We spotted gray wolves prowling their habitat, mountain bighorn sheep showing off their cliff-climbing skills, a bobcat perfecting the art of looking unimpressed, busy beavers ( not so busy but napping), playful river otters, and hummingbirds zipping around like tiny feathered helicopters. The desert definitely turned the thermostat up to "extra crispy," but with plenty of water, shade breaks, and determination, we made it work. A great reminder that the Sonoran Desert is far more than cactus and rocks. It's an entire world hiding in plain sight.

The museum offers a peaceful setting to wander in nature, enjoying cactus gardens, a mile-long trail, butterfly area, etc. We like visiting the animals, especially the otter Dot, the stingrays, and the mountain lions (they have two new cubs!) The gift shops have a lot of variety and we have purchased many a birthday gift for people, as well as goodies for ourselves- and no sales tax is a bonus! The food on property is really good, and the prickly pear lemonade or margaritas are great for a warm day. They also have events like Cool Summer Nights that offer live music, special displays and guest presentations in their theater, or Raptor Free Flight (seasonal) to get a glimpse of various birds flying up close. We never get bored going to the Desert Museum, there is always something new to see or a familiar favorite to revisit.

In the oddest of locations, you're going to find a very unique petting-zoo of a handful of animals that you can feed everywhere from rabbits, to Lorikeets, to Tortoises, to European Fallow Deer, kissing goats, sweet donkeys and ducks, hens from Sussex England and yes, even cow-nose Stingrays. The sting rays are male overflows from the Odysea in Phx, have been debarbed and yes, you can also feed them. Overall, it was a pleasant surprise to us in seeing the diversity here. One thing many may now know is that this place even sells Ostrich eggs from Jan-June and cost $40.00 - per egg. Don't worry though, they are basically the mass value of a 'dozen eggs' so if you want to purchase one, know it'll feed several people but if you want to hard boil it, it'll take anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours to complete the full cooking cycle, first. But, yes, you CAN get Ostrich eggs here to eat! A very fun, informative, well protected for all the animals and an enjoyable spot for in-town guests. Would highly recommend this place, it's far better than I previously imagined it to be!

We've always wondered if it was as good as the hype. The easy answer: Yes, yes it is! The weather was perfect on the day we went and I would certainly suggest going before it warms up during the summer as all their attractions are outside with the exception of the Stingrays. We had such a fun time, feeding the goats, rabbits and of course the ostriches. The entry fee wasn't bad, and the price of admission gets you tokens for animal food for the various critters here. Love the names painted on the tortoises too. All in all it's good clean family fun, for the youngsters and just the young at heart.

The long stroll through the park to the museum is beautiful. A whole additional aspect to explore on your outing since admission to the park is included in visiting the museum and vice versa. Con: the walk through the beautiful park is LONG. Pretty, yes, but not the most convenient if you're toting multiple kids and all of their gear. Pro: the museum itself is compact and concise and has both indoor and outdoor exhibits. There's been different things each time we've been there and it's not overwhelming in terms of things to do. Con: it's compact. The interior portion is small, like just one room. Yes some cool stuff in there like the scarf chute, a grocery store, and a slide, but it's smallllll. It also appears to house the staff's fridge and personal space area. Not certain on that but that's what it looked like to me. And while there were multiple staff members standing around chatting with each other, we had no interaction with them. Overall my toddler daughter has thoroughly enjoyed herself while here and I think it's worthy of a visit, especially if you take some things into consideration. In particular I don't think this museum would be very fun to visit in the summertime with the long walk and the small interior space.

I felt that some of the areas could use some updating. For example, there was an outdoor art area with easels and no materials to paint or color with. Overall, my son had a good time. It is open 9-1 Tuesday through Sunday. Children under 5 are free but adults need to pay admission to the gardens. They also have daily story time at 930.

I thought it was pretty cool the way they reflected pictures onto the ground of the animals they discussed. They taught us not just about the animals of the desert, but also about the rock formations, and constellations as well . They did an introduction before we set out on the trail and an icebreaker, which I also thought was a cool little activity to help us all feel more comfortable. I would definitely do this again, and recommend it for anyone who's never done it. This would be a great activity to bring an out-of-town friend on. FYI- the hell when you first start, the trail is pretty steep.. I was huffing and puffing a bit lol. If you have any knee injuries or struggle with steep land, you might want to sit this one out. The rest of the trail is flat after however the hill is needed to start and end the trail (it probably took like 1-2 minutes to scale it). Also to find the area where the hike starts, you'll want to drive all the way through the park until you get to the parking lot on the left. For some reason, I thought it would be pretty close to when you enter the park, however, it is a little drive.

Tucked away in the northern area of Tucson we found this beautiful memorial labyrinth. The drone footage was definitely necessary to capture the true size of this stunning landmark. There is a trail entrance on Cactus Blvd. with plenty of off street parking if the labyrinth is your destination. Although we didn't walk the entire trail, it's the perfect leisurely path for groups as they are wide and even. There's plenty to see from natural plants, critters and education. It's very well maintained and clean with benches to relax on and shade to cool off in.

This place is a Tucson classic…read more Old Tucson is a historic film studio and Western-themed attraction located just outside Tucson, and it was originally built in 1939 for the movie "Arizona." Over the years, it has been a major filming location for various Western films and has been preserved as an old Western town for the public to visit. The summer night markets have begun with free parking and admission. There are various vendors selling their crafts and food, and it's nice to be able to support a local establishment and vendors.

But there is kids and senior and military discounts for general admission once they are in full swing which should be January 2027
