Dr. Nardis and the staff at Gettysburg American Eyewear are excellent at what they do. I do not now nor have I ever worked here, but I am an American Board of Opticians certified optician, so I know what to look for in an optometrist and optical technicians. I read through other reviews posted here, and they seem fake to me (look at where some of them are posted from!). Bottom line: I wouldn't go anywhere else for my vision/contact lens exam or to get my glasses made, adjusted, etc. Several of my family members also come here, so it's not just me who is very happy with Gettysburg American Eyewear. read more

I would highly recommend American Eyewear! Recently my glasses broke (a screw came out and I was not able to replace it) and I needed to have my glasses repaired quickly. I had not even purchased my glasses at American Eyewear! Despite this, the staff was friendly and pleasant and had my glasses fixed in no time with a new screw, and the repair was done at no charge. They made my day and I will definitely be going to American eyewear for my next pair of glasses! read more

The owner of this American eyewear is so rude. Wanted to get my glasses fixed and purchase a new pair. All she did was give me a hard time about getting my old pair fixed (that I got from her less then 6 months ago but its my first pair, so learning how to care for them). She told me if I didn't like the way she did business to go elsewhere and that's just what I did. Went over near the Weis store what a huge difference. read more

My vision prescription was wrong. He talked about politics the entire time. He kept me trapped there while he talked and talked and talked and I had my contacts out so was basically blind and he wouldn't stop going on about politics. read more

Do not recommend, these store employees think that we are in the apocalypse. Went yesterday to see if I could get my safety glasses fixed. For they are cheaply made. I wasn't wearing a mask(because we are in green phase.) I was treated like a disease she put her hand out then asked for my information. I gave her my information and she said have,a seat, not on the inside of the store but on a bench outside. Locking the door behind her she went for my information. Of course it was past warranty ( isn't everything when you need it fixed.) She argued with me about fixing my glasses then after a back and forth fir about 5 minutes she said she couldn't help me without my work authorization. She did say I could get a new pair for 128 dollars. This is a crappy business if your looking for professional staff I would choose elsewhere. I would not recommend this place to anyone! I have been a customer with American Eyewear for over 10 years ONLY due to convenience and will no longer be using their service. They have not reported anything to my insurance since 2015. They have charged me double for the same procedure due to no documentation (multiple times), the absolute worst customer service, on MULTIPLE occasions that I have needed immediate accommodation they were nothing but combative, argumentative and unprofessional. For being in the health care industry, you would think retaining patients and loyalty would be at the top of your list. If you're even thinking about using them, save yourself some time and a headache and use someone else! read more

I got an incorrect eyeglass prescription from American eyewear Gettysburg Pennsylvania. After trying my new glasses for nearly a week, my eyes were strained from constantly trying to focus. I went back to the optometrist at American eyewear who adjusted my new glasses, but the adjustment made little difference. I went back for third appointment the optometrist was either unable or unwilling to correct the issues I was having. I went for a second opinion with another optometrist who immediately identified the issues that I was having and gave me a new prescription. To the credit of American eyewear they replaced my lenses at no charge to me. My experience with American eyewear may have been a fluke, but if you go there be prepared to shell out for a second opinion. read more

Bate and switch! I don't typically post a complaint, but today I am. American Eye Wear in Gettysburg just presented me with a bate and switch experience. I was shown a pair of sun glasses on two separate occasions and given the same price quote on each occasion. I paid 50% of the quoted price to order the glasses. Today when I returned to pick the glasses up, the balance had nearly doubled. Oh, yeah they offered a deal to make it right that was still well over the original quote. I took a refund, but I will not be returning there for any of my eye care or glasses needs in the future. read more

My husband and I were visiting Gettysburg Pa over Memorial day weekend when he bent/broke his glasses. I called several eye care locations. Not only were they open, but they were very friendly, polite and more than happy to help repair them. The staff worked on his glasses for about 5 minutes. When they came back, my husband said that his glasses felt better than before they were broken! We were more than pleased with our service and would recommend for any future eye care needs. read more
