I was…read moreable to parlay a business trip into an extended weekend and having never been to Texas decided to scratch Texas Largemouth fishing off my bucket-list. Setting up my outing was very easy. Ben was very responsive and even though I was setting things up close to my trip he was able to accommodate me. There was some nasty weather forecast so since I had the whole weekend available we decided to play it by ear and make the call to fish the day before. We fished Joe Pool Lake and left the boat dock at sunrise, it was a chilly 33 degrees that morning! We hit some of Ben's favorite spots and it wasnt long before I got the first fish in the boat. I didnt catch any huge fish that day, but I did catch numbers. Long story short we were laughing so much and having such a great time I decided to extend my half-day charter to a full day (thank you Ben for accommodating!) We fished well past sunset as Ben was determined to get me a big bass... alas it wasnt meant to be. Ben has a clean bass-boat in great condition, well organized tackle and higher-end rods and reels. He was very gracious in getting me re-rigged, and unsnagging me while handing me a new rod to use in the meantime. He was able to accommodate my rod/reel preferences as well (spinning, bait-casting, etc.) We fished exclusively artificial lures my trip and he was open me to bringing my own gear also. I am planning on taking my teenage son down to fish some Texas bass and will definitely be seeing Ben's guide services when I do. Thanks Ben!

Besides the pond, the park also has a playground, picnic tables, grills, benches, basketball goals. Unfortunately, they don't have a port-a-potty here so be prepared to go down the street to a gas station. Hopefully, with the $2 million+ in FloMo's Park budget they'll put in a restroom sometime soon. The last time I went fishing here one of the Parks and Recreation board members came by just to check up on their park. The guy was really friendly and told me that the pond was stocked with catfish several months ago and the park hosts a fishing event for kids every year. If you're a persistent fisher, you'll definitely catch at least something. My friends and I have caught few perches, mostly catfish, and unfortunately some turtles. Unhooking turtles is bitch to do, but be prepared to do it. It's really a nice park, so help keep it clean!

Andy Brown is a beautiful space, from the pond to the open fields, the sidewalk/bike path, multiple large pavilions, and fun playground. There are large, mature trees surrounding the park. We parked in the wrong lot and had to walk alongside the gym in order to get to the playground and I couldn't believe how beautiful the pathways were with all the trees and the small creek running alongside. Not what I expected from a city park! The playground itself ("Kid Country") is almost fully enclosed and is a sprawling assortment of things to climb up, swing on, and slide down. There is a play area in the toddler section with storefronts to spark pretend play. The ground is bark. There are large trees in the center of the play area that provide shade and make the play structure look more natural than your typical playground. Almost like a tree house. There are benches scattered throughout the play area and a large covered pavilion with multiple picnic tables underneath. The city of Coppell provides free WiFi there and there were multiple moms with laptops out, working, while their kids played. The only big negative is the distance from the playground to the bathroom. I understand that they probably built the bathrooms more toward the center of the park, but the wise choice would have been to also put an additional small restroom right next to the playground. It's too far of a walk for me to feel comfortable sending my younger kids over there alone and it's kind of a bummer to have to wrangle together the entire group every time one kid has to pee. Otherwise, a fabulous park. LOVE IT. Hats off to you, Coppell!

The chairs are icky, and the place is run down but functioning. We caught nothing and no one else surrounding us was having any luck either. Based on the reviews it seems to be a trend. What gives? They're open 24 hours, so you can easily turn this into a great experience for the family. You get a wrist band that is good for 12 hours, so you can fish, leave and come back and fish some more within the alotted timeframe. I do think they're overpriced, but I also don't know a lot of places like this, so maybe you pay for the rarity. They have AC in the summer and heat in the winter. I'm grateful because it was really cold the night we went, but you wouldn't know unless you decided to fish outdoors. Great option for those who love the sport but have intolerances to certain temperatures, grass allergies, or can't stand for long periods of time.That I can dig. My dad and brother are great fishermen, so I'll probably tag along again and be prepared to wear grungier clothing than last time.

My kids identify this as one of the best splash pads in the area, second only to Oak Hills Park in…read moreCarrollton (which they love because of the slides). It is HUGE - definitely the largest splash pad I've seen in terms of sheer size. It is designed so that the water spouts at the top of the splash pad form a small river that flows down to the lower area, where there are more spouts, plus rocks to climb on and grassy (turf) hills to roll down. My kids like bringing small toys and racing them down the river. The real star here is the shaded observation area for the mamas, though. There is no other park that treats us so well, providing expansive shade tents all the way around the park. There are picnic tables, but for the most part it's BYOC (bring your own chair) - or blanket - and set up shop on the turf, under the shade, in an elevated spot so you can keep an eye on the littles playing below. The bathrooms are new and usually pretty clean, although sometimes they do still smell like a porta potty. The splash pad hours are kind of a bummer, with the water not turning on until 10am. In the peak heat of the summer, we would be there waiting right at 10, but by 12:30 or so the water already felt like bath water - not refreshing and honestly kind of gross. I wish it opened at 8am so we could enjoy it for longer. Now that summer is over, the splash pad is only open on the weekends. They have a super helpful and very clear calendar which posts the hours here: https://www.highlandvillage.org/calendar.aspx?CID=31&showPastEvents=false There is a traditional playground directly adjacent to the splash pad, but it's unremarkable - certainly nothing you'd drive out of your way for. They are supposed to have insurance, well after all that money 5.2 k we paid upfront the boat did not work. While we got a second opinion the guy was let back on our boat and stole some of the part. As well he admitted to it. In addition the office NEVER bothered to check his insurance. He was only insured to do upholstery. So we could not even file with his insurance company nor did Twin Coves take any ownership even though

The other boaters I have met are also just the kind of people you want at your marina. We all talk boats, share tips and some of become good friends.
