However, when Dr. Bene entered the patient room he seemed to already be upset and openly berated her for giving my son a sticker before he did his exam. He rudely told my son to give the sticker back because he needed to "earn it." My son gave the assistant the sticker back and Dr. Bene told her it was only to be used as an incentive. she left the room and the doctor was able to do his exam, but the situation already made me uneasy. Upon examining my son's results on the computer he called his assistant back into the office and started questioning her. He said " You need to take a video" and pounded his fist on the desk. The assistant said " I'll redo it" and left the room." At this point I knew the doctor was creating a toxic work environment for his employees. He also probably had a history of being unprofessional and treating his employees this way. The doctor was able to discuss my sons results, but looked irritated that my other level 3 autistic son was making noises. I quickly left the appointment once we were done and Dr. Bene said I could get my sons prescription filled somewhere else. I only needed a routine eye exam for my son, but I think the receptionist incorrectly gave me an appointment with Dr. Bene because I was asked by Dr. Bene who referred me at the end of my appointment. Overall, it was one of the worst experiences I've had at a doctors office with my kids.

I went to Dr. Bene last October for vision problems. He diagnosed me with cataracts. I set up an…read moreappointment in December, which he cancelled because of a "family emergency ". From time to time I would stop in the office and was always given a vague reason why he couldn't schedule me. I haven't heard back from him in 11 months, other than receiving an invoice for $20.00, which I'm refusing to pay because I'm considering medical malpractice. The worst part is I told my daughter to go to see him and he kept referring to her as "honey bunches". This jerk should have his license yanked at a minimum for his medical negligence. Dr. Bene, if you read this, please contact me. I have some choice words for you and the name of my med/mal attorney.

We recently saw Natalie Yealy. She was so nice and patient with my son. The office staff are very…read morefriendly. The office was very clean and set up for kids with a special play room. It's an all around awesome office! Great atmosphere! Would highly recommend. My only thing is I wish they also carried/fitted/ordered kids glasses too. But either way it's a wonderful office!

We were referred to Dr. Schoedel by our family eye doctor because my daughter, who was 9 months old…read moreat the time, was experiencing symptoms of strabismus in both eyes - each would dart in depending on which direction she was looking. The wait was VERY LONG each time we went (at least 45-60 minutes behind schedule), which is difficult with a baby/toddler. Dr. Schoedel seemed very knowledgable so we stayed with her for several months, but from everything we had read and researched, we thought our daughter needed to have surgery. She suggested we try glasses first, so we did, and spent a couple hundred dollars. We went back 6 weeks later, she said it looked like my daughter may be a candidate for surgery, but wanted to try another prescription so we had to buy new lenses. We went back several times, after the glasses did not work, and she said that surgery was the only thing that would work. Of course, we had already paid for several visits and the glasses, second set of lenses (totaling more than $500) and we were now into a new plan year on our health insurance and would have to pay for a large portion of the surgery and anesthesia, and there was a sense of urgency - she said we needed to do it soon so as not to lose anymore time. She scheduled the surgery for three weeks out. Needless to say, we were not thrilled about waiting for so long and then rushed, so we sought a second opinion with Dr. Repka at Johns Hopkins. It's only a 25-30 minute drive south and our experience with him was phenomenal (he did my daughter's surgery). I have several friends who take their kids to Dr. Schoedel and are happy with her care...I just wanted my daughter to have the best care possible, and was very glad I made the decision to see Dr. Repka.
