This Giant was in route to a local Malaysian restaurant and within a few minutes from a metro station. It is clean, organized and the staff is pleasant. One thing in particular that I loved about this location was the amount of self checkout registers. There is a local Giant near my place that doesn't have any self checkout, so when you find one that does, it's such a major benefit! I'd say there's approximately 10 and this is very useful on busy days. I'd go again if I'm in the area and need some groceries. -ODL Follow my IG: @AOEAT

This store is here and I'm glad that they're here, but it's not my favorite grocery store of all time. I came here because we needed to get a couple of things for a child's birthday party today. This store happened to be the closest to where the party was being held. My first couple of items included three watermelons, a dozen corn on the cobs, and I figured that I would also pick up two dozen apples while I was in the produce section. We also needed a few containers of salad dressing, so I got ranch, creamy Italian, and blue cheese. We had plenty of party favors, including several cases of beer, but we were missing drinks for the kids. I got three cases of Kool-aid jammers, and two 8 packs of cool blue Gatorade. The store had everything that we needed, and it was clean, but the guys in the deli section were talking loudly and cursing.

It's a decent size and a pretty clean and organized grocery store. It's located in a very busy area with a lot of foot traffic. But it's also near a bunch of other stores. We were in and out but seemed like a decent place.

If I ate everything in this store then I, too, would be Giant. There's no better grocery store that's open 24 hours in Washington DC itself, other than maybe over in Georgetown. Especially not in this part of town - and it's definitely a beacon in the night and a good place to hang out and grab some food. Feels a bit more like a neighborhood store than a big grocery store.

They have some great prices, but the store is always ridiculously crowded! Today there were no carts available, and I asked a cashier if she could possibly call a manager to help find some carts. She sneered at me. People were standing in the vestibule waiting for carts, and finally when a GIant worker arrived with just about ten carts, they went like hotcakes. I grabbed one, and some older man yelled at me and said he touched it first! What in the world? I felt like I was in Russia when they were rationing items back in the 80's! Was hungry and got an Italian Boars Head sub. The woman had just made it! I got home and it had american cheese on it, despite it saying on the front it would have provolone. blah. This store is dirty and most of the workers really are lame. There are a few nice ones, who are hard to find. It is obvious this store is still so mismanaged. It could be an amazing shopping experience. So sad.

    A gallant effort, however reluctant.

Updating my review after a run-in with the bakery counter. Went in early Friday evening for a cheapie sheet cake to sing around before a bday turn up. I checked out the selection while an employee took a phone order for about 5 minutes-no hold finger, no eye contact, no acknowledgment. No problem. I get it, this ain't Dean & Deluca. After the call, I got her attention and asked if she could write a message on a cake for me. For all the moans and groans, you'd have thought I'd asked for her last cigarette. "*sigh* You have to purchase these. The baker's gone for the day. *sigh* If you buy it, I guess I'll print on it for you *sigh*" Well damn. Ok. Appreciate you? So I bring the cake back and she takes it behind the counter to write on it. Little did I know she had a serial killer's penmanship. It was legible and the cake was tasty but geesh kind of a sour 'tude.

    Formula is locked up.

This is a conveniently located grocery store, just a few steps away from the Columbia heights metro and DC USA. Step in and you'll find the produce section straight ahead and the bakery to the left. The produce section is really hit or miss, with many items often missing. The produce is generally very fresh and the prices are right... When items are stocked. In theory, they have quite a few items however the high volume of traffic means that the selection is often very picked over. I've never bought meat here as the store isn't kept clean and the employees are very inattentive. I'd recommend sticking to pre packaged items, produce and, I'd make sure to check the expiration dates on all items. The location never seems to have enough open registers and many of the self checkout kiosks are broken. Lines are often backed up (I've seen them extend to the back of the store at times). Unless you're on foot and you need something immediately, I'd recommend going to the new Safeway on Georgia Ave. It's infinitely nicer and better kept.

    So much for organic!

Could use more cashiers, 8 people in line at one of two open registers. Self check out is for people with just a few items

I don't feel safe at this pharmacy and neither should you…read more Store itself is fine. Getting a vaccine is fine. I would recommend to anyone thinking of picking up a prescription to look elsewhere. I would not fill a prescription here if it was life-saving. For those of you unfortunate enough to have experience with CVS pharmacists, you are probably very familiar with the ethically dubious practices and excuses they make their life's work, but this pharmacy decided to take it up a notch and I feel compelled to not let it go unrecognized. I asked for an update on my prescription and they told me it was illegal to do 90 days for this drug. So I decided to call and see if it could be sorted out and was again told it was illegal and my 10 year prescription history of 90 days was illegal. When I pushed back I was later told my 90 day history never happened. I was later told they didn't have it in stock. They were playing the greatest hits like a cover band. As an aside, I believe most CVS pharmacists change quantity of prescription for customers instead of doing inventory management. A conspiracy I'm sure most believe but cannot yet prove. Another seems-true-but-not-enough-evidence-yet is that they delay more for sicker or older patients to give themselves less work long-term. Anyways, back to my prescription, It's not illegal. In the 10 years, I've heard every excuse in the book these folks use to not do their jobs, but never have I been accused of criminal behavior and never have I been lied to about my own medical history. So I called my doctor's office shared some frustration and a little laugh and reached out to a lawyer to confirm I am not, in fact, the El Chapo. All this over filling a prescription I have had for 10 years. I reached out to CVS corporate - yuck - to report this behavior and got every reassurance that this is par for the course so I am writing this. Begging the public to not go to this pharmacy. CVS corporate will probably get another review since they asked me for a survey and then end the call on my first attempt. Glad to know my tax dollars are subsidizing a datacenter for automated call responses that go nowhere. OK back to my revenge. I planned to reach back out this morning since I was still upset I was lied to and still upset that I was accused of a criminal conspiracy with my doctor's office. I didn't actually think a resolution was coming this morning, I'm not an idiot. I reached back out because I wanted to inconvenience them. I wanted them to be inconvenienced the way they've inconvenienced me. I wanted them to feel the frustration my doctor's office and I had. I wanted to be a CVS pharmacist right back to them. I asked my doctor's office to send the prescription elsewhere, then reached out this pharmacy demanding an update on my prescription. I am not even in town. It's the perfect revenge. I act all upset (which like yeah, I am upset, but not upset for the delay this time, upset they lied to me), demand some answers in my message, talk about how my doctor's office and I feel wronged, give a deadline of ASAP, actually make them worried they might have to do their jobs. Now usually they would just ignore, take a 4 hour lunch, then dip, but I downloaded the CVS app and you can send messages to the pharmacy. I encourage everyone to take a moment to realize how idiotic an auto-messaging system is with no cap for spamming. Only a company as dumb as CVS would have that be an option, and I bet they even monitor response time. I was clicking "I would like a callback" whilst pouring my cereal. A pharmacist gave me a ring - different one this time. I wanted to record the call and post whatever stupid response they gave to social media and make a bunch of ~memes~ about it IYKYK. But as I have alluded to, I am not a breaker of laws. Despite this company's insistence that I am Scarface, I was well aware of my current jurisdiction that I cannot record without consent. So I asked, consent wasn't given, and I hung up. And though I can't do any super hilarious memes referencing my favorite nintendo characters, it was enough to get the wheels spinning. 30 minutes after I hung up I got an alert "your prescription is ready for pick up". Lol like I was going to pick up this prescription. Fat chance, clowns. Healthcare in this country is a train wreck. Insurance companies are the conductors and CVS Pharmacists are the ones shoveling coal into the firebox and accusing customers of being Casey Jones. I hope some of you out there who hate working with CVS pharmacies end up adopting the strategy of trying to get them to do their job only to rug-pull.
