I've taken a walk to PJ from Phoenixville downtown a couple times and that seems to be a better way to get in and out as the traffic can be dicey. Although many people complain about turns and traffic backing up, Phoenixville and Mont Clare are historic towns with single roads in each direction not built for the high velocity of traffic the area has. Want to be decent? Avoid making left turns into PJ lot off of Bridge St. As for the products...this is a bulk buy place, but EVERYTHING is super cheap. The quality isn't the greatest. In my experience after buying a large quantity I, found spoilage after a day or two. It really evened out with what I actually payed for what wasn't spoiled. It's a decent place for a family, batch recipes, but probably not for an individual. I've taken home bags of eggplant and had no idea what to do with it and ended up tossing a lot of it. At the end of the day shopping here made me feel wasteful and also that I was buying lower quality goods at the same time. I'd rather buy how much I need and use it, and let the bigger quantities go to someone who needs all of it. The checkout process IS kind of shady. I couldn't be bothered to keep track of 50 cents to a dollar overcharges here and there, but if you're buying a lot of products, bring a little notepad or make a note on phone of the prices so you do not get ripped off. That's just a hassle associated with shopping here...you get what you pay for and you don't get what you don't pay for. Cheap Cheap Produce, Flowers, Plants, and More! I found this store when getting my car washed down the street some time ago, and I have been addicted. I usually get produce I use a lot in bulk from Costco, but Produce Junction is giving some serious competition in cost and quality. I have no idea why the prices are so low, but they are. They have a wide variety of fruits AND vegetables, especially with an emphasis on whatever in is season at the time. The herbs are cheap too, which I love. You honestly cannot go wrong, it is like an indoor farmers market, with all customers buying in bulk. Here are some tips for successful shopping here: 1. Bring your own LARGE bag. Less hassle on the way to the car, as there are no carts 2. BRING CASH. I cannot emphasize this enough!!! They will not take another form of payment. 3. I have passed by this place for months, muttering about the traffic jam that it causes on saturday mornings. Before a Union tailgate I was in desparate need for a large amount of limes and lemons. Following the recomendation of the Drive Through Beverage World Owner, I finally swallowed my bitterness, and marched my behind into produce junction. My jaw dropped. Fruits, everywhere. Vegetables, everywhere. Fresh flowers as far as you can see. I was overwhelmed by the fresh local produce, and nearly collapsed when I saw the price for all my purchases. I have been coming to this location for many years and love their deals. Produce Junction is a chain produce store that sells bulk fruits and vegetables for an affordable price. They also sell seasonal flowers and items. They have great deals in the fall for their pumpkins, bales of hay, cork stalks, and more. I always try and stop here to buy in season fruits and veggies. I get a lot for my buck and then store the extras in the freezer or can them. The downside of this location is the parking. It is a very tight parking lot and on busy days you're at risk of getting hit by a car or getting into an accident. It can get very frustrating trying to find a place to park and then fight all the other customers to get your produce and flowers. I would not recommend coming here when it is not prime time, like the weekends, and lunch hour. The other downside is that sometimes you do not get the best quality or bad and bruised fruits/veggies, but for the savings I am willing to take the risk. It has not stopped me from coming back. Found out about Produce Junction through a friend and I was in the area so I decided to stop by. First thing that caught my attention was the prices. The prices are unbelievable. For example, 6 lemons for $2, 12 limes for $2, 2 pounds of grapes for $2. I'm not sure how they get their prices so low but I'm not even going to question it. Workers are friendly and helped me pick between the red or green grapes (they recommended the red). Wide selection of vegetables, fruits, plants, flowers at a fraction of the cost of other florists and grocery stores. Great experience hope to come back again. When I lived in Wyncote, I drove all the way to Knights Road to shop at Produce Junction. Then when they opened one in Glenside, I shopped there. Now that I work in the Phoenixville area, I've been shopping at that one and have been for several years. In the last year or so, many of the items I buy are rotton or never rippen. Today I shopped there, returning peaches that never rippened (they must have been frozen at some point). The manager said I could exchange it. But another person gave me a hard time. But I needed some shallots and fruit. I spoke to one of the managers before I left and after I placed my purchases in the car, the managers I spoke with claimed that I had never purchased the shallots. I know I had... mind you, this store does not give receipts unless you charge your purchases. All of this, I am sure was because one of the employees wanted to give me grief about exchanging the rotten peaches. I suggest that if you patronize Produce Junction, don't pay with cash. read more

I used to come here a lot more, but I do not intend on returning. At first the produce is very reasonable (such as the 2 boxes of strawberries for $3) BUT the quality is very poor. The quality used to be decent and for the price I was willing to deal with it, but this past weekend I got 2 lbs of grapes for $2 and I had to throw out the whole bag. When you get fruit from here, it's not like the grocery store where you get to pick your fruit. You stand in a line and order but you can't see what you get until you have paid. I was so sad by my grapes- they had huge cuts in the backs and were moldy. On that same visit we also got a large bag of green beans that were also moldy but we were able to save half of the bag. The limes we got were workable. The grapefruit were the size of an orange and were not sweet. This place is cheap but not worth the risk of your health. The people are very rushed inside, which is fine for quick service, but they aren't very friendly either. I would rather pay a little more and get better quality, more fresh and tastier produce. I have a strange obsession with creating fruit salads in baskets carved from watermelons. During the fall I practice my basket carving skills on unwilling pumpkins. Although the shape is significantly different, I find the consistency similar and thus, beneficial. My fruit salads are amazing. I welcome all fruits to my party...all fruits except citrus fruits. Oranges and Grapefruit...oohh especially Grapefruit, are like Kyrptonite to the the other fruits. Grapefruit is that guy at the party who wants to ruin everyone's time because his girlfriend is off sucking face with some other melon head. The citrus juice penetrates into all other fruit thus completely compromising the overall taste and enjoyment of the salad as a whole. All other fruits need to take a lesson from the thick skinned and always evolving grape, as it is impenetrable. Produce Junction has amazing prices. For some reason, PJ's can manage to sell vegetables, fruit and flowers for far less than anywhere else in the area. If you are ever having large crowd for dinner, or want to make an enormous fruit basket, head to Produce Junction. PS: If you messed up with your girlfriend and want get back on her good side, buy about 4 dozen roses from Produce Junction, it will cost you about the same as one dozen from a florist. read more

Generally I'm a fan of Produce Junction. The concept of fresh produce for less is a no brainer. Even if I have to buy 20 bananas. For $2, I'll buy them and give half away. It's still much cheaper and better quality than what I'd get at Acme. But this location has issues. It has a cramped parking lot, that is overflowing at peak times. But most distressing, a lot of the produce you'll find here is past its prime, or worse, spoiled or moldy. Since much is pre-bagged, you'll often only find this out when you reach home and unpack your purchases. If you are going to shop here, check everything closely before you leave (it's a hassle to return and they seem to have no procedure in place for dealing with returns and complaints). And do follow the math as the attendant adds up your purchases. They are often wrong, usually over-charging. CASH ONLY! read more

Great prices, and usually great quality. Ocasionally they don't add up the $ total correctly at the counter which gets annoying but honestly I don't know how those guys can keep it all straight anyway with prices constantly changing, sales, etc. and no codes or scan tags on anything. Certain items I love to buy are only rarely in stock like purple flesh potatoes and turmeric root, would love to see those become regular items. The Produce Junction is a nice place to get fruits and vegetables for pretty cheap. It's cash only, but there is an ATM in the store (charges a $1.75 surcharge, however.) I haven't gotten any bad produce from this place, but it doesn't hurt to check before you leave the store. The parking can be a little tight here at times; and as others mention, don't make the illegal left into the parking lot! There's a sign that specifically says not to, and I'm sure police patrol the area to enforce it. Otherwise, a great place to get essentials for cooking! read more

FYI: They close at 5:30pm Monday through Saturday and they close at 4:00pm on Sunday. Sure, the quality isn't always top-notch, but I tend to look at what I pick out (at least the stuff on the self-serve tables) before I put it in my basket. And at their prices, I have no problem throwing out some stuff that's gone bad. Small onions are 5lb for $2, so if a few go bad before I can get through all 5lb, oh well. Half the time anything that goes bad was good to start and I wasn't able to go through it all. It's not just good prices, but it's also bulk produce! It's like Costco, but just for produce! I spent $45 there today. My biggest complaint would be that they only take cash. The whole lack of receipts thing bugs me, too. They do have an ATM there, though, so it's not a huge problem. Honestly, I don't think the traffic is a reason to knock off stars for PJ. It's not their fault. There is a light right there - if you're going to PJ, turn at the light and then go into the parking lot. Or drive past, go downtown and turn around in one of the parking lots and come back from the other direction. I like going to PJ. I'm lucky that I'm also within walking distance. Great selection of produce and vegetables. I spied a 4lb bag of spinach for $4 as well. Definitely will get that for my smoothies next time I am in. Flower selection & prices are remarkable. Glad I stumbled on this place. Cash only!! (There is a surcharge ATM in the front of the store) My only gripe is that you pay in one line of vegetables & another for fruits. When I heard about this place I was hopeful that it would live up to the good reviews. However, I can't recommend it. Yes, the prices are great, but the produce is not. I've been there three times in 4 weeks and every time I've gotten poor quality fruit and veg. I don't like that they pre-package most items - I don't want the quantity they sell and I want to pick out my own items. There always seems to be one or two items in each package that are spoiled, and it's disgusting and disappointing. Also, if you want to get both fruits and vegetables, you need to wait in separate lines and pay separately. That's just silly. Aside from the quality of the products, getting in and out of the parking lot is a nightmare, which is further reason not to go there. Thumbs down all around. read more

Today 03/03, around 4:30pm I went to Produce Junction Market located 126 Bridge St Mont Clare, PA 19453. I put into my basket 6 bags of Carrots - $1.25 each, bag of Celery - $1.50 each and bag of Green Peppers - $3.00 for the total amount of $12. At the cash register I was asked to pay $14. I requested to double-check the total amount and the cashier came up with $14 again. Then I took all the produce out of the box and started to calculate myself by explaining all my calculations to the cashier and came up with $12 and suggested that the cash register person has to take some math courses. She took $12, cursed me with derogatory words, left off leaving all the produce on the counter without packaging it back to the box. This kind of cheat by overcharging has happened to me at this location already several times, but at that time I didn't pay much attention thinking that it is an honest mistake. But IT IS NOT. They do this kind of practice on regular basis systematically. Produce Junction Market is not properly equipped with cash registers, do not provide any kind of receipts, their employees are poorly trained without any customer skills and knowledge of basic math. I use this place when I want to buy a large amount of veggie and fruits. I do not recommand if you are a single person and you don't like to cook a lot. My husband and I both love mushrooms so we will get a big bag of mushroom for one of our meals. I been using this place for a few years now, and just in the last year I have been using it more. I think after all the time I gone there, I have had only one time where I was disappointed in what I brought. Try it out for yourself. Good place to come when living on a budget. Lots and lots of produce and fresh flowers to choose from. I have starting making raw smoothies and this is my go-to place to gather my ingredients. Also during seasonal months for instance, winter time I go here for rock salt for which you get a huge bag for really cheap. Also, they have cute little lawn ornaments to decorate for Halloween, Christmas, etc. The only downside to this place that I found is that the staff they have working arent exactly what you would call public-friendly people. No smile, no greeting, no thank you, no nothing but I will continue to come because I dont think I can find cheaper produce anywhere. They also dont except plastic, this is a cash-only establishment but dont fret they do have an ATM on site incase you forget or just dont have the time or the willpower (tee-hee) to stop and get cash. Oh and one last thing...... This place can get pretty ugly in the parking area when they are extremely busy which is just about everyday. While visiting friends in Phoenixville this weekend, we went to Produce Junction yesterday morning because I wanted to get some reasonable produce to bring home to my grandkids. I spent over $50 on produce because everything looked so good - well - not the case - when i got it all home and took it out of the bags/boxes - strawberries were all moldy - grapes taste awful - and one bad apple does spoil the whole bag - there was a rotten apple in the middle of the bag and all the other apples were very soft. It all looked good and was very cheap - but the quality was also very cheap - and the workers inside were very rude - the only nice person was the lady working outside where i paid for my plant. I first found produce junction when I worked in Exton. Loved it, great prices and friendly service. I discovered there was one in Monte Clare this past year that is a little closer to where I live. Night n day difference between the two. I went to the Monte Clare location for the last time today. After repeated visits, I have found they either can't add (basic math) or they intentionally try to rip you off. To top it off there is an older girl (I use the term girl as lady just does not fit) who is just rude and miserable every time I go there. I have decided it is silly on my part to patronize this location (no sense rewarding poor dishonest behavior ). Yea so the parking lot isnt so great, but really...im not going there for the gravel, just the fruits and veggies. VERY fresh, cheap flowers also. It is true SOME veggies and fruits are pre-bagged, but there are a ton that arent in boxes and bins that allow customers to root around and find their own. I have been going to Produce Junction since i was about 7 yrs old and am now 29. I have never been disappointed. MUCH better than any grocery store in the area both in freshness and price.
