Lakesha has horrible customer service. Please put her in the back. Just asked for help and was given an attitude for asking a question...

I originally came in to make a return, and he processed it very quickly and smoothly with no hassle at all. Later on, I ended up going through his checkout line, and he was just as friendly and helpful. He even took the extra step to make sure the orchid I purchased was packed securely so it would make it home safely. It's small touches like that that really stand out and make a difference. Shopping there felt easy and welcoming, and Nathan made a simple trip to the store feel like a great experience. Customer service is everything at the end of the day, and it means a lot to me to go to a store and receive genuinely good service. Because of that, I will definitely be back. Great job, Trader Joe's, and thank you again to Nathan for the excellent service!

Most items are Trader Joe's brand, and a lot of them honestly beat big-name brands. The frozen snacks are excellent overall, with only a few misses, and you can't go wrong with the spices, meat, or coffee. One thing I really like is that you can actually ask a crew member to open a snack so you can try it right there. If you don't like it, no worries at all. The produce is fresh, and the staff keeps the store well stocked and easy to shop even if it's crowded. The ambiance feels like a small local grocery store, which makes shopping there more enjoyable. The staff is friendly and incredibly helpful, and Trader Joe's easily has the fastest baggers of any grocery store. Depending on what you're making, you might need to stop at a larger store for a few specialty items, but I can usually handle my full weekly grocery run here.

So I frequent this store a lot and actually like it. However, tonight as I walked in with my fiancé…read moreto get one small item around 9:29pm there was something we did not like. The hours say this store closes at 10pm, and again we walked in at 9:29pm. I'm not sure what the issue was with one of the young ladies working during this shift but there was obviously no self-checkouts open (like usual as of lately) so unfortunately yes it means we had to let you check us out. But the female behind the counter who had what appeared to plaits or braids in her hair with a skully cap went behind the counter as we walked up but had her back to us and huffed and puffed several times to show her irritation that we came to the checkout counter. Then proceeded to continue doing so with her back turned to us, and as the customer (and yes I've worked in customer service retail before) I should not have to make an announcement to you that I'm standing here at the counter. As if her attitude and passive aggressiveness wasn't enough, she then proceeded to say, "So y'all just going to stand there and ain't gon say anything?" I just looked at her and gave her a look that showed I'm not entertaining her ignorance. Then she said, "Okay was that it? " and we said, "Yes." and of course she continues on with the attitude and then says, "Okay.... have a good night " after she rang us up. Again I wasn't going to dignify her ignorance with a response. But I am writing this review so management can know one of the young ladies that worked that current shift tonight needs to be reprimanded and she definitely needs to be retrained on what GOOD customer service is because that clearly was not it at all; I have definitely always experienced better customer service from other workers there during the day shift and the night shift, but this is the first time I experienced extreme rudeness from start to finish. Again I've worked in customer service and retail and I understand it can be a frustrating job and it could be long days for people, however if you're going to project your negative mood and attitude onto the customers then maybe that's not the job for you and don't show up to work. This is another reason I agree with what other customers have said about the self checkout lines; if customers they're going to have to be dealing with disrespect like that on a regular basis then the self checkout lines need to be open for us to check ourselves out in peace.

Not a bad store to pick up some small items, especially if you aren't in the mood for Walmart or…read morethe other big box stores. I found everything I needed with little hassle and was greeted very politely by at least one or two employees. They only have one cashier usually so bring your patience. And, the white fellow with all the tattoos licks his fingers to get the bags loose....wasn't fond of that. But, luckily he went on his break by the time I reached the register. Overall, not a bad place to grab a few essentials. Update: I found some foreign particles in my Gain washing powder. And, the candy I bought was old and expired. I went back to the store to exchange and the manager initially refused to return my money. My husband had attempted to give her the details but apparently wasn't clear. After a somewhat heated exchange the manager Ms. Matthews allowed an exchange which I was very grateful for considering I did not have my receipt only a copy of the exchange in my bank records. It was all good in the end. I will say, I won't buy any food from this location. I'm sure the bug or whatever it was slipped in through the manufacturing process. Also, the store is extremely dirty. It needs a good deep cleaning. Management will return your items at their discretion but seem to be reasonable and professional.

Was excited to see seeded watermelons and seeded grapes! We also grabbed some jelly's and apple butter. The Apple Butter took me back to Sunday mornings breakfast at Grandmas. The bakery side had a variety of yummy treats from doughnuts, pies, cookies and cakes. Definitely grabbed a few for later. The Apple Pie ice cream my hunnie ordered was delicious. Tasted just like Apple Pie. Looking forward to our next adventure here already.

The woman who checked us out was an absolute delight, warm, funny, and exactly what you hope for at a local farm stand. Unfortunately my experience in the herb section was the opposite. When I asked about strawberry plants and was told they didn't have any, I mentioned I was a first time gardener and asked if she could recommend something beginner friendly. Her response was essentially "just pick something, all you have to do is water them." When I explained again that I was new and looking for guidance, she told me she couldn't help me. As a first time gardener trying to learn, that kind of dismissiveness was discouraging. If it weren't for the lovely woman at checkout, I likely wouldn't return. I ended up going to Ed's Plant World in Brandywine where the staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful to a beginner. The difference was night and day. That said, I'm giving 4 stars because the place is really awesome in terms of selection and variety. The woman in the herb section may have just been having a bad day. It's absolutely worth checking out.

this Safeway is a full sized grocery store in the middle of the city, which is amazing. there are…read moreother large grocery stores close by but this one is closest to sw. it has everything that a suburban grocery store has. it also has lots of security. there's always security guards in the front and in the isles. unfortunately, the fresh food quality isn't always there even though there's lots of variety and quantity. sometimes the fruit is not super fresh. the meats section is small and not the freshest. I can only speculate but I think because not everyone who shops here buys lots of fresh fruit and big packs of steaks, that stuff goes bad quickly and they don't stock it in abundance as a result, maybe because not everyone who shops here can afford that stuff. not sure. The frozen food section has lots of variety. Even has that Halo ice cream if you want a sweet treat but not the calories. They have a great baking section, spices, Asian foods, Hispanic foods. big cheese section and dairy. their eggs are crazy pricy though. they even have a large discount section. like a whole section with discounted products like cereal, beauty products and health products. This is a union store. what does that mean? I'll tell you. the employees are union employees. they are not like regular employees. I once had to ask the service desk for a cake I wanted to buy. the deli employees refused to get it for me, even though they work right there behind the counter. they were like, "no, I can't give you that cake." I'm like," just hand me the cake. I have money. I want to buy the cake." and they were like, "no I'm not going to give you the cake. I can't." This is because (as it was explained to me) the deli employees are not allowed to touch the cake as per their union contracts. which I get, you organized and negotiated a sweet contract, so you don't have to do the work or another department. but dude, just hand me the cake. you're not going to break your back by giving me a cake. so that's it. This grocery store is ok. not as bad as the reviews make it seem, but it definitely has some character, and characters in it. SW DC, show you right!

The premade potato salads were also good. The deli counter has a large assortment of salads and casseroles, the ones we tried also good. We also did the chicken pieces and sushi. These were also prepared well and tasted good. The service was interesting. It appeared that the workers didn't want to be there, and answering questions was not a part of their job. We rolled with it, no big deal. The grocery store itself was well stocked. I was not accosted at the door. I did not see any disturbances. I was able to use the self checkout each time without any issues. Our family arrived around 5 pm or later each day we were there.
