Yes its a restaurant inside the casino. Yes I saw the low ratings before trying it out. We were in the casino and we decided to give this place a try. I ordered the noodle bowl with tofu and veggies. It comes with ice cream and cookies but since neither are vegan I asked the waiter not to bring them. I have had better noodles at pretty much every noodle / pho restaurant I have been to. Maybe there is something else better on the menu. I don't know. But the noodle bowl is surely not worth it.

Dec 27, 2018 - Every Thursday Ajax Downs Casino has steak and lobster for $14.99!!! The wait was long but I killed my time by playing on the slot machines. The steak was a good size and you get two lobster tails. My mom didn't have a lot of meat in one tail but she got more steak. So I don't know if they compensated for the smaller lobster meat. It was a lot of food for me you also get salad and carrot cake.

I co-hosted a golf tournament at a nearby golf course and they didn't have a dining room so we arranged to have our dinner and awards presentations here. Our guests really liked the venue and they enjoyed the food. Our server, whose name I can't remember (sorry) was excellent. He kept our glasses filled, our tables cleaned, and (along with the kitchen staff) kept the buffet topped up. Our buffet menu included: House Salad with 3 assorted dressings Caesar Salad Dinner rolls with butter Roasted Chicken Dijon Au Jus Country Roasted Pork Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni Italian Style Pasta and Meatballs Mediterranean Mashed Potato Rice Pilaf Steamed Seasonal Vegetables Assorted mini cakes, dessert bars, and squares All of the food was very good but I particularly enjoyed the chicken and the Caesar salad. Popular opinion suggests that we do this again - same golf course and same dinner. I agree. BTW, I got a hole-in-one at the tournament!

We got free coupons for a meal at a casino restaurant near Barrie so we stopped by (didn't really gamble, don't worry). Honestly the restaurant atmosphere wasn't super impressive but the food was good and also really affordable! I'm pretty sure this sandwich was under $20, and with the coupons it was even cheaper! The only thing is the casino was in the middle of no where, we turned the wrong way while exiting and it was just a long road surrounded by fields and less than adequate streetlights...

The decor is attractive, reminiscent of an old style diner from the 50s and 60s, with red vinyl seating and checkered floors. The walls are adorned with movie themed posters. With burgers being one of the house specialties, I chose the Messy Burger. It's a 10oz beef patty with sautéed mushrooms, grilled onions, cheddar cheese and drizzled with Caesar dressing. I ordered onion rings on the side. Holy cow! It was served with the oval shaped meat patty overflowing from the bun, smothered with mushrooms, onions, and cheese. I was tempted to cut the meat in half and stack it but decided to eat some of the excess with a knife and fork. Despite the impressive size, the taste of the meat was just average. The onion rings, on the other hand, were very good! They were very crispy and not greasy at all. The service was very friendly and efficient, with everybody smiling and checking on me. Overall, the food was decent and the service was very good. I'll be back.

I noticed Sunset Grill next door. I made a mental note of it and had a late lunch there on Saturday. I parked steps away from the place. There is plenty of parking. I walked in. I saw the sign to seat yourself. I did just that. My first impression was the service. I sat there for five minutes without getting a menu. One server came over and said hi, asked how I was, and then walked away. I still didn't have a menu. Forget about asking for cutlery. I walked in at around 2 pm. There were roughly five tables with folks dining. I wouldn't consider it to be overly hectic. There was a woman sweeping the floors the whole time while I waited for a menu. Interesting. Another server came over and asked what I'd like to drink. Since I visit Sunset Grill fairly regularly, I went with a Diet Coke. When my Diet Coke and glass with ice came, I got a menu. It seemed a bit backwards. Anyway, I was pleased to finally get a menu and decide what I wanted to have. I ordered my usual, which is three slices of French toast, with a side order of corned beef hash. I got brown toast. My meal took no time to make. I was hungry and happy to have food in front of me. The food quality is consistent with Sunset Grill. This place makes French toast so well that you get extra fried egg that is hanging off each slice. I love the extra snack! The corned beef hash had nice crispy parts. So flavourful! I was happy. I asked for the bill. Normally, you pay at the front counter. The server actually came over with a machine, as I used my credit card. It was a nice touch. I also got a lollypop. The women's washroom is a single stall. It was clean and you get a hook on the door. I am hoping that service can improve here. Otherwise, it's a good place to have a late lunch on the weekend. (165)

The rye bread here is the best, thick pumpernickel. A family favourite. The French toast was ranked superior to most by my daughters, and the omelettes are huge, with TONS of filling. I recommended going here instead of Cora's or Denny's (that were in the area) because I went to sunset grill in downtown Toronto and it was great. The restaurant itself was clean and good looking. The servers were all very friendly. But my food was HORRIBLE and the coffee tasted watered down. I ordered the eggs benedict with smoked salmon. The salmon had a funky smell and taste to it. It definitely was not fresh. The eggs were runny and they drowned them in hollandaise sauce. I barely finished half. It was a nightmare to eat and a waste of a meal. The bathrooms also smelled absolutely disgusting. Not sure what cleaning product they used but it smelled like sulfur.

Tips: - This eatery is open till 3:30 pm on weekends…read more - The French connection is excellent, and comes with both sausage links and bacon. - Take care parking nearby, as it's on a tight curve. I'm a bit surprised by the low ratings that this Sunset Grill got in 2024. My experience was the complete opposite. On Saturdays, I run errands, but have kept them closer to home these days. A couple of Saturdays ago, I completed my errands at around 2 pm. I was ready for lunch. I find it a treat to have breakfast in a restaurant. I can have breakfast items any time of day. I was good having breakfast for lunch on this day, for instance. I did a search and found that this Sunset Grill in Pickering was open till 3:30 pm. By the time that I'd get there, I'd have roughly an hour to dine in. It was perfect! I was running errands near the Markham-Pickering border. It took maybe 25 minutes with the congestion on Steeles Avenue East that becomes Taunton Road to arrive here. This eatery is across from Shoppers Drug Mart and next to Pita Pit. Caution is needed when you are driving into this area to park. It's tight and there were two cars trying to move when I was there. I found a parking spot. I backed into it. I then walked through the nice courtyard area to get to the eatery. In the summertime, I can see how popular it would be to dine outside. The courtyard and patio are lovely. I walked in. A nice man, Kayano, who would ultimately be my server, greeted me immediately. I let him know that I'd like to dine in. He said that any table near the window would be good. I liked that I got a view and a ledge to put my purse down. I got a menu. I have my usual order at Sunset Grill. I love French toast and tend to order the French connection. It comes with your choice of eggs, two sausage links, and two slices of bacon. It's the perfect meal. I ordered scrambled eggs for my choice of eggs. I also got a Diet Coke. I like getting a can of Diet Coke here. It automatically comes with a glass with ice. It feels fancy pouring the contents of the can into the glass and having a chilled glass of Diet Coke. So refreshing! It took no time for my meal to arrive. I had maple syrup and ketchup on the table already, so I was ready to eat. This place makes excellent French toast. It was crispy and soft where they should be. I loved smearing butter and pouring maple syrup on each slice. Delicious! The scrambled eggs were perfect. They were yummy, as were the sausage links and bacon. I was a happy camper. I got the bill and paid at the counter. I used a credit card to pay and tip. Done! I used the washroom before I left. It's a single stall for each washroom and a note states this fact on each door for clarity. The one that I used was exceptional clean and pleasant. I finished eating at 3:15 pm. A couple came in and the staff here didn't frown. They were fine having them dine in with fifteen minutes left before this eatery closed. Such professionalism! I had a wonderful experience here. I'd return again when I'm back in the area. (405)

The steak was cooked properly medium rare and the eggs were sunny side up as per order. The potato hash served was not appealing and looked old and dry. I would have preferred the potato latkes or pancake style or these potato cubes. The servers seemed a bit overwhelmed with the volume of diners. They did their best to bring out the orders quickly. The coffee is bottomless here, and they refilled regularly for us. The breakfast menu has great variety to satisfy your hunger. Give them a try.
