Called in an order asked for old bay on my fries. I was put on hold three times so they can figure out what old Bay is and if they even had it in house picked up my steak which was a John Gotti the tomato sauce was burnt ,roll was soggy what I was informed on the phone for the price I got a different price when I arrived. Really just another classic example of a restaurant - despite giving it their all - coming up a bit short. My life is a perfect example of that classic example. Life is a blackhole of despair. Oh, and if you ever feel bad about a low score I hand out, DON'T. I'll be the first to admit that I'm a nobody and no one in their right mind should actually take anything I say to heart. Now that's off my chest, let's start with what I did like. The Antipasto salad was a great mix of pepperoni, ham, tomato, onion.. you name it. A couple thin shreds of cheese thrown in. No croutons (thank GOD). Could have used some black olives. But overall, good size, and not a bad rendition. I'd give it a 7.5/10.0. The Chef Salad was a bit of a disaster. In all my years I've never seen the meat layered on top like that. Usually the meat and cheese is rolled up then sliced. Not just placed on top. It's a bit grotesque here at Giavanna's. Not pleasing to the eye, I'll tell you that much. Italian Sub - wet, slimy lettuce. Not sure what happened there. It was drenched in water. Ok, so they rinsed it. No problem there. But pat it dry for the love of Christ. Also didn't scoop out any bread on the rolls. So there was too much roll in each bite. No one wants to bite into a sub and eat 90% bread. Chicken Marsala - Jesus, where do I begin. Canned mushrooms. Thick-breaded chicken. I don't mind a little breading on chicken parm, but this was laid on so thick. It was like a piece of KFC. Then the biggest issue was there was not even close to enough sauce on the pasta. Honestly just the most bizarre order of Chicken Marsala I ever saw. Didn't taste bad, but it wasn't Chicken Marsala, I'll tell you that much. Also, the pasta "dinners" didn't come with salad or bread. So just a heads up. 99% of "dinner" category entrees at any other local Italian restaurant will come with a small salad and/or bread. Not here, though. Times are understandably tough. Will I ever order from Giavanna's again? Hell yeah! At the end of the day, the food is gonna fill you up with yummy goodness, and the owners/staff are stand-up people. If not for the food, do it for them. They deserve it. read more

Giavanna's probably has the best deals around Shillington/Kenhorst for pizza and hoagies. It's odd that the hoagies do not come with onions?! That would have added perfection to the Italian. The customer service is subpar, as one of the young guys who takes orders is not very friendly or customer service oriented. However, everyone else over the phone is polite. In person, they are not the most chipper bunch of humans, however they do have fast service and the food is decent for what you're paying. The combo deals are the best, so definitely get a menu and look at those. Their hoagies and steak sandwiches costs the exact same price, however only the hoagies are part of the combo deals, so maybe I'm just not understanding why that is. The restaurant itself is more for takeout, as the place is a small little shop with some inside space to eat and like one outside table. This is certainly one of my favorite spots to order from. I do hope they continue to improve with their customer service skills. The place has potential to be great, but they have to believe it first. read more

Wouldn't even give it one star but had to.got a cheese steak with no onions and they didn't even put sauce on it.that I understand some places you have to ask for it ok then I ordered an Italian sandwich.i also ordered hot peppers in oil for the steak sandwich.well they gave me jalapeno peppers on the side and a side of oil in little containers.then we opened the Italian and it had no onions on it just ham and hard salami that was brown and slimy.so I called them and they said they don't put onions on the Italians.took the sandwiches back and got my money back.customer service were really rude and didn't offer to take back the sandwiches.so I took them back myself and showed them the salami was bad and then they gave me the money back.will never go there again.not even a sorry from them. read more

After multiple negative experiences, I will never order pizza from here again. I ordered through an app on a Friday night. They delivered the wrong order. I contacted the app and they attempted to contact Giavanna's but they refused to answer the phone. The app eventually got ahold of them the next day and Giavanna's refused to refund the order. Originally I just wanted my order fixed but since that wasn't possible, due to them not answering the phone, I chose to ask for a refund. But they refused. Unfortunately this isn't the first time I've had a negative experience with them. I decided to give them another chance, because everyone has an off day, but never again. It's not worth it. Phoned in 2 sandwiches. Large Cheesesteak no onions, LG Italian with everything. Asked for peppers in oil he didn't understand what I was talking about. He sent reg peppers in a container with a regular container of olive oil. The Cheesesteak had no sauce, well ok but usually they ask. The Italian had no onions which is rare because you usually have to ask for NO onions not ask for onions. Well I put my own onions on and took a bit and it turned my stomach. I opened it up and pulled the meat apart and the hard salami was Brown . It was bad. So my husband called and the young man who took the order was rude and had a terrible attitude . So we rolled both sandwiches up and returned them.The guy still was rude again. My husband opened the sandwich and showed him the brown bad meat. He returned our money with a full refund. If health inspectors went in there , wow . I'm sick to my stomach. We will never ever go back. I hope they change their attitude and check their meats. Very disappointed to say the least. First time getting a delivery from Giavanna's. We just got a shrimp and chicken finger appetizers. It was delivered within the time they said it would be even on a rainy night. Both appetizers were DELICIOUS! Each were hot, the shrimp were large and perfectly fried. The chicken was moist with a great dipping sauce and fresh. What a great surprise, we will be back! I hate writing this review honestly. I order pizza from here when ever we order out. I always order close the same thing every time. The past few times the 2 pizzas I order with extra cheese doesn't actually have it on. I know that cause I also order 1 without extra cheese and they are exactly the same. Today, all 3 pizzas didn't look freshly made, looks like it was reheated, and the crust was a lot thinner than normal. Might be awhile before we order again from there. read more

Wow, not sure what to say. I ordered a pizza for pickup. Was told 30-40 minutes. Gave them 40 as it was Friday night. Walked in and one of the 5 young guys milling about got it . I paid and then the cook who seemed to be the only one working starts yelling that "my" pizza was to be sent on a delivery. I couldn't believe it and protested - the cook got really aggressive and told me to get out . I took my money and dug the dollar out of the tip jar and left . Pizza is good. The Monday and Tuesday $7.00 pickup large pizza deal is especially great. The staff was friendly all 3 times that I have been there. Wings are good but very pricey. The salads are below average in my opinion. We've had 2 and both just didn't taste freshly made. The online ordering system used to offer a small discount. It now adds a $1.50 surcharge onto every order as a 'convenience fee.' This seems to be a convenience for the business that doesn't have to pick up the phone so I'm not sure why customers should have to pay for the 'privilege' of ordering. This also sort of undermines the value of their repeat customer program where your 11th order is discounted (You just paid $15.00 in convenience fees for absolutely nothing on the first 10 orders). I love supporting local businesses but there are just too many great pizza places in the area to tolerate anything but the best in terms of quality and customer service. read more
