Got to visit Ghost Fox Winery tonight for a private event and check it out before its grand opening. This place is beautiful!! The space is decorated so bright and welcoming. It's a perfect place to come hang out at or host an event at. Make sure you try the merlot, it's my favorite!

My friends and I visited this winery a while ago, and I really can't wait to go back. They are a new winery near the Lexington area and a definite stop if you are visiting wineries in the area. The tasting room and porch area has a lot of sitting space, as well as seating at the bar. I really can't wait to go back as the weather gets warmer and use the outdoor space. They do have more dry wines than sweet, but they were delicous. They have an unoaked chardonnay that I enjoyed. They do have cocktails available as well. The charcuterie board was also very good. We split it between our group and found it was enough between pairs. The owners talked with us as we sampled and were very kind and knowledgeable.

The grounds are beautiful and expansive, stretched out under a big beautiful sky. Parking is ample. I attended with my wife and my son and his wife. We came to see a friend perform live jazz. We did a wine tasting. I was disappointed that the tasting only consisted of three offerings. It seemed a little shy for the price point. After the tasting, we settled on Afterglow, a very sweet wine. The four of us enjoyed our purchase while we sat at a picnic table in the courtyard and enjoyed the jazz. The wine prices themselves were very reasonable and the selection was robust. This proved to be a great place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. We will be back. This place gets five stars from me. (Still wish a tasting was four or five offerings instead of three.)

The scenery, atmosphere, and overall property create a relaxing environment that feels very "Kentucky wine country." The staff was also incredibly friendly, welcoming, and wonderful with families and kids. The gift shop and tasting space itself functionally was not laid out in a way that made the experience especially easy or comfortable to enjoy. For those of you interested in tastings, there is nowhere comfortable to sit during the tasting process, unless you want to trade into plastic cups and head outside. This unintentionally created a rushed feeling, even though the staff themselves never pressured us. As for the wines, I tried the Cabernet Sauvignon, Equestrian Series, and Crimson Cabernet. I personally tend to lean towards drier, more robust wines, these felt fairly lackluster overall and lacked the depth and balance I personally look for in a wine that can either stand confidently on its own or pair beautifully with food. A few of the sweeter wines others in my group sampled came across far more grape-forward than expected and reminded me more of juice than a refined wine experience. (My overall impression was they paired more with $10 bottles than the prices that were asked) While the staff was clearly well-intentioned and friendly, the overall tasting experience lacked some of the seriousness, polish, and professionalism that you would expect from a true leader in the wine space. We had to request that glasses be emptied and cleaned between tastings, water was never offered between pours, and some of the finer details that elevate a winery experience simply felt overlooked. That said, this place has a lot of potential. Between the scenery, atmosphere, and welcoming team, I could absolutely see why Talon Winery would become a favorite spot for locals or visitors looking for a casual afternoon outing. However, for those looking for a polished, elevated "Napa-style" wine experience, this may not quite be the home run I had hoped it would be.

We visited on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and enjoyed the scenery as we sat outside sipping our wine. Located just a short drive from Lexington, Harkness Edwards is checks all the boxes for a fun day out. Atmosphere, check. Views, check. Affordable, check. A variety of wines for every palette, check. We prefer our wine on the sweeter side so we went with the best sellers flight. For just $10 we received a flight of 5 different wines, These were generous pours and we presented beautifully. Once we got settled, we decided to add a charcuterie board for two. At just $20, that was a great price! It included grapes, multiple cheeses, crackers, meat and chocolates. I would've liked a bit more meat, but I understand that additional meat may have driven the price up. In addition to our flight, we also enjoyed a glass of seasonal apple cider sangria. It was light and refreshing, topped off with champagne for a bit of effervescence. Since it was such a nice day, we opted for outdoor seating to enjoy the weather and beautiful views. The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual. We brought personal activities to entertain ourselves, so we colored , journaled and did some reading during our time at the vineyard. Before leaving, we settled our tab and browsed in the retail area. They have many items for purchase including local honey, candles, soap, lotion and of course, wine. We purchased a bottle of our favorite wine from our flight. In addition to tours and tastings, they offer a variety of different classes. While we were there, there was a floral class going on. I would like to come back and take a class in the future. We had a wonderful outing at Harkness Edwards. The staff was very friendly, the wine and charcuterie were delicious and the atmosphere was delightful!

I love wine. I love winery hopping. This is called Chrisman…read moreMill Vineyards. I expected a vineyard. This is *actually* a tasting room at the mall. To be fair, according to Drink Ky, they have a vineyard that is not open to the public, but the winery page on Yelp takes you to the tasting room. So...I think my expectations left me a little disappointed. I still love drinking wine and I wasn't going to say no, but I thought we were going somewhere else. That said, the space is lovely. A nice retail area, brightly lit and clean. The bar area isn't extensive, but large enough to seat a couple of small groups. We sat at the end of the bar and were greeted quickly by the guy working. He explained the tasting options. Flights range from $5-$8, and you get three generous pours or your selection of wines or sangrias. I opted for the wine flight option. My selections were the Vidal, Sweet Jessamine Rose, and Sweet Riverbend Red. They were alright, nothing that made me want to buy a bottle. Apparently they are in the midst of a special offer for a free fondue plate with two tastings. That was a nice surprise! The flights come served on a barrel stave. It is a nice idea, but it is a little unstable. We both thought it was a little funny when the music that was playing switched to "Get Low" and some other club-like music. The fella liked it, I kinda killed the ambiance for me. If you are shopping at the mall in Lexington, and need a lil' wine time, Chrisman is a good option. If you want to go to a winery...this will probably disappoint you some as well.

From the windooooooowwwww to the wall... (more on this in a moment)…read more By all accounts, this place should be five stars. It is part of the mall area so it's not really a vineyard. It's more of a mall shop where you can also do tastings of their wine. Parking is plentiful. You have to keep in mind... you're at a mall! There are plenty of spaces and as long as you're not a pampered person that needs the closest spot, you'll be just fine. The guy working greeted us right away. They have a few different flights but none are over 8 dollars. Each flight gives you three generous pours. No complaints there at all. While we were drinking our wine, music was playing. It was a mix that fit the store perfectly. It was us, another couple, the worker guy and another worker girl that came out. At one point we started to hear, "Three, six, nine, damn you're fine. Move it till you sock it to me one more time" Yes! You guessed it... skeet skeet skeet. We noticed it right away. I said, "This is the unedited version too. Awesome!" The girl working noticed it right away and started laughing. It was funny but the guy working went ahead and changed the song. I understand that if the wrong crowd heard that song, it would stir up controversy. In my opinion, if they can't take a little skeet in their ears, then they probably shouldn't be drinking wine. My flight consisted of dry wines. The Norton, Norton Reserve, and Firefly. The Norton Reserve was my favorite of the three. Easily drinkable but I'm not sure if I'd need to buy a bottle or not. Our tasting also came with a fondue board. That's a nice little perk that we weren't expecting. When it comes down to it, this place is brilliant and more malls should lease to tasting rooms. For all the people that don't like to shop with their family, significant others or children... walk down to the winery and drink for a few hours. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but if you're already in the congested mall area of Lexington... go ahead and stop in.

Bar far some of the best wine I've ever had. My wife and I love door county winery in Wisconsin and really enjoy the sweeter fruit wines. However the wines here are so much better than those offered at door county. To start the Kentucky diamond is sweet yet light and refreshing. The red dog is amazing if you like red wine and want something a little different. It's slightly sweet yet has an oak finish almost resembles a tawny or a Porto but with a much lighter finish and not nearly as rich and sweet. The blackberry wine was phenomenal it's not to strong and doesn't taste to much like alcohol it has just the right amount of blackberry and is a much smoother finish than the door country blackberry wine. The cherry cordial is also quite phenomenal it has just the right amount of cherry with a brilliant chocolate finish yet it's not to sweet. I didn't find any wine here I didn't enjoy. It's a shame that the wine they make can only be bought here locally at the winery. Well worth the trip from Wisconsin to Kentucky just to buy a few bottles of this wine. By far one of my favorite wineries that seems to be hidden in the middle of the mountains. Even the history of this winery is quite interesting with ties back to Thomas Jefferson and Daniel Boone can't say enough great things about this winery or the people who own it. We booked it for both a corporate event for our California business and also a personal party in 2015 to entertain friends within a one hour flight from Chicago. I was referred to it by a guy in New York who was looking for a place to entertain two sets of clients, one in in Lexington and one in Louisville, at a central location around the Oaks and to do the Bourbon trail one day. It is a midpoint location part way between. They have a unique high ceiling apartment rental next door that I think you can rent in conjunction with the event space. The unit is huge. I stayed one day while I was siting my party weekend. That makes for a great place for the wedding party say or to entertain the most important clients at your event. Both the space and the loft are very unique and have a much younger/modern vibe compared to the traditional decor and architecture for this town. There is a good Mexican restaurant next door. I really liked the open layout, you could decorate it however you liked if you wanted to do a theme, but it also looks great with the minimalist shop lights and functional sliding warehouse-style door. I don't want to quote prices because it probably depends but I was surprised how reasonable it was, talk to them yourself... The primary drawbacks as I see it is there is nothing else to rent like this within 20 miles, so I probably will have to rent it several years in advance and I tend to have a hard time planning work events too far in advance so it may be booked before my 16 and 17 event is planned. I talked to Kevin, who was very informative and down to earth. I met with an owner there also who happened to be dropping by to weigh in on some details. He is a broker in this town and said he did this as a creative outlet (enjoys rehabbing historic properties) and to increase the demand for permanent housing nearby as he is an investor, so that is how he can justify to rent it out at what I calc'd to be below-market rates for this type of space. If you like modern style, high ceilings and flexible space with a nod to the past and walkability to nearby goods and services(huge factor for us) is a big consideration for you, this is your thing. Check it out for yourself ... I think you will agree with what I am saying though- the place is sharp and this town had needed something like it for a long time. Look forward to many events here.
