We love this place. Clean, safe outdoor place to get fresh air. Easy enough out 18 month old has no problem. Bring bug spray for the summer months. Dog friendly from our experience.

We took our dogs on this walk, close to sunset. Nice fishing bridge with a few people catching some bass and bluegills. Mostly wooden walkway with a small amount of ground path. Quite lovely and tons of turtles. I have never seen so many together before.

Cool little walk. Look down at the water and you'll see lots of turtles. Our dog really enjoyed it too

Especially since it can get quite hot while down here. There is so much to do in this park. Throughout the year, and especially in the summer, they have events. During the summer, it is almost daily events that you can partake in. They had music in the park one night, but with our place being so close, all we had to do was sit on the porch to listen. There is also a farmer's market, exercising in the park, I believe art in the park. If that is not your thing, there is definitely things here that could keep you busy. It should go without saying, there is a stage/bandshell area. There is a picnic area if you wanted to bring food and hang out. If you have kids, they definitely have you covered here. There is a decently sized playground (right near the public restrooms, convenient). This playground is quite extensive and inclusive. Slides, swings, seesaws, monkey bars...you name it, it is here. A lot of them are wheelchair accessible. Then there is the sandbox, complete with a turtle making it look like you are on the beach. The sidewalks here are interesting as well. Every so often you will see a seashell in the cement. Turtle tracks near the sandbox. Fossils on the climbing rocks for the jungle gym. They really put some thought into this place. Also available here for you to enjoy, horseshoe pit, cornhole, basketball court, pickle ball court, and bocce ball court. The thing about the bocce ball court, they have the state champs for Special Olympics here, complete with a plaque of sorts. One of the neatest thing here, you know those free little libraries? They got one that is a little free art library. Tiny little pieces of art that you can take with you. Bookmarks, small drawings, magnets, shells, all free for the taking. Supplied by the local community or those visiting.

On Thursdays there's a nice farmers and craft market. There's a nice produce stand with lots of local product. Many of the stalls are local artists and bakers. I love lots of the beach theme products, all very good quality.

Welcome to Duck Town Park and Boardwalk in lovely Duck, NC. It's a real family and entertainment destination with an amphitheater, picnic shelter, and playground. Without question, the boardwalk and piers are the centerpiece of the property, measuring over 4,000 feet long and ten feet wide. You can take some beautiful photos of the boardwalk hovering over the water or silhouetted against the sky. The scenery along the boardwalk is gorgeous with pretty views of the Sound, sand dunes, fallen trees, and seagrass. We saw plenty of people taking advantage of the beautiful weather and simply strolling along the boardwalk or ducking into stores, bars, and restaurants, or relaxing on one of the twenty-one benches. I even saw a large bird (maybe a hawk or eagle or condor?) sweeping along the tree line and walking in the woods. anyone know what this is? https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/duck-town-park-and-boardwalk-kitty-hawk?select=JptpdCQdvEtdn_g0CL2tpw&userid=cVrM2BvOvPV0Vi_rC8kepQ We had such a nice relaxing time just wandering around the boardwalk and ducking into the occasional store or shop.

I love a good park as much as the next parent with children, but this outdoor recreational area is…read morejust not quite up to par. Don't get me wrong, it has a beautiful setting among tall pines and offers a tranquil area free of noise and little traffic. The Southern Shores Civic Association maintains the park and is responsible for any improvements through association dues. The park has been present for at least six years and do not think it's over ten years. The very best thing that I can say about the park is that there is one at all. I would consider Sea Oats a neighborhood park and to my knowledge there is not another one until you get to Duck to the North and it's superior. The fact that Southern Shores donated this valuable piece of land for the use of a park is commendable. Let's start with the best of what is here. Recently improvements were made to the single hoop basketball court and there were signifigant. New concrete was poured and a Goalzilla adjustable hoop with glass back was installed. These hoops are the BEST and are around $1,500. Parking is the first item that is less than desirable. Only around a half dozen spots exist on the hard surface. However this may not be a problem as the park is rarely busy. A bike rack exist and is a plus as many children use this mode of transport around the beach. There is also some wood play equipment, plastic slide and a swing set... ages 10 and under appropriate for play area. Although the swings can be up to adult and they do have a single one for a toddler. Biggest room for improvement that would really enhance the park is upgraded equipment, they have plenty of room. There is also a very large field for soccer and a single goal. On the day I visited it was not maintained and in desperate need of mowing. I doubt that any games are played here, but assume practices for local teams take place at this location. The biggest negative are lack of a restroom facility, not even a port a potty which I would recommend be leased as a more reasonable option to construction of a facility. Other improvements that could take place are a few trash cans and additional picnic tables (only two). I picked up debris around the BB court and placed it in the roll out dumpster by the road. There is one for trash, another for recycling. Check it out for yourself and draw your own opinions. I am at a 2.5 rounding down. However, I can see parents of young children bumping this up and understandably so. Even at a 2 I am still recommending Sea Oats due to the scarcity of parks with playground equipment in the area. My assumption is the BB court is one of many improvements planned for the small park.
