Ghost Ranch Exotics came up on my Tik Tok and I was immediately influenced. I signed up for the capybara experience, which lets you go into their pen with one additional person before incurring an additional cost. The whole experience is quite entertaining, from before you step in and can hear the peacocks vocalizing to when you leave and get a brief chance to interact with other large animals. The drive over there is through some unpaved roads, so I would recommend taking the drive in something that isn't a sedan if at all possible. It is possible given that I saw other smaller cars on the roads over, but I can't imagine it's fun or great for your vehicle. To be truly prepared for the amount of dust and grime that is on your car after the drive alone, I would allot time for a car wash after everything is said and done. I will caveat that the price point is steep for an encounter that ended up being under thirty minutes, so I saved this for a special occasion. Have you ever wanted to cuddle with capybaras, pet a porcupine, or galavant with goats? If so you have come to the right place! Our tour guide was one of the owners I believe, and you can tell she really cares for each and every animal here at the farm. There are capybaras, emus, tortoises, Patagonian maras, porcupines, warthogs, and many goats just to name a few! They all are pretty friendly so it was a cool experience to pet and give food to each animal. It was an educational tour as well since our guide had a lot of information about each animal to tell us. We went on a locals day where child admission was free with an adult ticket. Check their website for other days if you are a local. There was another day where they were bringing in a fennec fox which would be another awesome experience. The farm is a bit out of the ways if you are traveling from the Phoenix area so be sure to leave enough travel time to get there before your tour. It took us about 90 minutes driving to get there. There's not much around the farm either so be prepared. There's a small gift store near the entrance which sells all sorts of capybara laser cut wood items, water bottles and stickers. Prices at the gift store were reasonable and who can't resist a coaster that says Capyboba or a wooden snack board that says Snackybara? read more

We had the best time! Saw the circle of life with capybara mating and a litter of babies! My daughter said "I saw capybara schlong!" The 11 and 12 yo were fascinated by all the animals and appreciated that Tracy was educational, engaging and fun. She is an excellent ambassador! I did get nipped by Lily when I didn't feed her lettuce fast enough. I can now say I'm a rare human bitten by a capybara! No worries, just left a little bruise. Keep the lettuce coming!!! Georgie was amazing and walking us around and telling us about the history of all the animals, their quirky behaviors, mating practices, and other fun and educational things. I can FEEL how much she loves and cares about all her babies and what she does. She gives to the community and shares knowledge with many schools and other foundations. Her animals are all so sweet and loving and gentle, which speaks to how they are raised and treated. I recommend coming to Ghost Ranch Exotics any time you get the chance! My 8 year old daughter fell in love with Capybaras and wanted to meet one so badly. She had started doing research on how to meet a Capy and every place she found was super far away. I decided to do some research and found Ghost Ranch. We don't live that close to Ghost Ranch either, so we decided to make a vacation out of our trip to meet the Capys. I don't want to give much away on the visit because we found such delight in the surprises we didn't expect while there. Including Tic Tac ;D and Dave 2. But I will say we had such a great time. It was very easy to book a private tour on the website, and if you're local and Arizona is a little cheaper for us. We have dual residency in California and Arizona. The maps took us here just fine. It is a dirt road. Be careful not to run over anything like rocks and stuff on a nice flat part so you don't get a flat tire. I would try to come on a dry day without rain, specially if you're in a car that might get stuck in the mud. It had a very slight rain when I was leaving, but it wasn't too bad. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable. My son and daughter and they had a lot of fun. We took a lot of photos created some good memories and can't wait to come back. read more

We had the most amazing day meeting, petting, and feeding capybaras!! We had kids as young as 2.5 years old and up to 14 years old and they all absolutely loved it! I'm not sure if the kids or adults had more fun. We got to cuddle 5 month old capybaras!! There is so much more to see beyond the capys!! So many unique animals, who knew you can pet a porcupine?? The staff was so friendly and informative, you can tell they really care about the animals and take great care of them. Highly recommend adding this to your AZ bucket list! read more

Such a cool experience!! We did the Capybara Experience and had an absolute blast! Georgi was our guide and we learned a ton about the ranch and the animals. The ranch is beautiful and well kept. The animals are definitely loved and valued by everyone. We have previously visited the ranch years ago at their original location, so it's awesome to see it grow and expand.
