The store has five or six carts for disabled customers. Every day I try to shop but the carts aren't charged. I now have to shop at wegmans or Rednors. . All the money the stores make you would think they would keep the carts working . Bad wheels uncharged carts. I've asked if the supervisor would get lactose free yogurt I was given an excuse they quit making it , but it's not true the employees won't take the time to get it in stock. I now go to Wegmans they have it for sale. $800 to $1,000 loss to the store because the supervisor won't get items the customers need for their health. A shame since I like giant over all. You need to have more than two registers open, especially when the store is packed due to an impending snowstorm. I spend more time waiting to checkout than I do shopping. Nobody with more than 15 items should be using self-checkout, yet this is the reality when only two cashiers are on duty. I appreciate a friendly cashier, but when the lines are long, they need to be working with a sense of urgency, not taking their time to chit chat with each customer. read more

I use this store as my regular grocery store because I'm usually in and out in 30 minutes for a week worth of groceries. Over the past year, I feel as though the store is going downhill, so now I will be using other locations, maybe Acme down the street. I've tried to buy beer here or wine bottles, and each time there's a VERY slow woman ringing. The one time in fact, I was purchasing $60 worth of beer for a family picnic, and the older woman who was stationed at the register for alcohol purchases held a full convo with a coworker about how she needs a break, and wants to go on lunch, and she's tired, while I was trying to complete my transaction. Never even mentioned my total or asked for ID. I stood there waiting for her to finish her convo so she can bag my items. It was like I was invisible. The salad bar is regularly empty, even right after work. I sometimes grab salad for dinner, and yesterday (8/30/18) at 6pm, the bar was barren. I couldn't ask anyone if they had more to refill because there was a huge line at the deli, and a woman at the alcohol stand who "didn't know" if they had more containers somewhere. At checkout, I used the "you scan". I walked up to go to the only open checkout, and two workers were having a full blown convo, chatting away, right in the middle of the aisle. I said "excuse me" twice before they even noticed they were blocking my way to the only available kiosk. (again, on 8/30/18 around 6pm). I get it, its a grocery store, so they will make money regardless.....but maybe have some pride in your store. acknowledge customers, and keep things full? read more

I readily admit that my friend and I are suckers for grocery stores (and coffee places). We cannot resist stopping even if we have enough food or are in a 3 day trip to Pennsylvania and really don't need much food. I saw several Giants before we finally stopped- that is called willpower in our car! I walked in and the branding looked very familiar. Hmm.... Why yes, Giant is the same as my local Stop & Shop. Prices were cheaper, but all the same brands and the same symbol. They did have caramel Popcorners and I can't find those here so I am officially jealous. Otherwise, it wasn't a very unique experience. Of all the grocery stores we visited in the area, this and Acme were kind of boring. Probably because we have versions of both locally. I tried my Stop & Shop card, but it wouldn't take it so no savings for me (on the bag of cheese that I purchased, sigh). With all of the better options in the area, I really couldn't see myself doing my shopping on a weekly basis at this place. read more

First, the rating is not a reflection of the people who work there. Everyone is so nice. They have the WORST selection of meat and seafood I have ever seen in my life. I feel like I've slipped into a time warp when I walk into that store to look for a good steak. The last time I was there I purchased a 2.47 lb "Premium" chuck roast. When I opened it up and flipped it over, I couldn't believe the amount of fat that I saw. I cut almost a 1lb of fat off of that roast. BTW, this wasn't the first time this happened to me. I recommend going to Acme for meat, you'll get a better cut, larger selection and better price. read more

I typically have a decent experience at this Giant but today was the worst. 40 minutes waiting for one deli item!!!! Meanwhile 3 staff chatted with each other while barely moving. I was even notified it was done but still waited 14 minutes for her to complete it. They totally missed people and could care less that people were waiting so long. Horrible. read more

I have been shopping at Giant for years and am very disappointed lately!! For some reason they never have their own store brand products which I like better. Their site brand soda is almost empty, same with their fruit juices and toilet paper! I don't understand this! This review pertains specifically to the wine and beer section of the store. There is so much not to like.  1. Prices are higher then the local beer distributor and PA wine store. 2. Customer service is consistently awful. - Upon presenting my purchase to the clerk I said "hello". There was no response. As he waited for the transaction to process he began gnawing on his fingernails right in front of me. Transaction complete - still no words from the cashier. 3. Selection is very limited.  4. Twice the register was unstaffed and I had to ask the deli to have someone paged. Waited 10 minutes. And so while convenience should be one reason to patronize here, even this is not guaranteed. read more

The deli counter in this store is possibly the slowest service in the universe. You would think that they had a handle on their busy times and staff appropriately. By far, the slowest, most inefficient deli I've ever seen. Regardless of the day or time you are there, there is a line, they are understaffed, and incredibly SLOW! It's not unusual for workers to just look at a long line and walk away. Worst deli around! Giant needs to reevaluate this dept with possibly major changes. I like Giant food stores a lot but depending upon which shift i visit is definately an indicator of what type of service i want to recieve. I go here all the time for the simple fact that i am an avid coupon user and this is one of the stores that has the triple coupon benefit which means more money saved....."SCORE" Pros: This store had a whole section which consists of about 3 isles of Organic and Raw foods with a dairy case and a case for frozen foods as well. The produce i have gotten from here has always been good and also the lunch meat and cold cuts from the deli counter are great. I am a Boars Head fan and this is the brand of choice that they carry aside from the store brand and land o lakes brands. I had to shave off a couple of stars for bad service i recieved a couple of times when i visited around the evening shift from the Cashier supervisor. I find it very easy to navigate this store and find things. I would come back because of location convenience and sales. read more

I reluctantly go to giant for great produce sales and the occasional deli order. The deli ordering is the worst I have ever seen. They skip you when you are standing there waiting and serve orders to people that enter them in the kiosk. Today I got skipped over four times when asked my number so they could cut orders for those that were not waiting and they didn't come to get their order while i was passed over. The only reason I go there is for the boars head products otherwise this store is overpriced. Good thing wegmans is up the street. Every year at this time I have noticed in the bakery department where the single donuts are displayed in the donut case, several big black flies are flying around the donuts. I am sure that I cannot be the only customer noticing this. I have brought it to their attention several times where I will get a snub attitude, then they will just swip them away temporarily, they will appear again. Can't they build a more secure case ? I had the unfortunate experience of frequenting my local Giant today. It is the closest supermarket to my home, although notably more expensive, with less selection than Wegman's where we normally shop. To call the customer service at Giant less than optimal would be a compliment. I believe one of the other reviewers referring to this place as a "toilet" would be accurate. Apparently that is where they locate their staff. I will sum today's experience. I was in the store around 2:30 p.m. I was patiently waiting in dairy while a rude employee ignored me, continuing to stock the shelves. I politely informed him that I was looking for heavy cream. He looked at me and rudely stated. "I'm refilling them right now.". I waited around another ten minutes. Still no cream. Realizing that the store was busy that day, and the employee was being pulled in multiple directions, I continued shopping for my other items. I was trying to be considerate that, just maybe, the employee was having a bad day. I returned to dairy in ten minutes where the rude employee was continuing to stock. He was joined by another female employee, who was not doing any work, but standing there, conversing with said male employee. Their conversation consisted of how they were so busy because "everyone waits to shop on Sundays"... I figured since the female employee clearly had no work to do, I would ask her about the heavy cream. Apparently the art of opening one's mouth was too much for her, as she could only point at said male employee.....As such, I again asked this wonder boy for heavy cream. At that juncture I was informed that. "We don't have any." After wasting too much time waiting for cream, one could ascertain that I would be noticeably aggravated. I quickly pivoted, calling said employee an ***hole, and that he let me stand there! Whether Giant was truly out of heavy cream or not, only God knows. All I know is that no one should have to tolerate this kind of disrespect. From now on, if I need a last minute item I'll be driving another block down the street to Redners or going to Acme. The only pleasant part about my whole experience in Giant today was the checkout girl, who was not rude...although I probably was at that point as said male employee had me inflamed. This is not the first time this kind of thing has happened. My husband has gone into Giant several times in which there have been no employees in Seafood etc. Several of my neighbors have also complained about the customer service, and or prices in this store. Giant would have to give me quite the stipend to come in and shop for me to EVER return. I don't expect employees to love their jobs, but I do expect to be treated with common courtesy as a fellow human being. read more

To call this store a toilet is an insult to toilets the world over. I had the unfortunate opportunity to be in this poor excuse for a supermarket twice in the last week. I usually go to Wegmans (the super store of all supermarkets), but I had no other choice as I had unexpected guests and needed to get a few things for dinner. Saturday afternoon there were a lot of customers in the aisles and jammed checkout lanes, they had 3 checkouts open. Let me repeat that THREE CHECKOUTS, plus one express lane. There were no carts in either vestibule. The store was dirty and un-swept, there were pallets of merchandise sitting in the dairy aisle. There was no visible management anywhere, which might account for the teenage "help's" visible lack of enthusiasm. I had to return today (07/18/13) to exchange an item that had an expired sell by date (my fault I should have known better, I forgot where I was). When I walked in the store it was as dark as a cave, they have half the lights off in the store. The aisles were dark and you probably couldn't read a label if your life depended on it. I imagine they have the lights off to conserve power. They want to make it appear like they are being politically correct in conserving electricity, but in reality they are just punishing their customers because they're cheap. I cannot imagine how an elderly person or a person with limited sight would navigate this place. It is no wonder that Wegmans is beating their pants off in EVERY aspect of their industry. They have stopped trying to compete. Wake up my fellow shoppers, Wegmans is better in every aspect, price, selection, variety and especially quality. To repeat this place is a toilet, make sure your shots are up to date before you go in and wash your hands after, or better yet, take a "Silkwood" shower as soon as you're home. read more

Oh my God! I can't take it anymore. No doubt - Giant has good prices and a pretty big selection of items, but the customer service is deplorable. While 5 people are milling behind the deli counter, only one is waiting on customers. The others won't even look at you. When I ask why only one person is waiting on customers on a Saturday morning they stare at me with a dumb stupor. Cashiers are talking to each other and baggers walk away as soon as you walk up. This store is great. It has very reasonable prices and a great staff. He best part about Giant is that they hire baggers- people that will bag your items for you. It really saves time during shopping trips. The employees there are always friendly and ready to help. read more
