update on James Burke's comments: I did get a disgusting red bump itchy rash from their machines that I posted about on fb months earlier so he is not telling the truth. I had to use Ketoconazole cream to get rid of the rash which is prescription only! I always tell the truth!! read more

Once again per the reputation of all gyms, Get Fitness makes it difficult to quit a membership. I signed up for a 6 month Surge membership to go to one class that sounded great. That class has now been cancelled as of the end of the month because there were only 2 of us in it. However, when the other attendee took a vacation, Get Fitness cancelled the class for me without telling me. The trainer is great, the manager is cocky and condescending. Wouldn't agree to any refund of payments or cancel the next pending payment in exchange for the cancelled classes. My only option is to go to other classes that don't appeal to me. Just finished my second year using their monthly membership option. Travel to Indian Shores each February and think it's great I can have a workout place available for a reasonable cost. Chad has created a great customer centric environment. When I rejoined this month I was greeted as if I'd been a member for years. They really made me feel welcome and all the staff were very friendly. Gym is well equipped and not too busy, 9am-12pm timeframe. I found it to be very clean and witnessed staff mopping and vacuuming the floor multiple times. Would recommend to anyone who likes to workout in a well equipped and staff friendly environment. read more

I have been a member for about 7 years now. New gym owners as of June 2020. It has gone downhill ever since and the rates have raised from 120 a year to about 180. Cindy and mike (the previous owners) were absolutely amazing and did a phenomenal job redoing the place, especially the locker rooms. The family and the staff were super friendly and welcoming every single time I would come in. Only thing the new owners brought to the table was a "TOWEL SERVICE"??? it's extremely laughable. right now, the lights are off in one part of the gym at all times, the AC is ridiculously hot, etc. Owner's son (I believe is named James) is very shady, rude and seems very off kilter. I have seen him borderline harass gym members and hover over them during their sets to micromanage them. Maybe worry about fixing the lights, the AC and do your actual job? You can tell the owners clearly know nothing about fitness by looking at them and talking to them. They don't care about members or anything having to do with the overall gym besides their little investment in it. Only benefit to the place is the convenience of it being open 24/7. Don't waste your time here and just go to crunch or esporta fitness. read more

Can private Gyms break age discrimination laws and get away with it?? I would like to address Get Fitness's dress code that was used to single out an individual not adhering to the dress code while others members are not following the dress code, which may be considered age discrimination! We have been members of Get Fitness for 10 Years and never had any issues with the dress code. Evidently, the new owners think the dress code only applies to certain members and not others...? We checked with the frontdesk attendant for a dress code and she was not aware of one. We asked if our outfits were OK for the Gym and she stated they were in line with what other members wear at the gym. We contacted the gym's assistant manager, who stated she had no problem with our Zumba outfits in the gym. However, the Gym's manager (James Burke), overruled their consensus, and gave no reason for the membership to be revoked except "Inability to follow proper dress code".Get Fitness's Dress code in their Terms and Conditions members sign up to states "Members are required to wear gym shorts with Tshirt or sweat suits..... No other clothing will be permitted without specific approval of the club manager". Well it appears that this is not enforced uniformly at the Gym. Most females working out in Get Fitness are in Leggings, Zumba Attire, Sports Bras and even Booty shorts, all against the dress code!. Even the Get Fitness WebSite shows Instructors and members not adhering to the dress code! I would advise that if Get Fitness is not enforcing their dress code uniformly and only picking on certain people for not adhering to the dress code you could be discriminating against certain people especially if it is age related?? Just another reason to stay away from Private Gyms, they think they are exempt from discrimination laws and they make their own rules!!! read more

I like it because it has the equipment that I like to work on and if you need help or questions is always somebody there to help you. And everybody's really friendly also which is important. The only thing that I don't like is that they only have a 10 package deal when you want to trainer. I wanted to get a five pack deal but they don't have it and I think it's important that they do get it because not everybody has money for a 10 pack deal. So let's hope they do something about it read more

Went online to look into this gym a couple of months ago and filled out info. Never received the "phone call" from a fitness coach. TAKE 2: Filled out info again online yesterday and actually got a text from someone to set up a meeting for today. I even received a reminder for today's appointment. Arrived. Waited at front unattended check in counter for 5 mins (no biggie, I pee also so I just figured the person was TCB.). Was invited here by a co-worker for a free session. This was my first time here and boy o boy was it nasty. Ive been to gyms before. Actually use to have a membership to Gold's but now since setting up my own full gym at home I don't go out anymore. So I expect the odor/smell of sweat but right when walking in it was foul. I kept a good composure for my coworker's sake. Started off with the treadmills. They were the older type with simple basic design. No problem. Went to the bathroom and BAM! Crap stench. Someone exploded in the stall...looks like it's been there for awhile. Floors were overflowing with nastys. Went back to work out and 2/3 ellipticals weren't functioning right. Told my coworker had to leave...coins handle it anymore. Gotta go...no no no! read more

The best gym I have been to. My husband and I joined 3 months ago. We also signed up for personal trainers as we had not been to a gym in a long time. My husband works with Jaxon and I work with Jennifer. They are amazing. They are kind and understanding yet persistent in our workout. Personally I am quite out of shape. Jennifer focused on flexibility and stretching and slowly building strength. Grant, the gym manager is quite knowledgeable and explained the different areas of the gym as well as gave us an initial evaluation to see what areas we needed to concentrate. The gym is kept very clean from the equipment to bathrooms. Music is great. We have attended some of the specific group classes (yoga, e-sentrics, etc). More importantly, there are trainers constantly watching and will answer questions as well as help in correcting your form. Come and check it out. PS- the resident pup is a plus too. read more

The new owners are extremely shady. My spouse and I cancelled our memberships on the same day; however, they only processed his cancellation and continued to charge me for my membership. We both communicated with the front desk staff several times that we had already cancelled BOTH memberships, not just his. They assured us it was taken care of. I received a threatening email this week with two options: send the $180 balance to collections or open a new membership to waive the balance. CROOKS!!!! What a bunch of crooks! I worked for a major gym for 11 years and we would never ever even think to run our business this way! I switched over from anytime fitness about 5 months ago and I couldn't be happier. Especially now that they're doing upgrades to the gym. There's tons of machines, huge weight area, TRX stations, and classes. Their prices are very good and the best part is they're 24/7 and if you need to cancel there's no contract break fee and it can be done quickly. read more

This place is a joke. Came in here looking to take a tour and see what they had to offer being new to the area and immediately got pulled into there rooms to receive their horrible sales pitch! They ask you your goals and tell you about there personal training and try to pressure you into signing a contract on the spot. Thy ask you to fill out a questionnaire about what your goals are and to include your phone number, big mistake! DO NOT PUT YOUR PHONE NUMBER! We got harassed by their people for months afterwards! We told them multiple times on the phone to please stop calling us and the guy doesn't listen! The place is real small and packed. And do not have the amenities as other places. Since then I have joined the YMCA, cheaper price with everything you can ever need, no pressure to sign up. Prior to the gym being purchased I signed a 6 month contract for personal training sessions which was to include all aspects of prep for my first bikini competition. The gym has since sold to new owners and I was left high and dry two months before my show (that I had already poured hundreds of dollars in to). I subsequently had to hire a new coach, spending more money. When I asked the new owner, Cindy, to cancel my contract she told me that while the situation was unfortunate she was still going to hold me to my contract, but she was willing to "freeze" the account until I was done with my prep. The greed of the new owners is so appalling. Adding insult to injury she has threatened to send my account to collections, though they have breached the contract I signed. I would highly recommend finding a better gym with more honest and competent owners. read more

Came in after I was called and told I won a free month membership. I was hassled and treated very poorly when I came in to redeem it. They came up with some bogus reasoning why i couldn't use the free membership. They told me I'd have to pay all these fees and basically wasted my time. I was pissed because I took time out of my day to drive by and they were so nice on the phone. I denied the option to join and pay the fees and then was insulted by the guy. One example He told me " you must not care about your health or your body if you don't want to pay " and he just went on and on trying to hassle me. I finally asked to use the bathroom and bolted out of the building almost in tears from the rude comments and being hassled. Never support a business who thinks putting a person down or pressuring them into purchasing a membership is good. F**k this place! I hope the guy who I spoke with rots. read more

Since they've been under new management this gym has been absolutely great! The machines are kept up, and regularly wiped down and the staff are friendly and helpful. If you've been here before I recommend giving it another try and if you've never been then it's definitely worth checking out! read more

I joined in at the beginning of August and I have enjoyed it. There's plenty of different equipment so you rarely have to wait. The group classes are good and the instructors are all really nice, especially Brenda who does PT Circuit and Abs. The personal trainers are a little pushy about selling their services but I understand thats how they make money. It's open from 4:30 am until 11pm Mon- Thurs. I have been in the morning between 8-11 and it's not too crowded and I've been in the evening between 9-11and its not too crowded. I heard its busy around 5-7pm but I have never been during that time. they have all the stuff you need and none of the stuff you don't. Only one shower, no pool, sauna, or tanning beds, just free weights and weight machines and cardio gear, ellipticals, treadmills, and stationary bikes. The price is reasonable and its location is convenient. No contracts, no bs. read more

Largo GetFitness is an affordable and contract free gym. It has all the equipments that most people needed. This place also has Zumba, aerobic, yoga, weight training classes in the mornings and after 5pm. However, there is no swimming pool, sauna, nor daycare. If you don't need all those (pool, sauna, daycare), this is the right gym for you. read more

Favorite gym that I've been to so far. All of the employees are very informative, flexible and helpful. Whenever I need to leave the area for long periods of time, they have no issues freezing my membership which is really helpful. So many issues with this gym (including being screamed at in front of the entire gym by its owner.) My most recent issue, which prompted me to leave Get Fitness for good, was when I attempted to put a freeze on my training in October. Several days before my monthly payment was due, I told my trainer that I needed a freeze on my account. He told me to come in and said we'd take care of it, no problem. He told me when to come in, helped me fill out the proper paperwork and left it for the front desk administrator to process. Several days later, I was charged the $90 for my monthly training fee anyway. My trainer told me the front desk guy had lost my paperwork and never processed it. That front desk employee told me I didn't fill out the paperwork in time anyway, as did the owner, despite my trainer telling me we had taken care of it when we filled out the freeze form. And they refuse to refund my money. The owner and administrators are jerks with no sense of what good customer service looks like, even though they were clearly in the wrong. And the kicker is that after I quit, I received a couple of emails and texts from that same front desk employee offering me special deals if I came back. read more

I have been working out at this gym for years. More recently, I started training with Stephen and he is the best! He has helped me train 4 times a week and not only has my body changed but my anxiety and depression have almost completely gone away. I personally know many trainers at this gym and they are all very knowledgeable in their field and are always there to help out with any questions. I really like the variety of exercise equipment that the gym has especially the TRX machine and the Stairmaster. The atmosphere here is very friendly and I always feel like I am a part of a "family" when I go! read more

The 24hr access is great. Classes are fun and the instructors ensure all can participate with varying formats of each exercise. The owners are great and very customer focused. The trainers are engaging and positive. The gym has a good mix of every demographic. Great mix of free weights, weight machines both hammer strength and cables. Plenty of cardio machines and crossfit apparatus available. Been going here for a few months and have never encountered any over- crowding. Recently moved to the area, found this awesome neighborhood gym! Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. At $10 a month with no long term contract, it's the best deal in town. We decided on the $20 membership because it gave us 24hr gym access, access to the fitness classes, and a free guest pass for when we had friends or family in town. My wife has loved every class she's taken and the instructors create a fun environment. Cool vibe in the place. Highly recommend! read more
