I'm not sure where all the great reviews are coming from, because this was by far the worst salon experience I have ever had. I'm not one of those prissy, picky girls who needs everything to be perfect. I get it - mistakes happen. But I have been having my hair professionally cut and colored at dozens of salons, and this one is in last place. Let me break it down... Personnel: With the exceptions of the owner and the assistant (I believe her name was Amber?), everyone else was super rude. I am not easily offended and do not revel in small-talk, but these were the bitchiest stylists I have ever encountered. The color came out completely wrong, and the stylist was blaming me for changing my mind, when I specifically asked for no orange tones from the beginning. She also criticized my tattoos and said, "Well, they are really permanent. Like you'll have them forever." As if to warn me against them. Also, while cutting my hair, she said "The great thing about hair, it will just grow right back!" Seriously, wtf? Products: I had a cut, color, and highlights, and it was fine, but I saw quite a few L'Oreal bottle lying around, and when I am paying $180 for the works, I don't expect drug store products. Efficiency: I entered, she colored. The color was nothing like what I had described or picked on the color chart, so she colored it again. Still way too dark, so she lightened it. Added highlights, which were bleach blonde (which I specifically said I didn't want) so she used a toner on them to make them more subtle I guess? It didn't really work, but I had been shampooed 3 times so I quit and went for the cut. Let's just say that I cried for two hours after seeing the haircut. As she was styling it, I requested she leave it a bit damp because I typically don't used direct heat on my hair. My hair was bone dry. Also, I just had a piercing in my ear, and the last time I had my hair dyed I also had a new piercing, and after I requested the stylist at the other salon not touch it, it was not touched. After a few minutes, I cringed every time the stylist at Gianetta neared my ear because she hurt it so badly. Time spent at the salon: 5 hours. I do not recommend this to anyone. It's worth the trip to Marlene Weber or Bella Luci. read more

My friend and I thought I'd splurge and try this spot out for pedicures and gel manicures (as opposed to Sexy Nails which is cheaper). Nice atmosphere and staff but we both had terrible results...gloppy polish job, terrible nail filing and cutting, trying to skimp on extra coats or a clear coat, etc. My daughter can paint my toes better. read more

I'm not sure if this is the right channel to post this through because I'm here to review 2 of the staff who came to work a wedding this weekend. We had Amanda and Marissa come to do makeup and hair respectively at my best friends wedding. Amanda's makeup was Phenomenal. We joked around that the look she went for was "summer goddess" but honestly I felt gorgeous and the makeup was blended and applied so expertly I was sad to wash it off at the end of the day. The bridal party loved their makeup looks and they looked SO good in the photos. She was a charming, professional, lovely woman and she clearly knows what she's doing. I would schlep to beacon (from NYC )to get my makeup done for the next event because normally I'm very picky about not looking too made up but she nailed it. Absolute home run. Marissa! Her hair styling was stunning. Mother of bride has a beautiful, romantic updo. She showed marissa a picture she liked and she was able to replicate it almost exactly with seemingly no effort! (Though I'm sure it takes great skill to make it look like that). My blow out was stunning. I have long hair (past mid back) and I asked for some volume and curls so it wasn't just all hanging all over my body and she created this soft, gorgeous waves/curls that made me feel glamorous. It was stunning. The brides hair was a gorgeous half up/half down with waterfall braid and she literally looked like a princess. We were so lucky to get these two professional, talented ladies who were also both friendly, charming, and overall delightful. Thank you so much, ladies!!! read more

I live very close to this salon and needed a fresh hair cut for a wedding I am attending in two weeks. I chose Giannetta because I saw how nice it looked through its windows and I heard good things from friends. I'm sad to say I wasn't impressed. It was not a bad salon by any means, but I have experienced better. No one greeted me as I walked in, nor offered me a coffee/drink like other salons have. My shampoo was quick and minimal, my hair didn't even feel clean afterwards. On the upside, the shampoo girl was very sweet and friendly, my stylist was friendly as well. I made my Saturday appointment over the phone as a first time customer. The receptionist scheduled me with a random stylist. What she did not inform me of, however, was that the stylist was the "master stylist" of the salon. For this reason, my simple hair cut (a trim and some layers) was $75. If she had thought to tell me this I could have made an appointment with a stylist who would have charged me the $45 that is listed on their website. I did receive a good hair cut, but like I said earlier, I've experienced better. I wouldn't say my hair cut was worth the high price. My advice is if you're looking for a salon in Beacon, go to Arje on Main Street and have Arif do your hair. You'll get more for your money. read more

I recently patronized giannetta and was pleased with the services I received. I grew up in beacon and bought a home here as well. I love to see new businesses thrive and try my best to shop local. I must say that I am disappointed in the lack of cultural diversity regarding the staff. Beacon is a melting pot and always has been so when I patronize local businesses I like to see staff that represents where we live. There was not one African American nor Hispanic hairdresser which tells me that this salon caters to mostly Caucasian clients. I really wish they would consider employing hairdressers that are skilled in Hispanic and black hair. I am Italian and puerto ricin but have always gone to ethnic hairdressers for their knowledge of my type of hair. I would not go back to this salon until they spread their wings and invite a more diverse clientele into their establishment. read more

Just got a cut by Maryssa and she was fabulous! It was a last minute appointment to get my hair looking decent in time for New Years. She was so welcoming and helpful when it came to deciding what I was going to do. My hair came out perfect, I love it. Definitely would recommend her for any hair needs! read more

This salon is fantastic - clean and great service. I'm new to the area and still had my regular places in Manhattan and wanted to try a place closer to home in the Hudson Valley. I went in for an eyebrow wax and hair cut. Janet did my wax and she is amazing, very attentive. Gina was my hair dresser and I wanted a new look. She chopped 6-8 inches off and did a great job. Don't Go Here. Beyond unprofessional. I went here for the first time last week, and got Tina, who I assumed by the look of the place, would be a decent stylist. Upon my arrival, the woman behind the desk was less than welcoming, but I didn't think much of it. When it came to my consultation, red flags started going up. She barely touched my hair (which had been left dirty on purpose, so it was messy and tangled) before mixing the dye and parting all of my hair- without combing it- all the way to one side. I thought it was strange, since, logically, if you do that, the color will not develop my roots and my crown evenly... but what do I know, I'm just the client, right? She carelessly and barely applied enough of the product to completely saturate my roots in the first place, using up more time (with the dye in some places of my hair and not others) to mix up more, which had been a different consistency than the first batch. I couldn't help but begin to get nervous. Honestly, she did not make me feel comfortable in her chair in the first place. Egg timers on the counters in front of the mirror don't really exude professionalism or confidence with your craft, or time management skills. After asking me how long it normally took for my hair to come out as anticipated, she set the timer, and was nowhere to be found. Upon a brief glance at my roots after about 35 minutes, she had her "assistant" (friend, cousin, ?) rinse me out. I asked her how it looked from the sink and she went "Great!" ... When I got into the mirror, hiding my terror was not easy. The color was completely uneven, the roots didn't even match the rest of it, there was still patchy bits where the dye hadn't even permeated. I felt like I could've done better based on what I've seen done to me by other professionals. Tina proceeded to tell me that she thought it matched, and insisted that I let her dry my hair first before making up my mind since "That's just how it looks because it's wet." So as we walk over to dry it out, she asks me to sit in the chair. Again, normal, right?... The chair and station had not been wiped down or swept clean of whoever's hair was just cut. THAT IS SO DISGUSTING AND UNPROFESSIONAL. NOT TO MENTION UNHYGIENIC. The entire station was literally COVERED IN HAIR. It made me feel sick. I had to ask her to wipe the chair down. She didn't even bother with the floor, instead bringing me over a folding chair to put my purse on.. Gross Gross Gross! After mostly drying my hair, without even a wide-tooth comb or something, it looked absolutely terrible. So, back to "fix it". After the second time, my color was slightly close to normal , however it still had a bad tone. She used no toners, and said she'd throw in a conditioning treatment "On her." That also never happened, unless using conditioner after shampoo constitutes "conditioning treatment". Bottom line, I would never go back to this place and would absolutely not recommend it to anyone. Male or female. read more

I came here for hair and nail services for my wedding in November. I was pleased with the hair services - my hair came out nicely, but the stylist who did my hair could have been a little nicer and more friendly. I overheard her and another employee talking about how big another customer's butt was. Not cool! And the nail services were terrible! I came in the day before my wedding for a gel manicure and pedicure. The pedicure had bubbled and peeled by later that afternoon so I returned to the salon to have it fixed. The next morning I woke up and noticed that many of the toenails were doing the same thing. I called the salon immediately to see if I could come in earlier ahead of my hair appointment to get the pedicure fixed and make sure my manicure wouldn't do the same thing. Upon arriving, I was friendly and respectful in expressing my concerns. The salon staff seemed uninterested and didn't seem to care about fixing these issues! This was the day of my wedding and they should have been more professional about addressing my issues, which were very legitimate. I shouldn't have had to worry about this the day of my wedding. They ended up redoing my pedicure and putting my gel manicure back under the uv lights, assuring me the nails would be fine. My pedicure dried for three hours and still ended up smudging in my shoes and the day after my wedding my manicure peeled off in the shower. Luckily it lasted through my wedding. Thankfully, the salon refunded what I paid, which was the right thing to do. But I was still very disappointed. I urge others to seek out someplace with more skilled and professional staff. read more

Worse experience of my life. I went there with my friend for prom. We both wanted hair and makeup. On the day of our prom, it was raining so i expected the stylist to apply a lot of hair spray and other products to hold the hair but they did not. My hair fell out before i even left the place. ALSO, they stylist did not even take her time curling our hair! She rushed us. As i was getting my makeup done, my friend asked the stylist to re curl her hair because it was falling out. She did but she did a half ass job and charged her 15 dollars extra! Both of hair looked terribly no where near fancy enough for prom. The makeup was done as if an amateur make up artist did it. I myself do my makeup, so i know whats good and whats bad. She did a BAD job, the makeup wasnt blended and it wasnt even close to wait i asked for. My foundation was cakey and the false eyelashes were disgusting. I was charged 25 for eyelashes i didnt even want. My friend saw how bad my makeup was and didnt even get hers done. I was charged $200 for a head of curled hair (NOT AN UPDO) and crappy makeup. My friend got charged $100. We left so disappointed. I went home and removed all the makeup and did it myself. I recurled both my hair and my friends hair. They did an overall really bad job, had no regard for what we asked for or how we felt, and extremely over charged us. I will NEVER go back there and i suggest no one to ever go there. They are NO where near professional. read more
