    Rob W.

Wanted to share my experience at the Harvey's location in Pickering The location is fairly newish They are located on Bayly just west of Brock Inside is small but there is enough seating for a bite to eat for a fast food restaurant The restaurant is kept up and very clean The staff on hand there are very friendly and helpful You don't get that from many fast food restaurants Food there was great We have frequented there a few times now and we have had no complaints On this occasion we had the two can dine Angus combo which we used a coupon for Value for the meal was worth it Food was good Definitely recommend this location in the Durham area if you want to dine at a Harvey's for a meal

Got the 2 can dine Angus burger combo $16.99 with medium onion rings and fountain drink. Service was friendly and fast. There's a small dining area with tables and chairs. There's a drive thru as well. The mobile pick-up area is right when you walk in. The onion rings weren't too fresh they were stuck together and may have been sitting there for a while. Next time, I hope to get a fresh batch of onion rings. The angus is pretty good, and it was easy to order ahead on the Harvey's app. The burgers here are much better than the other big chain M. They have a value menu and lots of options, including grilled chicken, veggie burgers, and poutines. They have a late night deal classic poutine and medium fountain drink $5.99 + tax after 8pm. Great burgers, but please give me some fresh onion rings and fries next time.

We were greeted and seated quickly and our server Cass was excellent and very attentive in explaining the special and taking our drink order. She came by several times to check up and I appreciate the care. Those soup dumplings arrived and they're still just as much as a knock out as they usually are. Full of flavour, with a kick of spice, I really enjoyed them. The half priced wings were also worth it with a side of fries. I chose the classic buffalo which were spicy in all the right ways. The wings are smaller compared to other Wing places but they compensate by giving more. The fries were truly delicious, crispy and well seasoned. I really enjoyed the fries and typically get them with every meal. My only issue is that the bathrooms require some upkeep and maintenance as there are several pieces that require repair. I don't think the toilet paper holder should be held together by painter's tape. Overall I've been here many times and will come back many times.

I was so thirsty that by the time I chugged 1/3 of my beer, I realized that she had brought a wrong beer. I decided to let it go and just drank the rest. The food did not fare much better as my daughter's pizza flatbread did not taste like it did last time. Maybe a different chef was cooking tonight? My royal Bangkok bowl was tiny in size and all the noodles were broken into small pieces which made it unappetizing. The sauce on it was too sweet and eggy for my taste and I won't be ordering it again. My husband's burger was the best pick of the night. All this for $96 made for a pretty ho hum experience. Next time, I will take a sip of my beer first so I don't get stuck drinking something I did not order.

The accompanying broccolini was way under cooked (the stalks were difficult to chew). Maple bourbon salmon tasted good. The accompanying rice was cool at time of serving. Service: 3/5 The waitress was friendly but not that attentive; had to be prompted for water after the first bottle was provided. One of the meal orders was wrong (completely different dish than was ordered). The restaurant Manager came to apologize, and at the same time asked if the incorrect dish was attempted because it was apparently "delicious". We waited nearly 30 mins for the right dish- which was unfortunately the inedible ribs noted above. Then we waited 20 more minutes for our dessert which was ordered at the beginning with our mains. After 20 mins waiting we decided it was time to call it quits and leave. The waitress was apologetic for the experience. The restaurant Manager however did not stop to speak to us about our experience as we passed him on our way out. This was the worst restaurant experience I've had in years. I absolutely would not return or recommend this restaurant to anyone. Ambiance: 4/5 The restaurant is located on the picturesque waterfront of Pickering. It's beautiful. The noise level however is HIGH. It is very difficult to have a normal level volume conversation. I found myself really having to focus when my parents were speaking. The parking is a nightmare. It's very very tight. Insufficient spaces and getting in/out is interesting but that's not the restaurant's fault- it's just the way it is.

They actually serve 4 eggs which I assume they are using medium sized eggs. That's OK as the extra makes up for the smaller eggs. You get a choice of toast ( white, whole wheat or rye) along with shredded potato hashbrowns or home fries. My mother-in-law ordered the Western Omelet with ham and onion. I was in the eastern end of Scarborough, close to Pickering. I first thought of having breakfast for lunch. I would only have 45 minutes to enjoy my food at the nearest breakfast joint. I felt like a steak. I did a search for Chuck's Roadhouse and this one in Pickering was close by. I drove over there, which took roughly nine minutes. It's located in a small plaza. I managed to find a parking spot fairly close to the entrance. I backed my car into the spot and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a friendly woman. She asked me whether I wanted to sit at the bar or the dining area. I went with the latter. I got a menu. I visit Chuck's regularly that I have my usual order. I got the following items: - Diet Coke - Sirloin and lobster tail meal with mashed potatoes and gravy I upgraded my fries. I got mashed potatoes with gravy instead. I asked for a medium doneness for my steak. I placed my order with Domnica, who was extremely attentive and friendly. I needed to use the washroom. I headed over there, dodging two male servers who were kind to get out of the way. My bladder needed attention after three hours of hydration. The women's washroom was clean. There were three stalls. The one that I used was clean. The lock didn't lock properly, but it was good enough to not let anyone in. I got back to my booth and my Diet Coke was on the table. It was cold, fizzy, and delicious. I ended up having a couple of refills during my time here. It was great that I had a huge screen with four different sports happening. I saw the Colorado Avalanche crush the Detroit Red Wings. The Winnipeg Jets pre-game show was on after a women's tennis match. I watched women's curling from Mississauga. There was Formula 1 racing that I had to ignore because any sport on an ice surface interests me a lot more these days. My server put bottles of Chuck's steak sauce and Heinz ketchup on my table. I didn't use any of them, but was glad that I had options. It didn't take long for my meal to arrive. It looked so good. I was so hungry that I went into devour mode. My steak was excellent. It was seasoned nicely and cooked as I liked it to be. So good! The lobster tail was succulent. The clarified butter was excellent with the lobster tail morsels. Frankly, I ended up dunking everything into the butter. My mashed potatoes were so comforting. I usually pour the gravy over the mashed potatoes. I did the reverse. It was enjoyable dunking mashed potatoes into the flavourful gravy. I also dunked sirloin cubs into the gravy. Yum! The corn was yummy. I'm so glad that it's no longer corn on the cob. It's so much easier shovelling kernels of yumminess into my mouth. My server asked if I wanted anything else. I was stuffed. I got the bill. I paid with a credit card. I held my phone to the payment machine after specifying a tip. Done! I stayed a bit longer to finish my Diet Coke while watching the Jets pre-game show. I then used the washroom before heading out. The scary part was walking into the washroom with three loud women speaking Vietnamese to one another. The oldest woman did not lock her stall properly, so I saw more than I had wanted. What I don't get is that these two woman walked the third woman over to the washroom. They stood in front of the sink. Shouldn't they have noticed that the door was wide open? They were loud talking to one another after this incident. Personally, I would have been mortified if someone had seen me partially naked in a public washroom. I came out of the stall to wash my hands. The two women were staring at me. I stared right back with my you-didn't-help-your-friend-and-I-need-therapy-now stare. They stopped looking at me. So weird. Other than seeing a half-naked woman, I had a great lunch here. (53)

My steak looked great but was cooked much closer to well done than my preferred medium rare. It was tough so I had to have it re-fired. The second one, unfortunately, was closer to blue, with the center being very rare. I ate most of it, not wanting to wait for any longer. Our server was really good, friendly and courteous. I don't frequent Pickering as much as I used to. It was new to me. I flagged checking it out in my head. Last Saturday, I dropped by for a late lunch after completing my errands. My first visit at a Perkins restaurant was in Winnipeg. I loved going there after a midnight shift to get pancakes and more. Sadly, Winnipeg doesn't have any Perkins eateries left. When I lived in the States, there was one Perkins in Rochester, MN. It's still there. I'm so glad. As a resident, I went there for a team lunch and when I was peckish for some breakfast. This eatery is in a plaza. It's next to Shawarma Royale and across from Dairy Queen, which are also new to me. I parked steps away from the entrance. It's wasn't all that busy at 2:30 pm on a Saturday. I walked in. I saw the sign to wait to be seated. I did while taking photos. It didn't take long for a nice woman to come over. She brought me to a booth. I thanked her. This woman wasn't my server, but did get me a Diet Coke. It was a bit off in flavour. I'm not sure if it was the ratio of syrup to carbonated water, or maybe the water. My refill was much better and the carbonation was great. Patricia would end up being my server. She came over and asked if I was ready to order. I was! I got these items: - French toast with scrambled eggs and sausage links - Diet Coke She came over to bring a warm bottle of maple syrup. It was a nice touch. My food didn't take long to arrive. It looked yummy. I thanked her and went to town. The French toast slices were excellent. They had a bit of powdered sugar on top. Not a lot. Just the right amount. I slathered on some butter on each slice and then poured the warm maple syrup on top. Delicious! They were crispy and chewy where they should be. The sausage links were nicely browned and had some nice crispness. Yummy! I liked my scrambled eggs. Perfect! No complaints here. The only downside was that my server didn't really check on me, except for the Diet Coke refill when I was practically done with my meal. She checked on everyone else, which was a bit odd. When I got my drink refill, she gave me my bill. What if I wanted a slice of chocolate french silk pie? You didn't ask. You simply presumed that I was done. I signed up for Perkins rewards. I have some perks that are waiting or me to use. Although Perkins is American, I've noticed that this eatery wants to tell you that it's Canadian-owned. The ketchup in French's, which is Canadian. There's also a huge Canadian flag when you enter this restaurant. I paid at the table. My server gave me the payment machine. I paid with a credit card by tipping and tapping. Done! I used the washroom before I headed home. The washrooms are by the entrance. The women's washroom was clean. The stall that I used was also clean and decent. It's a good Perkins. I'd return for more good eats. I hope that someone checks up on me as much as the other customers in the eatery. (409)

I remembered seeing this Moxie's near Pickle Barrel the last time I was at The Shops at Pickering City Centre (formerly Pickering Town Centre). Moxie's has better happy hour hours than Pickle Barrel. I'd make it to the former for the 2 pm till 5 pm period. It didn't take long for me to drive from eastern Markham to this shopping mall. It's a bit crazy to weave through it, but I got a decent parking spot fairly close to the eatery's entrance. It was raining, so I walked in wearing a hoodie, armed with an umbrella. I was promptly seated at a comfy booth. I was near the washrooms, although I didn't see a sign saying that it was the path to them. Weird. Folks walking in and out of the corridor tipped me off. Daelynn was my server. It was busy at this eatery at around 2:30 pm. She was nice. I do like happy hour menus these days. You can save a bit, which I appreciate. I started with these items: - Diet Coke - Absolut sippin' soda with bellini - Steak frites My boozy bellini soda came to me first. It's basically a slushy bellini soda with Absolut vodka. For $6, it was enjoyable. However, the bellini peachy flavour was subtle. I would have preferred a more bold, juicy peach taste. I got a Diet Coke. It was fizzy and cold. Sadly, it took forever to get a refill from my server. A friendly bartender who happened to walk by to pick up my empty glass offered to fill it up a couple of times. Yay! My steak frites came out. It was so good. It was regularly $38. The happy hour price made it $27. Such a steal these days! I got my steak medium. It had the best chimichurri on top. The steak was perfectly done. Yummy! I got an arugula salad as a side that was unexpected. I tore through it. It was fresh and delicious. I ended up dabbing bites of my salad into the chimichurri. Even my fries went into it. My fries were crispy. It came with ketchup. They were fine, but I loved the arugula salad more. I got dessert. I went with a key lime pie without any whipped cream. It arrived as specified. I love key lime pie. It was tart and yummy. The crust was perfect. It wasn't dry. It wasn't full of moisture. It was perfect. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and tipped. Done! I used the washroom before I left. It was clean and nicely maintained. No issues. If you are tall, you may want to take care getting up from your booth if there's a hanging lamp. I didn't and hit my head on the one above my booth. Luckily, I didn't hit my head on it hard. I'd returned again for more good eats and drinks. Maybe I should try happy hour during the weekday, as it probably won't be as hectic. (174)

Halibut is my favourite fish. I normally do onion rings as the side. I saw sweet potato fries and went it them. My order: - Diet Pepsi (3) - Halibut and sweet potato fries Sadly, this place doesn't have fountain drinks. I was thirsty, which accounted for the first can of Diet Pepsi. My meal was generous in size, which required two more cans to wash everything down. I like that this place has both Coke and Pepsi products. It was also great to get a cup with ice in it. I liked the squeeze bottles containing ketchup and tartar sauce. They were easy to use without shaking a classic ketchup bottle to try and get the ketchup to flow. No mess. Great! I should invest in squeeze bottles at home. I loved my meal. The halibut was crispy and flaky. Delicious! It was my first time having sweet potato fries at any Halibut Fish and Chips eatery. They were excellent. I'd get them again. Coleslaw was a part of my meal. I loved it so much. It was fresh and had the perfect crunch. I polished it off first. I liked dining here.
