I have visited here annually for about 5 years as it is conveniently located in Gettysburg, not 2.5 miles from my home. It is not on a main drag, so no stress trying to get in or out in heavy traffic, andvthe parking lot in the back has ample space. The staff all seem the same over the years ive been going which is a good thing as staff retention says a lot about an organization. I have always seen the same optometrist until my last visit. He was new to me, but was fine. The front staff is always attentive, courteous, and helpful, particularly Katie, and the office manager is swell, but I cant recall her name. I have always felt as though id received a thorough exam upon leaving which is important as I value my vision immensely and want to preserve it as long as possible. Hopefully my eyes last longer than I do! I've gotten new eyeglasses there thrice over the years and have been happy with them. They have a fine selection, and the staff are patient and helpful. Prices are not cheap, however quality eye care is crucial to me as alluded to above, therefore I fell asleep though I have received a "product " of value. This office is extremely outdated and not patient-friendly. I had an overdue balance and attempted to resolve it by sending my information through the mail. I was never told that payments could not be processed that way. I only learned this after calling the office myself. When I then tried to pay over the phone, I was told they needed to contact the eye doctor, who apparently handles billing. In 2026, a medical office that cannot clearly communicate payment methods or process a simple payment efficiently is unacceptable. I take full responsibility for paying late, but once I made the effort to take care of the balance, the office made it unnecessarily difficult. Poor communication, outdated systems, and no consideration for patient convenience. I will not be returning. read more

Worst Eye Care Office EVER!!! Pat and his entire office are totally unprofessional. From the start the staff never listened to my needs. Of course I was upset. We absolutely love Dr.Hsu. After moving to the area, we started going to his office for our family eye care. He is thorough and friendly and caring. They staff is helpful. We like that there's a portal to view your records or download your prescription. We've never felt rushed or not listened to. I have complex eye issues and Sr. Hsu is always patient about answering my questions. read more

When I called to make the appointment for both myself and my children, they asked some of the standard questions like do you currently wear glasses and/or contacts, etc. When I said my daughter wears them occasionally for sports and I would like to start wearing them again occasionally, she was quick to let me know that the doctor only prescribed daily lenses. I wasn't too happy about that (prior to Lasik, I had been a 21-year wearer of monthly lenses with no issues ever). However, I decided to go ahead with the appointments. I explained that I left a prior office because they refused to give me part of my prescription that would allow me to order glasses online. They woman on the phone told me that wasn't right and they couldn't do that. I said I was very happy with glasses online and intended to continue ordering that way. Fast forward to the appointments. Both my daughter and I needed to update our glasses. During both of our appointments I spoke about ordering online and the experience I had at a prior office. Again, I was told that was awful and that they can't do things like that. At check out, we were told the exams were all covered by insurance. One of them offered me a card that gave me their contact prices in case they were competitive enough for me to buy through them rather than online. There were no other statements, comments, nothing from the ladies at the desk regarding glasses - and I believe at that time everyone who was working was up front! When we got home, I set up our portals - I had to do it 3 times even though my kids are minors, they had to have their own portals. I noticed there wasn't a PD measurement with the prescription so I called the office. Then, and only then, did they tell me that they do not give that information out unless you purchase glasses from them. I WAS SO LIVID. After I told them my past experience on the phone before scheduling and then again during the appointments, they practically pulled the same stunt!! When I called them out on it, all she said was "I'm sorry you were not fully informed, but if you want to come back into the office, we can do that measurement for you......for a fee" I do not understand why they were so quick to tell me that the doctor only prescribes daily contacts, but when I said I wanted to order glasses online, they didn't make a peep about not providing me with all the necessary measurements needed to do so (during the exam, the assistant puts you up to all these different machines prior to seeing the doctor, so I had no idea what all measurements they were taking). Needless to say, I will be finding yet another eye doctor. Hopefully a place that is open, honest, and upfront. Not one that thinks they can trick you into buying from them. read more

Most unprofessional staff I have ever layed eyes on. The unprofessional way the apparent office manager yelled at what I assume was a new employee just trying to do the best job yelled creating a seen I felt most sorry for the young lady just trying to do the best she could and had a simple question. Unacceptable. I hope the doctor knows this young lady was doing her best she was very kind to me and pleasant unlike the older person yelling like an idoit, I only hope the doctor reprimanded the lady yelling at this poor girl. That woman should be fired. No professionlism, no class, poor customer service. Definitely would not recommend this eye doctor. read more

I have been going to them for years and never had an issue until now. Apparently, the doctor only prescribes daily contact lenses. These are not only wasteful, they are also very expensive. When asked if they would do the exam and give me my prescription so I could get lenses elsewhere, they said no. I will not be returning. read more

Worst customer service ever. The doctor is fantastic..... his staff however is terrible. I decided to go through my insurance for my glasses this time instead of going somewhere that I could get two pair of glasses and a free eye exam...... BIG mistake. It has now been 3 weeks I still dont have my new glasses. I went in to pick them up last week and the prescription was wrong I was told that there would be a rush put on them and they would be back in a week. I just called to see if they were in and I got an absolute flippant response from the person who is now telling me it wont be until NEXT WEEK. She claims to be the manager. Not caring what so ever that THEY are the ones who have screwed up in the first place. Zero apology even. Worst customer service ever. And before someone responds back trying to turn this on me..... yes I did just now lose my temper and yell at her on the phone....... because when I reminded her that I was told there was supposed to be a rush on this to FIX THEIR MISTAKE....... she said "yeah well ok." That is when I lost my cool. I was patient when I got off work early, because they have very inconvenient hours, to go in there the FIRST time to pick up my glasses and they were not even the right prescription..... I have waited a week since then to even call and check on them. Your attitude and lack of care for my schedule or the fact that I am wearing the wrong prescription and causing headaches just shows that this is just a JOB for you and that you really dont care about your patients health or wellbeing. read more

The bottom line is that my progressive lens did not work. I could not use the reading portion at all. I found out (from another optometrist) that they were set wrong. But what was most aggravating was that when I went back to get them fixed, the Gettysburg Eye Care optometrist told me there was nothing to be done and I should buy a pair of drugstore readers! I now have a good pair from another optometrist--I can read and see afar with ease. I've been ordering glasses for 40 years and never seen such an unsatisfactory product and service by an optometrist. read more

Had a wonderful experience here!! My eye dr was extremely thorough. He went over my prescription change, and explained challenges I might face adjusting to new (weaker) contacts. He also went over some changes (neovascularization) that were happening to my eyes from keeping my contacts in too long, and steps to take to help (wearing my glasses more, performing eye exercises, etc.).
