Needed to make a quick stop before heading to an event to grab some water and snacks to hold me over for the day. My intentions were to go to a competitor up the road, but saw this first. I figured I would pull in here and get it done. That way I could continue on my way fairly easily. I can confirm what one reviewer said. the parking lot here feels way too small for the location. I was here early morning and it was already nearly jampacked. I was lucky to find a parking spot and ran inside. Before I go too much into that, I wanted to touch on when I came back out. That was when I noticed that there was a broken glass bottle in the spot I took. I was lucky it didn't puncture my tire. Inside, I just did a real quick once through. I have never been in this location before. The store is laid out rather nicely and every aisle is well marked as to what is in every aisle. It made it easy for me to find things I wanted to look at. I came across a few deals and grabbed what I wanted. I made my way to the self checkouts and this is where I got a bit frustrated. One of the items, that I got two of, would not scan. No matter what I did, I could not get it scanned. I had to type the item in. Not once, but twice. Halfway through putting the second one in, it hit me with a message and made me have to go back and start over. All the while the employee sat there and watched me. Love the layout. It's well stocked and clean ... definitely an improvement from before. Today's visit was for a Father's Day card and a gift card. I assumed maybe 20 minutes but it ended up being double that ... closer to 40 minutes. That's my biggest complaint and reason for avoiding this location. It's always sooo flipping crowded, which is obviously good for them but a nuisance for customers. Also, it's sooo flipping hard to get in and out of the parking lot. I was told this is the Giant to frequent when in this area, so that is why I went to this one. It was clean, organized and the employees were helpful. They had a coffee company inside, so I delighted in an espresso while shopping. I was able to find everything I needed and check out in an easy way. I was parking on the side parkinglot and there was carts in almost all of the parking spaces where customers are to lazy to bring them back in front of the store. But there should also be a person to retrieve them often but as many as they are they been out there for a long time. read more

This location has reopened as of early November. Previous location was completely razed and this one was redesigned and built from the ground up. The old property was old and rinky dinky. This one is super-dee-duper large and has a Starbucks a large pharmacy built into either end with 16 lanes of checkout + a self-checkout area. Kinda reminds you of a Walmart, Costco or Wegmans now in terms of size. The era of the grocery superstore has long been upon us and this is the latest BIGGER/BETTER example of that phenomenon. Location also delivers your groceries curbside I think like Walmart does. Parking is double what it used to be too. The McDonald's is still around the back side and they're supposed to be some other stores occupying spaces in this newly designed "Livingston Square" strip mall but it's not clear what those will be or when they will opening. read more

Food quality is above average. It's a very nice store, clean from what I could see. The store is located on a strip mall with various small businesses and fast food operations. The store needs to improve the customer service and leadership in the deli section. The customer service I. The Deli area was much more professional when a young lady name Paris worked in the cooked food area. She provided excellent customer service and a AAA Rating for projecting an outstanding image for Giant. On my visit today to the deli section, the man cooking food is not customer oriented. He needs training on how to communicate with the public. He's more focused on himself and not the operations of the deli in the best interest of the company. This a pretty new store and closer to going to Virginia to shop like I normally do. I still go to Alexandria, Virginia even with this store close. I don't understand how with a new store half the self check-out lanes are ALWAYS not working and available. In Virginia at the giant store I never have seen this after 2 years of shipping there. Some of the products I get at Virginia location aren't available here and on some things prices are a little higher. The new store has been opened for a little over a year and in that time I can attest to shopping there at least twice a week. More times than not I'm able to find what I want, the customer service is great, and rarely do I wait in long lines. The "con" are some of the patrons. From littering in the parking lot, not returning carts to the bays (this really bothers me) and, abandoning groceries all over the store, some of the patrons seem to be bothersome. Fortunately I don't see a lot of this for I shop in the A.M. however, the few times I've shopped after 4 pm, the parking lot tidiness and store has been a wreck. It's one thing to require the staff to "keep things together" with the store however, the patrons should also do their part and not be slobs. The pharmacist are terrible they are always out of stock you have wait an average of three to four days to get your prescription filled always out of stock it's been the same refill date for my prescription for last six months. Not dependable or consistent the worker and tech are very professional but pharmacists are not plan for three to four day delay on your refills. read more

Lazy Pharamcy, bad attitudes On Monday 2/7 (445PM) visited your Livingston Rd Pharmacy. I was told my prescription was not ready and I called my Dr to verify the prescription had been called in. My Dr told me he left a voicemail more than two hours previously. The pharmacist after some encouragement checked the VM to find a prescription had been called in. He did not have all my medications so he told m that I could request a substitution that was in stock. I returned on (2/8) (1200) after knowing my Dr had updated the prescription. I was again told nothing had been called in, when. I then asked to speak to Constance the pharmacist. Constance advised nothing had been called in. I again called my Dr who advised the prescription had been called in almost two hours previously. In frustration, I asked for a store manager to come to the pharmacy with me. I was told if a prescription VM is called the pharmacist gets a notification and that the whole system was automated. I doubted the validity and accuracy of this based on my previous experience. I was asked to wait and I did while I was becoming more frustrated. When i came back I asked Constance directly did she have a VM from my Dr, to which she replied "was that a question?' as she filled my prescription. I asked her to address my question and she replied "yes!" in a very demonstrative tone. So on a second visit, a pharmacist had failed to check VMs for an incoming prescription for more than two hours ad tried to make it as if the customer or the Dr's office was at fault. read more

*Honestly, I've "yelp creeped" for at least 6yrs just to find stuff and for general reviews, but joined JUST to warn everyone of this store* I've literally lived across Hwy 210 from this "store" for the past 12yrs, and will only buy baking soda from here if my kitchen is on fire. Actually, I think I'd do without unless my neighbors let me borrow some. Hell, I've got homeowner's insurance if that doens't work out. ONLY if you're missing a high-priced, dirty, 1980's style supermarkets in your life. "But they recently installed self check-out lanes!" Between the self-checkouts being ACTUALLY OPEN.....and gambling @ the MGM, I think my odds are better at MGM honestly. Parking lot lighting sucks. The huge deserted strip mall (Giant owns!) is an eye-sore. I thought most Giants were like this until I went to Waldorf.....now I'm pissed. Giant owns the ENTIRE lot. The strip mall where they informed shop owners their leases wouldn't be renewed 6yrs ago and has been completely vacant since. The McDonalds that has lines snaking around it's drive through every morning and night (so PLENTY of $$$$$), but is so old as well that I'd rather take a piss out back by Giant's loading dock (at night) before using their stank-ass 80's excuse for a bathroom. THE ONLY WAY THIS WILL CHANGE IS FOR EVERYONE TO USE SAFEWAY/ALDI. PS: THERE'S ANOTHER MCDONALDS BY SAFEWAY. I've NO issues with the employees. They keep it as clean/stocked as they can, but they can only do so much with what they're given. And when I've asked questions over the years, it's obvious that upper-upper (district/regional) managers keep them ALL in the dark. I'm done. What I, and again.....what I suggest EVERYONE ELSE, do is drive south another two lights to Safeway, or north to 414? Oxon Hill Rd, make a right and at the 3rd light go to Aldi. If you're using Oxon Hill Rd. from Tanger, DO NOT STOP HERE! Keep going to Hwy 210, make a right, then two lights to Safeway, some decents eats and other shops there. From what I heard, they didn't want to invest in it, being one of the possible 3 sites for the MGM, and basically said, "eff it" after that. read more

To put it bluntly this Giant pretty much sucks! I used to avoid this store at all cost and drive across the bridge to the "super" Wal-Mart (sometimes Target) in Alexandria for most of my grocery shopping. The ONLY reason why I have been coming here lately is because Wal-Mart has been going down hill, and it is a much shorter drive when I just need to grab a few items. But I think I need to start heading the other direction and go to either one of the Safeways in the area. There are so many issues: This store clearly has not been remolded since the 1980s, maybe longer! The shelving systems looks super old, you can see where the paint has chipped off, and the refrigeration stations in the produce and meat departs are "suspect". I am usually hesitant to buy any cold produce here because I swear their refrigeration stations do not work properly, everything always feels lukewarm, the greens look one minute away from turning brown. The meat doesn't seem as bad, but you definitely have to take it straight home, no stops along the way! The store is always understaffed during peek times in the evening and on the weekends. It's pretty crazy, the lines are all the way down the aisles! I can't tell you how many times I've been stuck in line behind some restless little kids driving their mother crazy because they've been standing in line for 15 minutes or more. Definitely do not come here if you have to bring a child(ren)! There is a serious issue with the stocking here. They're always sold out of things, especially if it happens to be on sale that week. The managers clearly aren't anticipating their supply and demand needs. And, they must be keeping items on the shelf for longer than recommended. There have been several times when I have purchased crackers, chips or cookies here and they seemed stale. In general, Giant (all of them) are expensive, this is the reason that I do most of my grocery shopping at other places. When I do shop here I only purchase items that are on sale with the "bonus card" or I am sure to use a coupon, at least they do double those. Since this store is extremely close to me it's serves it's purpose to pick up a few things as needed but you'll never find me filling up my cart here! read more

Sometimes the fresh veggies really aren't that fresh. Sometimes during peak times, there are only about 2-3 registers open and the lines are extremely long. Sometimes the product selection isn't that great and it's over priced compared to other grocery stores. The parking lot isn't that well lit in the evenings. It's close to my house and it's open late so I go when I need to. BUT I typically drive a little further passed this Giant to the Safeway or way passed it to another Giant. Save yourselves! Run! I've actually been followed (yes followed) to my car from the front door of this store. In good news, I was able to go back inside and get a security guard to walk with me to my car, but who needs that kind of stress at a grocery store? The parking lot is poorly lit. There are loiterers and beggars from the front door to the end of the parking lot - and they're the good guys! I'd actually pay a beggar to walk with me to my car, rather than confront what lies beyond. As for the inside of the store, it's dirty, messy, chaotic, poorly run, under-stocked, employed by people who couldn't possibly care less, and yet as expensive as the lovely Giant in Ackokeek. Why bother with this one? I'll take the 15 min. drive up the street and go to Safeway, or the 25 min. drive up the road and go to the Giant in Ackokeek. Frankly, I'd rather cross the bridge and go to Whole Foods, or Trader Joes in Alexandria...or pretty much anywhere! I'd rather go hungry! Go here and you are taking your life into your own hands. Avoid lunchtime - only a few tills open despite queues - and they DON'T sell alcohol?! :( There's really not much more to say about this grocery store other than it is functional, but it has zero added value over any nearby competitor. I stopped by here yesterday June 16th for an international calling card and some alcohol for the Germany v Portugal match, and to stock up ahead of the coming fixtures going into the weekend. I got a real shock to find out on arrival that this store does NOT sell a drop of alcohol. Not even wine. My jaw nearly hit the floor. An employee was quick to suggest I stop by the local liquor purveyor at the top of the road leading back onto Hwy 210 and Parker Road. I don't think I've ever been in a grocery store that did not sell alcohol before - even the shite stuff - in any country I've lived in or travelled through. Despite that huge disappointment, I needed to find my other item. I approached the customer service desk, but as I walked up the only lady behind the counter exited the little gate, and walked off without even bothering to advise whether she would be away from her till for a few moments or for an hour's lunch. I suppose it was up for me to stand there and guess. She walked off muttering something, and I doubted it was "happy birthday." I then turned around, and asked an older chap who was scanning product by a display table between the customer service desk and the produce section, to point me in the direction of international calling cards. He looked very anxious, and said he had no idea whether the store stocked them or not. I tried to get the attention of two other employees in the adjacent aisles, but they either knowingly ignored me or knowingly ignored me. So, I walked throughout the store for about ten minutes until I found an endcap by the frozen food section signed as "Gift Card Mall." Not a great selection, and I ended up picking out the only international calling card that was on display. Away I went back up-front to pay for it. I noticed when I came in that there were long-enough queues waiting for a cashier. By this stage the queues had gotten a little longer. Not wanting to stand behind locals and listen to either their crappy music or their swearing and moaning, I headed back to the customer service desk, hoping for a quick opportunity to pay and get the hell out of the store. No such luck. The customer service lady was not back yet from her hiatus. I stood there like a big eejit for at least 5-6 minutes before a very poorly-spoken, attitude-heavy chap banged on a side-door and literally yelled out to some other employee to stick her head out. She did, and they amused each other for about a minute or two before she told him to "get the fuck back to work". She then turned to me, smiled and asked if she could help me. I handed her the card, asked to pay for it, and she cheerfully sorted me out. We thanked each other, and that was it. The place was miserable. The employees I saw throughout my visit didn't seem to have an ounce of urgency about them, and if anything probably didn't give two shites about it anyway. (Quick wrap up: basic selection, convenient, great customer service, older looking location.) This is one of those flickering lights-you can hear the buzzing noise of freezers over the music type locations. Located in a strip mall that you wouldn't want to visit. It is convenient, right off of 210 and probably on the way home for those living in fort Washington. The store overall doesn't look great, dim, shopping carts are rusted. Produce section doesn't offer very fresh looking eats and there isn't much to offer in general for those hoping to find organic/natural foods. The one plus of this store is customer service. James in produce was very helpful. He let me take fresher produce off his cart he was unloading and offered to get me produce from the back as there was none of one item I was searching for out there. read more

The food is often old, the product selection is terrible, the interior and exterior is ugly and dirty, and this is a last resort grocery store for my family and others in the neighborhood. We are now boycotting it due to the above reasons and that the store has made no attempt to improve things or expedite the redevelopment plans for Livingston Square where it is located. Terrible customer service. I'm not the type to complain in the slightest, but I've never been treated more disrespectfully in an establishment in my life. I've worked in customer service and still do, and I know when someone is having a bad day, and that won't bother me at all because I've been there before, but this cashier was not having a bad day. She was chatting it up with the customer before me, friendly as anything, and then as soon as I come along she turns on the impatience and sarcasm. I can tell you exactly what happened, because I just came home from the store and am still fuming about it. At the checkout line, a grapefruit I was trying to buy didn't have sticker on it. She says, "You see one happens when you pick one without a sticker?" Well excuse me. After swiping my credit card, a prompt came up for cash back. Before I even had time to react to it, she says, "You gotta choose one baby, that button ain't gonna press itself." Thanks, Linda. Then another prompt comes up to ask if the amount I'm being charged is correct. Again, before I even have time to react to it, she says, "Is this your first time at this store?" No, Linda, it wasn't my first time at the store. But it sure is going to be my last, thanks to you. I'm not sure what it was about me that made her want to have such an attitude, but I remember very clearly she didn't have that attitude with the two customers before me. read more

I only shop here when I am too tired to travel further out. The fresh produce is the worst selection I have ever experienced. They are constantly understaffed. I do appreciate the staff that does work at this location. Despite their obvious circumstances they are always pleasant. This is probably the most limited selection I have experienced from a grocery store. It is more like a corner market if you are a health conscious consumer. I stopped shopping here years ago. I needed cash so I stopped into the store to use the ATM. Flash! I was immediately reminded why I don't shop here. One word, GHETTO! The I saw mold on the produce, mold on the cheese. I brought this to the manager's attention and he just hunched his shoulders. Well, no worries because I will never, ever step into this store again. Walking into this giant is like taking a ride in Marty Mc'flys Dolerean and going back in time. This place hasn't been updated since the early seventies. The selection of veggies is not that great, and the meat section is lacking. The customer service can be off on some days, they hire some really young people who could not care less. One reviewer said it was dangerous, it most definitely is not, no one wants you sweetheart lol. The lines do get really long here during peak times. However it's close to my house. If I have time, I go down to the Safeway further down 210. read more

Corporate office needs to close this Giant down (especially since they've closed all of the stores it was connected to)! They never have what you need or want from one day to the next (If you want steak all out, you get ground beef, if you want turkey wings all out, you have to get chicken wings etc.). I always liked this Giant. It's a nicely laid out grocery store that has everything you need. There's a bakery, deli, pharmacy, seafood spot, florist and even a spot that sells okay soul food inside. It's definitely a one stop shop with pretty high quality products. I even used to work at this Giant a long time ago. Its large so it can be hard to find things but usually someone on staff knows where it is. I usually get pretty nice service when I'm in here. I won't give them 5 stars because they can get pricey especially without the card or any sales. And they don't have as many health options as a whole foods but they definitely have more healthy options than shoppers or safeway. They also get points for having a Red Box. read more

Each time we're in the store they are understaffed. When we call the employees either keep us on hold or hang up on us. I've been on hold for over 5 minutes waiting for the seafood dept. I've had issue after issue with this location. I even discussed it with the Customer Service Manager located inside the store and STILL no improvement. It's a neighborhood store tucked away in a mixed new and (mainly) old homes. The outside appearance garners the "gee, it could sure use some improvements" and the inside...well, it is what it is. Not much variety or quantity in the fresh fruits and vegetables section. They were out of cucumbers when I went but again, it is a small selection. Otherwise, the inventory was well-stocked and truly I was surprised to see a bakery (I saw the big baking ovens) section but was a little puzzled that most of the baked goods were the name brand stuff and very little of in house pastries. I will have to say that the hot foods deli did impress me because the fried chicken, wings, and especially the fried fish looked very good and crispy. I'll have to give it a try next time. Oh when checking out, there is no self-service but there is an express lane which when I was there was not open. Overall a decent store and actually for me better than some other Giants in VA and I would go here again. read more
