Ghost Baby is really cool underground spot. We found out about this place from the bartenders at Agigail Street so we decided to check it out. The entrance is in an alley, you can either use the elevator to get down or walk down the stairs. Shout out to Big T the boucner for being so kind. When you first enter, there is a large bar with its own drink menu, different than whats served inside the music area. You do need reservations to get into the music area, we didnt know that going in since we were from out of town. We were told reservations are made months in advance so we didnt really have high hopes of being able to get it but we were pleasantly surprised. We talked to the hostess and she was able to squeeze us in between reservations which was awesome. The inner bar was awesome, they gave us complimentary mini espresso shots which were served inside these chocolate little boats, so fun. I also had the best drink, #4, inspired by the pornstar martini but purple, it had Ketel One, Licor 43, passion fruit, ube, vanilla, lemon and prosecco. Surely coming into this speakeasy was a great idea! I had plenty to choose from, but this one stuck out. Of course I located on Yelp. Easy to locate, free street parking, safe neighborhood. It's a melting pot for sure. Once we walked in, we were greeting by a gentleman who inquired if we had reservations, yadda yadda yadda. Nah. They had room for us, it was after 12am. We caught the elevator down and ventured in. Great décor and vibe. The bar was lively. We chose the velvet seats against the wall. Hubby and I ordered the following. Ehhhhh, this pains me to have to write this, but it must be done. I have given this place multiple tries, and a few years, to try to get it right, but it just totally misses the mark sadly. The drinks are not interesting or well-made, it is way too loud, the service is extremely poor and all of this honestly ruins the experience. The music talent has also been subpar on every single occasion. My last visit within the last month will definitely be our final visit. A friend requested to go here for his retirement and even though I was skeptical, I made reservations two months in advance. Upon arrival, you aren't greeted welcomed or graciously at the top of the stairs. For a special place of this caliber, do better with your first impression. Upon checking in downstairs, the hostesses couldn't be more bored. Upon being sat at our table, facing the stage in the middle of the room on hard chairs, we requested to move to one of the booths that are more comfortable and clothed. We were there earlier in the evening on a weekday, had a reservation, and there were plenty of booths available. In fact, every single booth was available. We nicely explained that someone in our group had a spinal issue. The hostess, who did not care about much of anything, said those were reserved. We said we had a reservation too. He said if folks did not show up for those he would let us move to one. Did those boots ever get full? No? Did the Host ever check in with us and act like he cared? Also, no. Did we go track him down an hour later when one of our guests was in severe pain asking to be moved? No, we did ask our server, but she made no efforts to help us. So, we left. We did spend an hour listening to the live music. It was a pretty uninteresting show, and no one in the space was even paying attention. That is not usually my experience in most jazz or music venues. The cocktail list was super uninspired by any standard. The cocktails remind me of a cheesy 90s club. I finally ordered a tiny shot of something in a little chocolate shell. The chocolate shell tasted good. Our group had a long history with 1313 Vine. The retiring person in our group used to party in the building above when it was the infamous Warehouse. In 2012, we really enjoyed going into the space as part of the Cincinnati underground tour when it was still a beer tunnel. This is a special space, but the lack of even decent service consistently over the years, poor music talent, and uninteresting drinks are doing this incredible venue, a sincere disservice. Perhaps the novelty of the location makes it easy to overcome all of the above, but not for us. read more

I was extremely disappointed by my experience at Ghost Baby. My partner and his friends were already inside enjoying the bar without a reservation. I arrived separately around 11pm after meeting up with other friends in OTR. When I approached the entrance, the doorman with jeweled sunglasses asked me about a reservation, but I didn't hear his question clearly the first time. Instead of repeating it politely, he responded rudely by saying "answer my question" or something like that. Horrible first impression. He treated me like garbage. At first, I believed my group had a reservation, so I contacted my partner to confirm. Once I learned they did not, the doorman told me they were no longer allowing walk-ins. A few minutes later, my partner and his friends came to the door and confirmed they had entered without a reservation. They asked if I could simply join their group, but he refused and said he wasn't letting me in because he "didn't like my vibe." What made the situation even more frustrating was that people were actively leaving the venue, so capacity didn't appear to be the issue. The doorman never mentioned a dress code issue or any other policy beyond his personal assessment of my "vibe." I saw people coming out wearing basketball shorts. One of my partner's friends even knew the doorman, yet he still refused to let me come inside. I understand and respect businesses enforcing reservation policies, but that explanation doesn't align with what happened here, especially since the group I was joining had already been admitted without a reservation. The interaction felt arbitrary, unprofessional, and unnecessarily disrespectful. Unfortunately, this was my first experience with Ghost Baby, and it will also be my last! read more

My niece made reservations for her 21st birthday. This place did not disappoint. We were greeted by T, very pleasant man that does his job well. We were able sit in the front and ordered drinks with our server also delightful. The drinks were soo good. I wish they offered appetizers but they dont offer food. The performers Mandy and Brian were perfection. It's a small intimate space, gives speakeasy vibes with accessible entrance and an elevator to get to the lower level. We had a great time! It's a cocktail bar that has a few options available. You can just drop in and get a cocktail at the front bar or you can make a reservation and sit in the entertainment area. We made last minute reservations because Jimmy Clepper was playing and asked to be seated near the music. Although the room was packed, we ended up front and center and couldn't have been more grateful. Beverage service was excellent, even keeping the water coming, which makes the evening for me. Cool place with a vibe that you can't find anywhere else! The drinks are all pretty interesting and the menu is big enough for anyone to find something they like. Just note that there is no food and you need to make a reservation in advance if you really want to go for sure. I went on a Thursday and they had live music, which was an awesome band. The only reason I'm giving four stars is because if you're seated towards the front right by the live music, which I was, it was really difficult to talk to the people around you because the acoustics made it very loud. I love the name alone. Like who names a place Ghost Baby?! Cool right. And I love the exclusivity of this place. I mean you can tell it's a secret place just from the location and the doorman outside. It's a basement level jazz lounge like 4 flights down and has been around since Prohibition. I was recommended to come here by one of the locals as they said it's a hot spot and has a sexy scene which is very true. Dim lighting. Tasty drinks. There's no video allowed or flash photography. If you choose the steps you will be going down, down and down until you get to your location. The front room is for people to come and just chill if they don't have any reservations. Full two stars for the unique ambience here...the rest? Well, must have been an off night for my visit and my family. Got there around 5:40 for a 6pm reservation, so we needed to wait in the bar area. It was very nice in there, but got quite busy and loud...hard to even hear yourself talk loud. I was happy to get inside for our reservation and we had a great table...but it was so hot in there. Mind you...this is October in Ohio..and it felt like Florida in there...strike one. We all ordered espresso martinis...the price point was good... the pour was not. As I looked around, nearly everyone had a drink poured to the rim...ours were about half full...strike two. Music finally came on after a 45 minute pause...yes you heard it...45 minutes....i am a musician, I know that is way too long to have people wait out sets. We expected something good after a long wait...perhaps some jazz...or a nice acoustic set...nope...for a Saturday night on a home game weekend they brought in a three piece band with...get this....a harmonica, a steel guitar and a guitar player who could not sing for his life. She was attentive for the entirety of our 1 1/2 hour visit (that's how long you can reserve a table). The drinks were tasty and the jazz trio was good. Ghost Baby is a whole vibe! I'm ALWAYS here for a good vibeeee! Our hotel recommended it, so we decided to pull up after the Miguel concert. When we arrived, security told us reservations were required--but once we explained we were from out of town and didn't know, he let us in. He told my friend that he couldn't wear his jersey inside so my friend took his jersey off and he should have let us in and not him because he had all the stains on his white t-shirt from the night The speakeasy area was fire. There's a reservation-only section in the back with actual tables like a restaurant (cocktails only), and I will be back for that. I noticed the cutest cocktails with little ghosts and fun details, so I asked the bartender about them. She said those are usually just for the reservation section--but she still made one for me anyway I got a blueberry lemon drop and it was sooo good. From the moment you approach that purple light, you know you're in for an amazing evening! The descent down the dark stairway helped build the intrigue. The velvet curtained entrance way and quiet sleekness of the bar felt so luxurious. We were escorted to our table and given a drink menu like none other. This place is known for their cocktails, and amazing music and I would say that neither one disappointed! I had a showstopping margarita and later in the evening, my husband had an espresso martini shot served in a chocolate edible shot glass. The entire experience was so elevated. We stopped by Ghost Baby around 11:45 p.m. and were hoping to grab a seat in the back bar. The hostess told us there would likely be a 15-20 minute wait, which was completely understandable, so we grabbed a drink at the front bar while we waited. While sitting there, I happened to check OpenTable and noticed there was a midnight reservation available. Since no-shows are subject to a fee, I approached the hostess and asked whether I should go ahead and make the reservation to guarantee we'd be seated at 12:00. Her response was, "I can't tell you one way or the other." That struck me as odd and not particularly helpful. I wasn't asking for special treatment, just trying to understand whether making the reservation would help secure a spot or if it was unnecessary. I went ahead and made the reservation anyway. We finished our drinks, closed out our tab, and returned to the hostess stand at midnight. Before anything else, she immediately said, "You need to close your tab." We explained that we already had, and her response was simply, "Oh, okay," before taking us to the back. Overall, the interaction wasn't rude, but it felt awkward and unwelcoming. The space is split into two rooms: an open bar area and a reserved room with live jazz--and trust me, you want the jazz room. The music was phenomenal and the whole place had such a happy, buzzing energy. We tried the chocolate espresso martini shot--super tasty, but not really a "shot." More like dessert in a tiny chocolate bowl. Cute, but skip it next time. Ghost Baby is situated in the underground lagering tunnels of a Cincinnati brewing company that ceased production in the 1850s. These tunnels, located four stories under Vine Street, remained vacant for over 150 years. As you walk in, you're standing in the Rattle Room, with an ornate bar styled after a baby's rattle. Here, you can grab a drink. It's a little less noisy than the Den. As you enter the Ghost Baby Den, you are greeted with live music and another bar in an acoustically brilliant, half-domed clubroom.
