We arrived, early... only for her to tell us that. She offered to get the horses ready but could only do a 1 hour ride. (We reserved 2.5 hour tour). We were ready just to settle and take what we could get.... but we had a party of 5, and they only had 3 horses. We are from Ohio on a family vacation and had planned the majority of our vacation around this experience. Totally let down and disappointed. They took our credit card information and made us well aware if we were a no-call no-show, the credit card would still be charged the full amount ($690) (otherwise they are cash only). So what happens when they do the same? Our family was truly looking forward to an unforgettable Tombstone horseback ride and was left walking.

We explored the grounds and enjoyed the birds. We saw some local wildlife, enjoyed a rain fall, took too many photos. The family has been here taking care of this little slice of Heaven for decades, they know so much about the local ecosystem, wildlife, and the orchard they care for. The apples are fantastic, the birds are plenty, and the whole place is just wonderful. Wether for a day hike, a weekend getaway, or just a stroll I 10/10 recommend visiting. I think the day hike is 5$ and the cabins range in price, ours was 2 bedroom, 1 bath, and a kitchenette with a cozy living room, and was 120$ a night. We obviously stayed another night because the deck of the cabin was literally in the trees. Please please please come support a local family and visit. You surely won't regret it.

We were greeted by our very warm, gracious and hard-working hostess, Cathy, who showed us around upon arrival. The casitas are gorgeous. This place welcomes dogs of all sizes, and our pup loved it as much as we did. She loved playing with the other dogs on the property. She was also was introduced to the horses and donkeys that live on the ranch - that was a fun treat for her as well. We couldn't think of a better way to spend a weekend. We had such a wonderful time at the River Ridge Guest Ranch. There were three of us: my husband,…read moreour almost 2 year old, and myself, who stayed there as our 7th anniversary getaway. Kim and Tom made us feel so welcomed and were very accommodating. There was even a handwritten welcome note wishing us a happy anniversary. The cottage itself made you feel like you were right at home. It was beautifully furnished and well equipped with basically everything you need except your own clothes. You do need to bring your own meals but the pantry was very well stocked with a variety of items and Kim made us a delicious quiche which we had for breakfast the next morning. They also gave us some very fresh eggs from their chickens to take home. The property was beautiful and so peaceful. Just outside the kitchen windows, you can see a wide variety of wild birds hanging out by the feeders on the trees. They had many chickens at the barn and cute little chicks that were just recently hatched. Kim was so patient and kind around our daughter, who helped her feed the chickens! During our morning walk, Cody the horse and Wilbur the goat even came over to say hi and allowed us to pet them. Our only regret was not being able to stay for longer. We will definitely come back soon! So if you live in Tucson (or anywhere else in the world, really) and want to getaway from the city, please do yourselves a favor and stay at Kim and Tom's!
