The Ramon bowls, my family and I agreed we'd rate it a 4 out of 10 but everything else was good. The tea wasn't my favorite. There was a funky smell in the cup (but I would never send anything back). The restaurant was close the hospital that we were visiting so it was convenient & open till 10. The waitress was nice enough but was overwhelmed with other customers so we barely saw her. Talk about instagram worthy! Kinya is absolutely mesmerizing esthetically. From the bar, to the booths, to the floating branches....easily one of the most beautifully decorated spaces I've seen. They've definitely nailed the assignment right off the bat. I've been to too many Ramen shops to count, but never have I seen Ramen offered along side sushi. Wait, they also have poke bowls, yakisoba, and even boba? The real question: is there any Japanese subgroup Kings actually doesn't do?! How does one person even choose what to eat? No seriously, I didn't know what to choose. After deciding on the bao buns and Takoyaki, I called the lovely and pleasantly patient waitress back and instead went for the Kinya Ramen. Technically speaking, it can use some tweaks. The bamboo textures were inconsistent, some being stringy. The chasu also had one two many inconsistencies, with many pieces on the chewy side. The ramen egg was overcooked, turning it into pretty much a regular egg. But with that all being said, there is some good here. The bowl is hearty, as they do not skimp on toppings. The noodles are also nicely al dente. All in all, the Kinya ramen still amounts to decent bowl overall. I have long subscribed to the principal that a restaurant that does too much, probably isn't great at any one thing. They is still to be determined. But as a Japanese food lover, I can definitely appreciate there being so many options under one roof. I'll be lying if I told you I won't be back. I had just landed in Allentown for a friend's wedding. It was around dinner time when that occurred so she took me to this spot. She ultimately got Ramen while I got their sushi deal. Ultimately you can pick two rolls that are listed along with gyoza and another fried dish. As well could get miso or a salad and I got the soup as it was cold. A very cute spot. Visiting for a graduation and stumbled upon Kinya during our shopping adventure! The restaurant itself is really cute (I absolutely love the fish lamps!) and the food was fresh and delicious. Went in on a Sunday afternoon. Walking in, the restaurant was nicely decorated, I love the ceiling decor. The staffs were very friendly, they greet you at the door and along the way in. I sat on the sushi bar and was planning to order something really quick for lunch. I got the spicy ramen with pork Chashu as suggested by the waitress and was definitely up my alley. I've been here several times and enjoyed my food. Today I went for a late lunch, was immediately seated. First noticed the menu has completely changed, seems they have many more options now than before. The ramen/appetizer combo is no longer on the menu, and in general things seem to have gone up in price. I ordered the kinya ramen with chasu pork and a passion fruit green tea. The tea was very good and I enjoyed that, however the ramen was a bit disappointing. The broth had close to no flavor and desperately needed salt. The chasu had very little flavor and was a bit fattier than usual (I don't mind that, others may). The seasoned boiled egg was only half an egg and was almost completely hard boiled, yolk was not runny at all and crumbled to pieces when I picked it up. It did say the ramen would have 24k gold leaf on it (I know gimmicky) but it wasn't on the ramen as advertised. For $32 with tip, I can't recommend this place. read more

Our drinks - Iced Green Tea with Honey and the Iced Latte' were on the sweet side, my wife kept adding water to her Green Tea to make it more drinkable. The ramen was definitely deep in flavor, the pork chashu not quite as tender as others we've had, but the bowl was missing a few of the listed components. We accidentally came across Kinya when shopping nearby. In general we're happy with the food and the service. I like how this place offers variety of food like ramen, bowl, sushi, and boba. We got Kinya ramen, gyoza, poke bowl and trinity roll. Although all the food was delicious, the place can improve on attention to details. For example, the roll was falling apart, gyoza can be fried a bit longer, the chasu in the ramen can be charred more (looks pale compared to the picture in the menu), and the egg needs to be marinated longer (looks like a regular soft boiled egg instead of the marinated one). We are glad to see a new ramen spot in the Lehigh Valley. We can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu. read more

We ordered the soy garlic wings, bao, seaweed salad, gyoza, kinya roll, kinya ramen, spicy ramen and dragon roll. Everything hit. I had low expectations because let's be honest it's a ramen and sushi bar in the Lehigh Valley. The bar is low. But I have to say the Kinya ramen slaps. I finally found the time to travel over to Kinya - and I should've came so much sooner! Immediately upon walking in the ambiance was incredible. The decorations and lighting were so well thought out and beautiful to look at. I couldn't help but notice also how clean it was, which is huge with me when visiting restaurants! We were greeted with warm welcomes and fantastic service. The food was fresh and came out super quick. The friendly staff really made it an amazing evening! The shrimp tempura roll was probably the BEST I've ever had (coming from someone who has been to hundreds of sushi restaurants). The Pork Gyoza and Takoyaki were delectable and so warm on a cold January night, I couldn't decide which appetizer was better so I had to get both! My wife and I ate here yesterday and loved it. The service was great and friendly...everyone smiles a lot...and the food was very good. What stopped me from giving Kinya one more star is something that disappoints me in many restaurants. I don't think the workers or cook are Japanese. I love the Japanese culture and know a little about it and the language and I don't think anyone there was speaking Japanese. The cook and the guy who greeted us upon entering were speaking a lot and it didn't sound like Japanese ( not even Chinese). Of course I could be wrong. Plus, knowing the Japanese and their ways I'm sure upon entering we would have been bowed to. Not a big deal...like I said everything was good including the cleanliness and the style and ambiance of the place. For me though it's all about the culture and being part of it. Connecting to it and having lived it. If the staff have lived it then that makes a difference, Otherwise they become like decorations....just looking the part. Just to fool us? Sort of (for me) like Italian food for example. I come from an Italian Family and if I want real Pizza I go to an Italian Pizzeria not Pizza hut or Dominoes. I love Carrabba's and Olive Garden but I like them as treats not "real" Italian food. The cooks are Americans and the Job is open to anyone. For real Italian food I go to family owned Italian places where the cooks are Italian and so are many of the workers. Pretty much like going to a Chinese restaurant. Even Ichiban steakhouse. Not Japanese...It's American! So I ask..."Nihonjin desu ka" or "Nihonjin janaides". Sorry for my poor Japanese language skills. Once again just to be clear. We loved the place and will definitely be back. I'm not saying anything bad about the place...it's more of a personal thing. Why hire people that just "look" the part?
