Ghost Baby is a whole vibe! I'm ALWAYS here for a good vibeeee! Our hotel recommended it, so we decided to pull up after the Miguel concert. When we arrived, security told us reservations were required--but once we explained we were from out of town and didn't know, he let us in. He told my friend that he couldn't wear his jersey inside so my friend took his jersey off and he should have let us in and not him because he had all the stains on his white t-shirt from the night The speakeasy area was fire. There's a reservation-only section in the back with actual tables like a restaurant (cocktails only), and I will be back for that. I noticed the cutest cocktails with little ghosts and fun details, so I asked the bartender about them. She said those are usually just for the reservation section--but she still made one for me anyway I got a blueberry lemon drop and it was sooo good. Everyone was incredibly nice, the atmosphere was perfect, and it's definitely a super cute date-night spot for drinks. 10/10 recommend! read more

Cool place with a vibe that you can't find anywhere else! The drinks are all pretty interesting and the menu is big enough for anyone to find something they like. Just note that there is no food and you need to make a reservation in advance if you really want to go for sure. I went on a Thursday and they had live music, which was an awesome band. The only reason I'm giving four stars is because if you're seated towards the front right by the live music, which I was, it was really difficult to talk to the people around you because the acoustics made it very loud. Overall, it's a really cool, different place to go for a drink or two at night and it's something that I would recommend everybody in Cincinnati try at least once. read more

Ghost Baby is so much fun! We had reservations at 4:15pm on a Saturday to see the 4:30pm show. Four of us were seated in a comfy booth and the server came right over. She was attentive for the entirety of our 1 1/2 hour visit (that's how long you can reserve a table). The drinks were tasty and the jazz trio was good. Ghost baby- was super cute. There are people who open the door for you and lead to take the elevator or the steps. If you choose the steps you will be going down, down and down until you get to your location. The front room is for people to come and just chill if they don't have any reservations. If you have a reservation you have a guaranteed seat with live music in the front. The bar tenders were super friendly. I ordered an espresso martini made with tequila and it was great. I love the name alone. Like who names a place Ghost Baby?! Cool right. And I love the exclusivity of this place. I mean you can tell it's a secret place just from the location and the doorman outside. It's a basement level jazz lounge like 4 flights down and has been around since Prohibition. I was recommended to come here by one of the locals as they said it's a hot spot and has a sexy scene which is very true. Dim lighting. Tasty drinks. There's no video allowed or flash photography. Wasn't sure why. I think because of the age of the place. But thank god for iPhones. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in town. read more

Full two stars for the unique ambience here...the rest? Well, must have been an off night for my visit and my family. Got there around 5:40 for a 6pm reservation, so we needed to wait in the bar area. It was very nice in there, but got quite busy and loud...hard to even hear yourself talk loud. I was happy to get inside for our reservation and we had a great table...but it was so hot in there. Mind you...this is October in Ohio..and it felt like Florida in there...strike one. We all ordered espresso martinis...the price point was good... the pour was not. As I looked around, nearly everyone had a drink poured to the rim...ours were about half full...strike two. Music finally came on after a 45 minute pause...yes you heard it...45 minutes....i am a musician, I know that is way too long to have people wait out sets. We expected something good after a long wait...perhaps some jazz...or a nice acoustic set...nope...for a Saturday night on a home game weekend they brought in a three piece band with...get this....a harmonica, a steel guitar and a guitar player who could not sing for his life. People were leaving in droves....strike three....we followed quickly after and went down to the Hilton where the situation improved drastically!! From the moment you approach that purple light, you know you're in for an amazing evening! The descent down the dark stairway helped build the intrigue. The velvet curtained entrance way and quiet sleekness of the bar felt so luxurious. We were escorted to our table and given a drink menu like none other. This place is known for their cocktails, and amazing music and I would say that neither one disappointed! I had a showstopping margarita and later in the evening, my husband had an espresso martini shot served in a chocolate edible shot glass. The entire experience was so elevated. The 1.5 hours allotted for our table flew by because the drinks were delicious and the musicians were talented as heck and the show was lively. Certainly not a penny pinching experience, so come planning to drop some dough on those drinks. But the entire evening felt special and swanky and worth every dime. read more

If you're looking for a fun date night spot out, or like what we did for a girls night out, Ghost Baby lives up to the hype. The cocktails were a bit too pricey in my opinion, but also the crafted drinks they offer are curated and crafted so well. Service was attentive and our server was quick to make recommendations based upon our tastes. While it was quite loud during the band, and we weren't able to talk, the bar before being seated at a table may be more your speed if you're looking to have a conversation. That said, make sure you get a reservation well in advance. We were able to a few days out, but only limited to 4 or 4:15 pm (which was fine with us), but if you're looking for later, it's worth booking out well in time. read more

First time at Ghost Baby. We really enjoyed the jazz band that was there. They were playing Princess and the frog songs and their singers were absolutely fabulous. The drink I had was very sweet and sour. It was delicious. It tasted just like candy. Our server was nice. Tucked away underground in OTR, you walk down what feels like 100 stairs and suddenly you're in this moody, red-brick bunker that looks like a speakeasy met a jazz cave--in the best way possible. Make a reservation early because this place is tiny and fills up fast. We had a 7:30 spot and it was already packed. The space is split into two rooms: an open bar area and a reserved room with live jazz--and trust me, you want the jazz room. The music was phenomenal and the whole place had such a happy, buzzing energy. We tried the chocolate espresso martini shot--super tasty, but not really a "shot." More like dessert in a tiny chocolate bowl. Cute, but skip it next time. Cocktail highlights: * #7: Mango, mint, lime, orange, and cream--a tropical margarita dream. 10/10, ordering again. * #4: Gin, cherry, lemon, and a buzz button--fun and flavorful. Ghost Baby is situated in the underground lagering tunnels of a Cincinnati brewing company that ceased production in the 1850s. These tunnels, located four stories under Vine Street, remained vacant for over 150 years. As you walk in, you're standing in the Rattle Room, with an ornate bar styled after a baby's rattle. Talk about a VIBE! Book a reservation now to visit this one of a kind speakeasy in the OTR neighborhood of Cincinnati. Our group of six made a reservation for Friday night around 7:45pm. The entrance is very unassuming with a simple purple street light marking the door. The bouncer/door attendant was dressed to the nines wearing a full suit which immediately matched the setting we were about enter. Following a trip down four flights of stairs, you'll arrive at the front bar area. Near the back of the bar is the entrance to the "speakeasy" area. We were sat right away and quickly greeted by our server. We ordered a round of cocktails which also tasted great. The band on stage that evening was "All The Things" which were a weird, quirky, jazzy band which we enjoyed. This is a great option for a elevated date night or evening out of the town with friends. Ghost Baby is more than just a speakeasy with live music and jazzy drinks; it's a historical experience. More than 150 years ago, before refrigeration, brewing companies used underground lagering tunnels for cooling and aging the beer they produced. Ghost Baby is located in the tunnels formerly used by a Cincinnati brewing company; four stories under Vine street. The company discontinued beer production in the 1850's and these tunnels have remained vacant since. In the last few years, Union Hall has occupied the ground level spaces in the building, which spans the block between Vine and Republic streets. In an effort to revitalize the underground area, workmen were sent in to set-up lighting fixtures. The only way to enter into the tunnels was to descend via a long ladder. After installation of the first bare bulb, the contractor made his way back up the ladder to retrieve a second bulb. When he returned, he found the first bulb shattered. The attached wire was swinging, as if it had been hit by someone or something. It's said he shone his flashlight into the dark tunnel, but saw nothing. Since that day, other people in the space have reported hearing strange noises from time to time. Some have even said you can hear a baby crying ... hints the establishment name Ghost Baby. The half-domed clubroom adorned with a velvet-curtained stage is the perfect ambiance for a date night. Reservations are highly recommended. read more

Definitely a unique venue with spooky history and a must-see in Cincinnati. Reservation needed for the room with live music but the bar area outside of that room is beautiful too. FYI: there's no address so look for the blueish round light and the large yet friendly doorman just inside. We took the stairs down and the elevator back up. We made last minute plans for a night away to Cincinnati. Someone posted this place and I looked it up and made the decision immediately this was somewhere I needed to go! What a FABULOUS TIME!!!!! Everything was exactly what we needed for a night out. There was amazing live music, the décor and lighting was dim and beautiful. The cocktails were made to perfection. I could have drank many more if we had more time. We had an early seating around 6:30pm because we had plans to get dinner afterwards.
