It is in a convenient location, but the stock, cleanliness and service was lacking. The line was really bad, with no effort from the management or employees to expedite the process. People were just leaving items and heading out - probably needed to catch a connector. The stock was low and just scrambled together. Better places really close. read more

It's refreshing to find a nice Walgreens anywhere these days but inside Union Station in Washington DC, very nice. There's no pharmacy here but it's clean, well stocked and huge. I've been here several times and the last train trip to Pittsburgh we spent a few hours at Union Station and when my honey said M&M's this made the visit a must :-) It's on two levels and the lower level has both stairs and a wheelchair accessible ramp. Oh, there's a sushi bar inside, I know right :-) It wasn't open on this Sunday and I couldn't get any real info about it but I've read others comments that they line the sushi here. The staff aren't very friendly but they get the job done. Bottom line: They have almost anything you'd expect from any Walgreens anywhere. read more

8/18/21 When I was visiting Union Station back on August 7th 2021, I had taken so many photos, I had forgotten to get to some of the places I visited.  While eating my lunch at the Chick Fill-A, I noticed a store called Walgreens.  This store was new to me at this location.  The store looked very new as well. I noticed a security guard standing near the entrance to prevent people from stealing.  Something that obviously has happened at this store; as well, as other places.   Still from what I saw, there are many items to choose from. Especially if you thought you had it all, and then realized you forgot to pack underwear,  toothpaste,  need headache medication  or simply need something like a cellphone charger.   Walgreens will come in handy for what ever you need. These thoughts crossed through my mind for the people traveling to or through Washington DC metropolitan area.   I have taken the train at Union Station and it quite an experience.   I will write about that later on. Thoughts about this store being around when I rode the train would have been nice to have, but that wasn't an option back then. I don't remember what store was here before, but by the way everything was stocked and neatly organized,  I could see this store being a big hit.  People were going in and out of this store. This Walgreens is in Union Station. I'm staying at a hotel nearby, so figured I could go here to grab some necessities and cough medicine for my toddler. I wish I googled the Walmart that was around the corner because I would have just went there. Cough medicine, I purchased was literally double the price of what I usually pay, I knew it would be a little bit more because of us being in DC and it being Union Station, but dang. The Associates were really friendly, but the store was a mess. It was dirty and didn't have a good stock of items. read more

Located in the basement of Union Station, this location has all your snacking needs covered for your Amtrak trip. It also has the requisite homeless person causing a scene at the cash register, arguing loudly that the eight pack she purchased was ringing up as nine items and that one should be removed. I placed a single photo order for a pack of business cards with next day shipping. 31 days later, 6 trips to the store, and multiple emails stating my package was delivered. Each time the store employees told me they could not find it and to come back. I contacted customer service, who told me they were unable to tell me where my package was or ship me a new package. This was supposed to be an easy check in the box item that had since consumed hour and hours of my time. read more

I would like to think of this as your nontraditional Walgreens store. It is not set up like any other I have ever been in and that is more than likely because it is located inside a train station and they have to make due with the space they have. It is very interesting nonetheless. This place is well stocked with everything you would expect to find in a drugstore, so no big surprise there. What is surprising is how it is set up. I walked around for a good ten minutes just looking for a toothbrush. One thing that needs definite improvement is the lines at the checkout. Or at least install some self checkouts to keep the lines moving. It was seriously a snail's pace here. read more

This drug store is well stocked and convenient. I think this is the only one that I have ever seen with a sushi bar! most people make the comment that they would not trust sushi made in a drug store, but believe me it is good and made fresh. The line are very long, but they move fast. They have two counters at one counter they have three cashiers and at the other one there are two cashiers. The staff is generally helpful, I saw a lady yelling at the cashier and the cashier stayed calm and continued serving the other people in line. I think it takes a special person to work any place in union station, and the staff in Walgreens are those special people. If ever in Union station stop in to Walgreens and try the sushi. It's hard to rate this Walgreens - do I rate them based on the convenience of having a giant convenience store in Union Station? Or do I rate them based on their exorbitant prices compared to other drug stores? Ultimately, I put more value in the convenience of having this giant (for DC) convenience store in Union Station. There's a random assortment of pre-prepared foods, magazines, and souvenirs, so it provides good one stop shopping for someone waiting for their train or bus. Though I wonder how many folks passing through Union Station find the Walgreens since it's on the basement level. I live in Vienna, but work near Union Station, and I've been surprised to find the Union Station Walgreens has certain random items in stock that the Vienna and Fairfax Walgreens don't have in stock. One note - There is no pharmacy here, so you'll have to continue to get your prescriptions filled somewhere else. Perhaps the Giant on H Street NE, which never seems to have anyone waiting in line at the pharmacy desk. read more

The first Walgreens in Union Station is exciting. There are plenty of shops that sell clothes, shoes, jewelry and food. It is nice to have an alternative to the over priced magazine stands. You can grab a snack, batteries, a phone charger and a T-shirt from DC. It is located at the rear of the food court. Bonus points for the escalators. read more

To reiterate another yelper's sentiment: Beth L. states: "It's great to have a place to get a reasonably priced bottle of water or last minute travel sized items, before hoping on the train to head out of town". I deeply agree with her. For years I've travel through Union station and would cringe over the thought of not having water or a snack and having to buy one of the stores expensive items. We stopped into this Walgreens after having had lunch to pick up some snacks for the afternoon and some first aid supplies. Holy smokes! We could have had lunch here! Salads and sammies and sushi, oh my! This is not a Cleveland Walgreens; might be able to pick up a box of cookies there, but not a meal. We experienced Walgreens food service on an even larger scale last year while visiting San Francisco, and thought it was unique to SanFran, but evidently not. The store itself is very nice. I just wish that the staff were more educated on products and that there was a larger selection of natural hair products and skin care for POC. The only brand they carry really is Shea Moisture and not everyone uses this. This is a really great Walgreens! It's so bright and clean and everyone is so friendly. I'm amazed at the variety of items they sell here. Seasonal accessories (from scarves and boot socks with lace on top, to sheer "cover all" wraps), made-to-order sushi (which is surprisingly decent, especially given that it's a drug store!), fresh flowers, computer and tech accessories, and my personal favorite, the fro-yo bar! I've come in on more than one occasion looking for greeting cards and I love that they have cards for various ethnicities. There has been a time or two that they have not had what I needed, but I guess you can only keep so many products in one store. That aside, this place is great and it's just what Union Station needs. read more

I just visited your new store at Union Station Washington, DC and experience the worst service ever in the history of shopping at your stores. I was pitching a yogart and as your store manager if there were spoons and his reply was that th ed spoons was for the for the frozen yogurts out of the machine not the yoplay the I interned on purchasing. He the proceed to say with much attitude that he doesn't know why we, meaning myself and your shopping public feels that they are to give us spoons for that yogurt. I simply could not beleive this man was the manager with such an attitude and would say such a thing that I put back the yogurt with out purchasing anything and proceeded out the store. If this is the best quality of personnel you are hiring it speaks volumes. I wil not ever return to your store nor will I encourage the public to support such an establishment. The fact that management has such a disregard for the customer is both shocking and repulsive. I was so excited when I saw Union Station was adding a walgreens so their list of retail because they desperately needed a drugstore on location. However I'm so disappointed how horrible this location is for them to have just opened. I've been in about three times and the pros were on two occasions the employees checking me out were really friendly however I can't be sure if it was more them just trying to flirt or be helpful lol. Also they have really good fresh sushi and the sushi chef will make whatever you like if they are around. Now for the cons. The employees yet again. They are not very helpful, in fact one of the times the guy didn't even speak to me a checkout! No hello, thank you, or anything! Also they are definitely a over priced compared to other locations so be mindful. Lastly I was so excited the first time I went in they had a frozen yogurt station. However the one time I went in specifically to get some the area was completely trashed, hardly any toppings, and no napkins or spoons, and of course no one there to assist so I decided to just pass. New Walgreens in Union Station is FINALLY open! It's great to have a place to get a reasonably priced bottle of water, or last minute travel sized items, before hopping on the train to head out of town. I work right next door, so I'm thrilled to have a drugstore nearby and was disappointed to see they don't have a pharmacy (or a quick clinic), but one of the very friendly workers mentioned that, if the demand is there, it could happen in the future, as there is space that is unused (apparently there used to be a movie theater here!) Since there's really no place to pick up 'scripts/a drug store in the immediate area, it would be great if they got on that. The store was nice, relatively clean and well-organized - with a good selection of snacks, personal items, beauty products, etc. (the usual walgreens items). They have a sushi bar with decent looking sushi (the folks making it fresh there will make you something if you don't see what you want from the selection) and they have self-serve fro yo! read more

If you need something while you are traveling in DC, this is a decent Walgreens. They have a good variety of snacks, food, your typical drugstore items, and travel sized items in case you forgot anything. The lines can be a bit long. read more

The shift manager, Michael, was very arrogant, impatience and probably one of the worst manager you can deal with. He kept snapping at me when I wasnt using the credit card correctly at the checkout. Items are overpriced and the employees are rude. The employees and management in this store are to busy assist customers. If a Walgreens employees does speak to a customer they either seem to talk down to them or get angry and yell. Avoid this Walgreens there are cheaper and better places to shop nearby. read more
