My boyfriend and I were looking for a nice area to take the dog with a lake shoreline for her hop in. I had saved this spot a year ago but finally got around to going. It's just over the bridge past the Gaylord so it's a hit of a hidden gem. Such a nice spot! $10 parking fee, but otherwise you can bring your own food, drinks, chairs, etc. Staff was friendly and recommended areas to go to. There's 6 coves with picnic tables and parking at each. We haven't explored the trails yet but they have a full trail of 23 miles and they break out into 2-3 mile loops. We brought our Tommy Bahama chairs and some drinks and enjoyed the nice weather. It was such a nice spot we saw an engagement! They close at 6:30 / 15 min after sunset read more

It's $10 per car to get in, so pack your front seat, your back seat, and your trunk with all of your friends and get a bargain! It's a very nice park near the dam with great lake views. It's good for hiking, picnicking, and they even have kayak and paddle board rentals. There appears to be an "unofficial" swimming area, but I was there in the dead of winter, so I didn't tempt fate and can't provide comments on that. (no camping or boat ramps in this park if you are looking for that) Several reviews mentioned a lot of litter, but I didn't see any litter in the park or along the trails. The trails are fun, with beautiful scenery and plenty of lakeshore views. I would consider the trails *slightly* "moderate." The hiking trail features moderate elevation changes but not overwhelmingly so. The trail connects this park to another park, so if you do your research you might be able to hit the trails for FREE (I saw a couple of free parking areas with access to the trails). Be aware that there are *TONS* of mountain bikers on these trails. The trails are designed to be "one-way" trails. After speaking with several bicyclists though, I received differing opinions regarding which direction hikers should be going. I tried going the same direction as the bikers and also tried going against traffic. I'll be honest, as a hiker I felt a LOT safer going against the biking traffic. There are many curves and hills here and if you aren't watching your back constantly, you risk being run over (if you are a hiker). read more

This is the 2nd time we have rented this location in the last 6 years.. The first time was 2018 for mine and my Husband's wedding.. The second time was for my Son's wedding.. Both times, we loved it.. It is private as well as quiet.. Beautiful scenery with a gorgeous view of Lake Grapevine.. Would recommend this place to anyone who has a large or small event.. $10 for vehicle entry at the front entrance but definitely worth the money if you make a day out of it. Views were beautiful and it wasn't crowded in the morning. Trails both lake side and bike trails were fun to hike. Lots of activities can be done there: kayak rentals (see website for prices), paddle boarding, picnics, biking, swimming, etc. Nice to have a nature getaway so close. I'll start with the good things. There are 7 private coves (with parking, shaded picnic tables and a small beach area). I would recommend to come on a weekday early in the morning if you want some privacy and keep social distance with other groups. For 10$ per car this is a gem. There are so many things you can do such as kayaking, peddle boarding or fishing! Just many fun activities you can during summer! The only downside! It is quite dirty! Lots of trash in the water, outside of the water although I have seen maintenance going around picking up waste. I just don't get it, why ppl. have to leave trash behind! Unless you are physically incapable to use your eye hand coordination and pick up your water bottle, napkin or bottle caps I would say you are pretty selfish, rude and ignorant! Such a shame! This is such a nice spot to spend the day with your family and just have fun but the amount of trash everywhere makes me not want to come back during summer break! Maybe wait until it calms a little down after summer break. read more

Great Place for Little Trekking, Kayaking , Jogging and awesome for photoshoots. The park is huge with well established roads to park at different locations with Restrooms and seating areas which offers good view of lake. Here for my friends gender reveal party and the pics came out great. Entrance is $5 for car , 1$ for bikes.Open from 8am till sunset. For professional photoshoots you need pay $50, which is bit costly. read more

We LOVE our times at the Jackson Pavilion at Rockledge Park! We are a church group and sometimes it's just good to get outdoors! The pavilion offers plenty of space and shade, lots of seating, is always clean, and offers a beautiful view of Lake Grapevine. And, there is plenty of parking. Once our worship service is over, many people love to stay after to picnic, kayak and enjoy the day. We are so glad this place exists (and is quite affordable for a group such as ours). We absolutely loved coming here to see pretty water views. Our dog loved bounding up and down the rocks. We bought an annual membership for $60 and used it multiple times. The pass sticker is only valid for one vehicle. If you want a second car pass sticker the fee is an additional $20. It was totally worth it in order to see pretty sunsets over the lake. read more

We held a Baptism at the Jackson Pavilion in Rockledge Park. The facilities and atmosphere were perfect. We will without doubt return on an annual basis. This day will mark a memorial in many lives that were touched. After baptismal and picnicking with the grill, we all went swimming in the lake. A million thanks! read more

From the Booking process to the actual company picnic this was a fantastic experience. The Jackson Pavilion is in an amazing location with plenty of covered picnic tables. There were enough trash cans that our 65 person catered lunch never filled them all. We will be back!! read more

I found Rockledge Park through Yelp and I'm glad I did! Funny though, none of the locals knew about this place! Haha none of my uber drivers knew. I had two burgers from Whataburger for lunch, so I wanted to walk around and burn off some calories and this was the perfect place! The view was perfect, although I wish I could've stayed until the sunset! I like this place cuz I got to spend some alone time and enjoy the ocean view. Very quiet and worth going to have a little getaway from the city life. read more

Rockledge Park has brand new covered sites along the shores of Lake Grapevine. Best fishing is from the cliffs overlooking the lake. Fish like to hide up under the ledges. Swimming is great in the coves between ledges. My favorite is the first swimming cove along the North Shore Trails, just past Site#2 ...Dog friendly park with a special area for "Off Leash for Dogs" just past Jackson Pavilion. Just ask the Gate Attendant for directions. read more

Hands down the best thing the entire sprawl-loving Dallas/Ft. Worth region has going for it! Excellent for trail running and mt. biking, there are actually some halfway challenging sections. My one lament is the complete lack of any hills, but looking around you realize the tallest (non-building) points in this area are the landfills. Compared to what else is available in the area, the trails at Grapevine lake are stellar. The myth that Texas is a land of big, wide-open spaces, is laughable. I challenge anyone to show me an spot where you can walk 100 yards in any direction and not hit a freeway, road, barbwire fence, new corporate office park, etc. I'm sure once you get away from the DFW region, the myth is real, but there is a solid 100 mile radius of charmless sprawl. Rockledge Park and Grapevine Lake must be lifesavers for people who like to get outdoors like me. If I ever had to move here, I would try to get a place nearby! read more

Rockledge park and Arbor hills nature preserve are probably as good as it gets for a hiking spot in the DFW area. We heard that this place was a mountain biker's haven and we figured that if it's a mountain biker's haven that means we don't have to 'hike' on flat surface. Lo and behold this place was fun enough for us to enjoy our hike with some gentle hills and slopes. We hiked for about 1.5 hours. Don't ask me which trail we took because I have no sense of direction. read more

Love, love, love this place! What a hidden gem in Dallas! We are always looking for things to do outdoors since moving from coastal San Diego and this place has made it to the top of our list! We have a dog who loves the outdoors and has high energy so heading out on the weekends is a must. When we first drove in (and had to pay $5) we were skeptical that it would be that great. Well I am glad we asked her where to hike because she headed us in the right direction. 8.5 miles of trails (for walking and mountain biking) along the lake. We were even able to walk to the water and let our dog swim for awhile. There is a leash rule, but no one was around so we thought what the heck! We held our wedding here and everything was perfect. Peter and his team went out of their way to set up the tables exactly as we hoped. When you decorate the pavilion, it is as beautiful as any other venue, but then you have the beautiful water views, rock outcroppings, and trees that all combine for a picturesque setting. The price is reasonable, parking is ample, and our guests were charmed by it all. The bathrooms were closed for renovation, but the Porta-Potties they brought in were like-new. WoW! This place really does deserve 4.5 stars. It is a cool place to hike or bike ride with lots of adventure and a little danger too. It costs $5 a car to get in the park but it is well worth it. Located on beautiful lake Grapevine the trails follow the edge of the lake. The only thing i dont like about this location is the hikers are on the same trail as the bikers which is a appetite for disaster for the hiker. Be ready to jump out of the way when your hiking. read more

This is a really great place to get away and enjoy the outdoors! I hiked about 8 miles- trails are easy to follow and run close to the lake at all times so if you get hot, jump right in! The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because there was ALOT of trash along the shore- if you have to pay $5 to get in this should go to help maintain the park. - no need to be a seasoned hiker here the only thing I would say to watch out for are rocks , it's easy to turn your ankle! I will deff be back with my pup- we had soo much fun :) read more

We love this park! It's usually pretty busy, but the gorgeous scenery makes up for it. We bring our dog & hike the trails which are mildly challenging but fun. Occasionally we bring our paddle board, there is an excellent place to put in, & if you don't have your own they have rentals available. read more

The park is located on a beautiful spot on Lake Grapevine. It offers great trails, kayak rentals, etc. it needs better maintenance though. Lots of trash on the lakeshore and on the trails. I think people might pick it up if trash cans were located along the trails. The restrooms (port-a-potties) should be cleaned and emptied more often. Since bikes are also using the hiking trails there is a lot of erosio. Not sure how to control this one but it would be sad to lose this spot. read more

Make sure if you decide to pay entrance fee (which is $5) for your car and the car behind you ... To let the other car know. I paid for my car and my sister car behind mine which is a total of $10. I told the money collector he agreed. and I gave him a $20 and he gave me $10 back. My sisters car pulls up and she did not know I paid for her and so she paid $5. The money collector didn't even tell her I paid nor gave her my money back to her. So when we both parked I told her I paid for her car and she said well the guy made her pay again. So we both went up to the guy and confronted him. In a span of 3 minutes from paying to parking he said he forgot and did not recall the situation. Oh and get this he had the adacity to say he trust my word and gave me $5 back when I said its not right how he is doing business. WTF! Otherwise the park is great and worth it! read more

Was out driving last night looking for a place to take pictures of the sun setting over the lake. Drive up and gate is locked and a sign is posted "Park Closed". Researching online today I can find nothing about the closure or how long the park might be closed. Hours are listed as 8am to sunset. I did see on the City of Grapevine site that if you want to take pics you have to sign a contract and pay $50. WTH?! read more

I absolutely love this place! It's the only place I've found in the entire DFW-area that has anything that really looks and FEELS like being "outdoor" (although as a native northern Swede I might be very spoiled, I know...). It's a beautiful park and although it felt really odd having to pay to get access to a park (?!) I just fell in love with it. The water, the cliffs, the forest...well, it's as good as it gets here...it's very nice. Just watch out so you won't be run over by someone on a mountainbike - the trails are small and there's quite few individuals to share them with. :-) read more
