Look at those canna lilies thriving with their soil! Those are TREES next to it!

How anyone rates this less than 5 stars is beyond my comprehension. How amazing to have a place selling such high quality soil products and amendments at such reasonable prices here in the desert! Arizona Worm Farm is based around - you guessed it - worm composting! They sell compost, mulch, garden bed mix (formulated by Angela from Growing in the Garden!), and soil amendments for great prices. That amazing garden bed mix is the same price as mass-produced soil at the big box stores! And not only that it's loaded in your car. Mulch is $1 per 5 gallon bucket and compost was $3!! You can bring whatever container works for you and let them know how much you got. They do also sell 5 gallon buckets with lids for $3 (vs $6 at the big box orange store). They also sell various plant starts and even have some veggies (like to eat) to sell next to where you check out. And -- yes there's more - there's a shaded sitting area by a playground and a "Worm Petting Area" that make this a fun stop with kids. Dirt, worms, and a playground! The staff here are so nice as well. And there's MORE. They offer classes most weekends on gardening, pickling, etc and the prices are very reasonable and usually include some extras like plant starts or pickles.

They have more than soil. Starter plants too.

I needed a full cubic yard, (a truck full), of gardening soil and was tired of buying it a bag at a time from The Home Depot. I tried the Arizona Worm Farm. Woo Hoo! It was so impressive!!!! The employees were amazing. I pulled in and they filled my truck with beautiful soil in minutes. In the end, it was much less expensive than buying a bag at a time. Highly, highly recommend this business.

    Fun playground

I LOVE the Arizona Worm Farm! I've been a customer here for several years and my garden has only gotten better over time because of it. They provide very high quality services and products at reasonable prices. I love how everything is seasonal so transplants or seeds you buy will usually take off well. The service is unmatched compared to other gardening places I've been to. Employees that I've talked to have all been very knowledgeable and helpful. The overall vibe is that people there want a greener Phoenix and genuinely want you to succeed in all your gardening endeavors. I recall nearly buying a chilipin pepper and Daniel showing me where it lands on the scoville heat scale to make sure I knew what I was getting into. I remember Zach seeing I had all 4 of my little kids with me in line and him helping me check out quickly- even throwing in a free transplant to my purchase! The classes are a great deal for all the hands-on experience you get, not to mention the hand-outs, thorough class notes and you can bring a friend along with you at no additional cost! They even have a playground for kiddos of the customer and free self-guided tours. If you are an AZ gardener (or want to be) the AZWF is a MUST visit location!

We've been buying worms from the Arizona Worm Farm for a few years now for our garden bed vermicomposting. (I'll do a post on that soon). The worms produce castings that are full of microbes and make for great soil in the garden. Get them in your garden now to give them time to adjust and settle in before it's too hot. The farm sells mulch and compost by the bucket. U-scoop it, so get whatever amount that you need for any size garden. Use the Farm's bucket to measure, or bring your own. Put the compost in your garden for rich, healthy soil and cover with the mulch to hold moisture in. The farm also sells veggie starts and makes their own black soldier fly larva nutrient plus liquid and vermicompost tea. As a family, we've also attended a fun u-pick breakfast that the farm has hosted a few times, and we can't wait to do that again. Check out their website for all that they offer, including a variety of classes. The team is so friendly and helpful, and it's nice to see familiar faces year after year. While you are down in this area, you should also check out The Plant Stand and the Farm at South Mountain.

Normally I come here for the worm castings!! Great quality Today I walked around the farm to see what else that were doing on this large piece of property Abundant flowers and vegetable gardens I bought reasonably priced produce grown on the farm. So glad I stopped by. As always wonderful smiling staff always willing to help.

The Arizona Worm Farm is on a mission to turn everyone on to organic gardening. Whether you come for a stroll through their endless gardens with scents of flora and compost inspiring to start your very own Green Acres; or to scoop up some of richest soil, mulch or compost the Valley has to offer, it is always time well spent to visit the farm. You can procure some of their worm castings or larvae to make your garden grow to new heights. Recently I attended two of their classes, both of which were an excellent value and offered great first hand tips for gardening success in our warm (ha! ha!) climate. I encourage u check out their website and sign up for one that suits you. Both of the classes I took included some plants and soil/fertilizer/mulch to take home with all my new found knowledge at an excellent value. One of the classes I took was led by local celebrity master gardener Angela Judd. She is an endless fount of gardening information and best practices. The class could have easily been 8 hours instead of one. So if you are a certified Master Gardener or simply want to learn what a grow bag is and what to put in it to yield a tomato or two, this is ultimate place for you to "grow" along with your garden.

The Arizona Worm Farm is your one stop shop for worms, compost, mulch, and plant starts. They seem to grow year round and for starts for each upcoming season. They also offer gardening classes for beginners. Awesome place, I was very inspired on my visit and took home several starts to transplant in my garden beds, as well as some planting guides. The customer service is great too and staff is very helpful but they also leave you alone to look around. Purchased several bags of mulch and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they use plastic to bag their compost & mulch. Would prefer they use burlap sacks or something more sustainable.

I was referred here for gardening soil and it did not disappoint. I drove down a long dirt driveway and it is all dirt. There is a lot going on here. You can get bulk items or bagged mulch, dirt, etc. You just buy it there and drive around a dirt path and they will load up your car. They sell organic food grown there and also plants. I got a box of fresh eggs. There is a farmhouse next door where you pay can buy fresh food as well. It was about $40 for three good sized bags of dirt. $8 for a box of eggs. I will be coming back for more, as everything is fresh and local. The honey comes from farms between NM and here.

We love gardening and try to stay organic as much as possible. That said if you are into gardening this place is a must visit. We visited this place to do our own worm castings and get some worms to start off. Later did we realize this places offers more than that. If you are looking for soil with the perfect mix, don't look further. They have a growing in the garden mix which is the best to grow your veggies, fruits and plants. Also good compost to top your beds and plants. They sell starter plants too. We mainly buy their worms, which is one of the best things. We are so glad that we have a worm farm locally and it's one of the best places you can shop at. "Be vocal for local"

    Gillian G.

Took a class here and it was so informative! They also give you 4 starter plants and worm castings, after attending a class. I now get my raised bed soil and compost here. I love that they only sell starters based on season/weather. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Prices are fair and I have never had a hard time with parking. I will be back!

I went to a personal shopping appointment on December 28th and picked out a lovely monstera. We went throughout the rest of our tour and noticed palettes and palettes of dead plants. Crotons, herbs, etc. There were several heart leaf philodendrons and pothos that had been left for dead too. My friend, who was at the appointment with me, commented on it, and I justified it. "I'm sure plenty of nurseries look like this behind the scenes too. Not 100% of the plants make it 100% of the time. This is what behind the scenes looks like." But then I had to intervene twice with the pothos I got. I got it home and it began to yellow, no doubt due to the most compact, overwatered soil I've ever seen. I dug her out, inspected the roots, trimmed away some yellow leaves, and combined her with another pothos. To make a long story short, through a local FB group, a handful of women and I were able to connect over our declining monsteras. Each of us had purchased a monstera from Abby Lee Farms at around the same time and were having identical problems. We were all experiencing black/brown spots surrounded by yellow. All of us have multiple happy and healthy house plants, including other monsteras. All of us were stumped as to what this could be, as were other experienced house plant owners that we convened with. After going over our various conditions, we discovered the only commonality was where we got them. We reached out to the president and founder via email, and were met with some of the worst customer service skills. His initial reply to us was helpful in tone (he even offered a smaller replacement), but that quickly faded as we poked holes in his theories. He purported that my problem was that I used neem oil to shine the leaves. That's a common practice of plant care, none of my other plants have similar damage, and the propagations I took from this monstera shortly after I got it home have zero damage. Another woman's problem was that she severely underwatered hers. He was rudely adamant that the varying conditions of our homes were the cause. He wouldn't even consider the fact that something had maybe gone wrong while at their green houses, even though he admitted to me in an email that they make mistakes all the time (ya know, just definitely not this one). His emails got increasingly antagonistic. Eventually it became that we needed to return the monsteras we purchased, which we all found to be a ridiculous request considering we had all done the work of removing the infected leaves. What was left of the plants were the healthiest leaves that we could salvage - all of which have incurred no damage since being removed from the soil/mother plant. You would think that if our conditions were the problem then those trimmings would continue to decline too. All this to say, we are very upset with the lack of customer service skills we were given. The founder and president is too close to the situation, as it's his business, to be responding to customer service emails. We all feel he took things too personally and was unnecessaril y rude. We are all reasonable women and we know that things happen and that businesses have problems/issues, but what speaks VOLUMES is how problems are handled when they arise. This is probably one of the poorest experiences I've ever had as an adult. As far as I'm aware, none of us have any intentions of returning to this establishment or recommending it either.

I feel so sad to give a local nursery such a low rating. I've been to most nurseries in the valley…read moreand I have to say I won't be returning to this one. There are a few reasons for this poor review. I want to start by saying I am not new to plants. I have a large collection of successful plants that have been thriving for years. I grew up gardening and owning indoor plants even as a young girl. I purchased a heart leaf philodendron which was clearly over watered which I rehabbed and is now doing much better after a change of soil. I also purchased a Tradescantia zebrina which seemed happy at the time but as time went on declined rapidly. Any time I even would touch this usually hardy plant, large branches would fall off. This plant is not hard to grow by any means it's one that I commonly recommend to my friends who are new to plants. I went into the soil and realized that it was not established what so ever In the soil. It had no roots at all. So it was clearly just chopped from a mother plant and placed into soil. Which I actually wouldn't have minded if I was told this along with my purchase because I would have cared differently for it. Now the part in which I have a 1 star. My friend and several other people I know of have gotten monsteras from this nursery and all their plants died within less than a month. They had to chop and prop. When they reached out to the nursery the man was incredibly rude as I saw the emails he sent. Blaming them for the decline of all 6 of their plants and continuing to bully them and tell each of them they cared for their plant carelessly. The experience I had paired with these other 6 woman is unacceptable. The customer service on this end is not something I or anyone else should accept.

The lights, music, activities, vendors were all good in general which is why I'm giving 3 stars. Except for the items that follow, this would be a very wonderful experience. The part that decreased the rating is the Christian nationalism. Nothing says "birth of our Savior, peace on Earth, good will to mankind" like the juxtaposition of the manger scene across from the American war and killing machine, complete with tanks and paratroopers and the police. And of the 10 songs they kept on loop, 2 were nationalist songs. One of the songs was literally the military recruiting jingles from the 1980s recruitment commercials. The second song was the Toby Keith Trump campaign song "Proud to be an American" . What does that have to do with Jesus, Mary and Joseph? The 10 songs looped every 30 minutes. That means every child there heard those two songs about 4 times in 2 hours. Christofascist propaganda at its worst directed toward children. The USA is the largest human rights violator on the planet, the literal antithesis of Christ and his message of peace and love. The last thing there were small animals without warm accommodations.
