Ever since new ownership in 2025, this has become a downright negligent operation. They missed multiple feedings for my horse, and would leave her water bucket dirty or nearly empty. Maintenance would come do repairs on ladders with horses in their stalls, causing some horses to panic, kick, and risk hurting themselves as well as the hired staff. Horses would escape their stalls because maintenance forgot to lock the gates. The owners came in and drove up board from $525 a month to $650, without making any significant improvements (and I wouldn't be surprised if it's even higher now). They added new farrier racks, but made them concrete with no mats, and made them too narrow so horses couldn't turn around in them. They evicted longtime RV tenants off of the property. They cut down the beautiful trees that provided shade, and it became dusty all the time. After jacking up the price, they charged a mandatory additional fee to fly spray the facility. They jacked up prices for trailer parking, and were asking non-boarders to pay a fee to park or ride on the property. The main arena would close randomly for maintenance without any warning. So there would be days I'd drive 45 minutes to the barn just to find the arena closed. They shifted focus towards hosting events, where non-boarders would come to drink, blast music and get rowdy, causing undue stress for the animals. Maybe that's what some people are looking for in a boarding facility, not me. Soon we weren't able to store our own shavings solely because the owner wanted us to buy them from HIM. Their boarder contract stated they were allowed to euthanize your horse if your horse was sick and they couldn't get in touch with you. They created a senseless list of arbitrary rules, threatening boarders constantly if they didn't follow them. One respected veterinarian in the community now refuses to go to Gibson, because the owners have forbidden vets from helping horses in their stalls. It went from a barn that felt easy-going, with approachable owners who took pride in their property, to a barn owned by a paranoid, money-hungry corporation. People like them genuinely makes me lose faith in humanity. Bottom line is they decided to rule with an iron fist, and lost most of their boarders, including myself. I just wish I had left sooner. Thankfully I have since found a wonderful boarding facility that loves and cares for their horses. read more
