Okay, officially I am giving this Giant five stars 1) for the employees 2) product selection. The fact that they are adding beer and my favorite orange hard soda is duly noted. I don't know if anyone else can relate, but I get major grocery store anxiety. There are several reasons - what's important to know is that I feel comfortable here. Steven, at the deli, was really helpful today. Really upbeat, positive and... how does he know how to get a pound of Cole slaw right on the dot? Things to ponder. My last deli experience here at this Giant was great also. I like that they have kiosks for ordering. Today there was a Boar's Head representative giving out samples near the deli. We chatted (I really like Boar's Head). And she posed for a pic. Then I found my favorite employee, and waited in her line for checkout. Even though she had more customers I needed to do some research and get her name. This woman is always so kind and she works so hard! Her name is Kaylury. Beautiful name for a beautiful person. So, I was unable to find my favorite shampoo and conditioner at two stores today. Giant had it. Hask - several varieties. They also had my beloved pecan pie Lara bars and great prices on kind bars. Often after the Farmers Market there are a few things I like to get from Giant. Went to buy just beer. Pretty certain this was the 1st time for that, The large woman cashier was parked at one of the high tables texting. I was second in line, no cashier. I asked her "are you the cashier?". She said wait a minute I am not finished. So we waited for her to finish her text. Unbelievable. Beer was good. Thus 2 stars. read more

I have been to this Giant several times and I do love the store for its cleanliness, their variety of food offerings, and for their kind and professional staff. However, on Friday, November 15, my girlfriend and I stopped in to get her sister a cake to celebrate an event in her life. At the bakery counter, my overly kind girlfriend, who is full of patience and smiles, asked if the person behind the counter could write "Freedom" on the cake. Now, this young person must have been hard core serious about working in the bakery because they were so focused that they appeared to be completely angry to the point of unsurmountable rage. I knew there had to be some special reason for why this person was not being pleasant like all of the other Giant employees. Then I realized it had to be because this was no ordinary, run-of-the-mill baker. This was an artist. Someone with style whose cake icing experience rivaled the greats who have come and gone throughout time. When dealing with an artist of such caliber it can be expected for them to be "off" and distant and impolite. But that's because someone like this baker demanded a perfection only a handful of people could ever achieve. And when this person finished, they presented my girlfriend with their heartfelt, passion-fueled work. I cannot believe she purchased the cake because something like this is priceless, isn't it? read more

I am so happy with Giant at Village West Allentown Pa.They are so helpful and courtious every time I shop there.The bakery has really delicious variety of baked goods. The deli meat and cheese is always fresh. They have such a great variety of everything, I go home with more than I intended to buy.The Giant is bright and cheerful and the items are easy to find..I went back 2 days in a row last week and going tomorrow again .I like the isles where they have the wellness products also, Prices are good all over the store.I rate it 5 star plus. read more

Never enough cashiers. Ridiculous lines at self checkout. Not acceptable! I have to shop for a school lunchroom and this place is torture.

It seems starting today the Giant supermarket on tilghman st. Opens at 7am which sucks for us people who work over night, we use to be able to shop at 6am get in get out and go home and sleep. Now opening an hour later will stop me from going to the store on the days I work. read more

I WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS. HORRIBLE. I got sent to a register, and the man there was very slow. I stood there for 20 MINUTES before moving to another cashier lane and waiting 10 MINUTES. I get it's busy. BUT to stand in line at the cash register for 30 minutes with a cashier who is so slow during a busy time??? This was ridiculous. I will NEVER come back here. read more

Avoid this store unless you are retired and have tons of time to waste. There are rarely more than 2 or 3 registers open and your can expect to wait in line interminably. Never a problem at Weiss. This store is very badly managed. I read more

Not bad, but not the best. I find myself here most often just because it's closest to my house. Their selection is usually pretty decent and prices are about average. Where this store lacks, is it can sometimes be a bit disorganized and dirty, check-out always seems to take too long, and sometimes they don't always have everything I'm looking for. The pros are they're deli and bakery is pretty nice, and each employee is always very nice and helpful. Giant here on Tilghman meets expectations, and serves the purpose, but is nothing spectacular. read more

This store cheats. I pulled a butternut squash out of the 99 cents per pound bin and when I got to the car, I realized I was charged for an organic. Looked at the sticker and it was organic. Don't stick organic food in the conventional bin. That is a bait and switch.p read more

Open 24/7 but they do close the right entrance late at night (10:00pm-ish?). Fresh flowers and produce are right inside the left entrance, as well as the movie kiosk. Bakery is all the way to the right, dairy line most of the back of the store on the right, and meat and seafood are also at the back of the store on the left (because marketers want to tempt you with everything else imaginable before you get to the meat, milk and bread). Prices are reasonable and things always seem fresh. When things get close to the expiration/sell-by dates they tend to mark it down for a quick sale. Check out can be a bit long sometimes when you happen to hit rush hour (which can happen any time!) and you're behind a full to overflowing cart. Self-checkout is a bit faster but it does closes down late at night. I have yet to figure out the exact time though. Overall, good place to shop for grocery although I would still make the drive to Elias for my produce. read more

Where to start? If you go there on a Sunday morning, be prepared to hear 2-3 guys from the meat department in the back of the store yelling to each other no matter where you are in the store. Their seafood counter often doesn't smell the greatest, but when it smells OK, don't expect them to have whatever is on special available. If you have any questions about items that are supposed to be on the shelf, you may as well ask the customer next to you, because Customer Service knows nothing about anything, and will frequently pass the blame onto outside people who come in to stock the shelves. Also, the first store I've ever been to where they have merchandise for sale but when you try to buy it, they don't have it in the system. Put it in the system? Why would they do something like that? I truly believe the people who work there strive to put the minimum effort towards their jobs. One exception is the cashier, Elliott. He puts the extra effort in by commenting on Every. Single. Item. on the belt. A lady who is buying tampons? Be prepared for him to ask you how they feel to use. Filling your fruit drawer? He will squeeze every piece of produce hard enough to rip the skins on the ripe peaches, plums, etc. Thankfully, he's the only totally bald young kid there and his voice is as distinctive as the meat guys' so it's easy to avoid his line, which is also identifiable by being almost always without customers, even if the others are 2-3 deep. About the only redeeming quality of this store is what another reviewer mentioned. It is open 24 hours so I can stop there after work at 11pm on my way home. If you can afford the gas for the extra commute and don't mind waiting in longer lines (apparently a lot of people have figured out the superiority of that store), drive out to the Lower Macungie store on Hamilton Blvd to do your shopping. You'll thank me later when the people are friendly, the shelves are stocked with a wide variety of items, and you don't end up leaving the store wanting to strangle someone. read more
