The horse I rode jumped from my leg brushing his belly, so I had to float my legs off his body the entire time. I'm not sure he was well enough to ride that day if his belly was that tender. The other horses did not get along and fought while on the trail. This led to one horse spooking/attacking another and caused my friend to fall. She had difficulty walking, but was asked to get back on the horse despite laying on the floor in pain. After she couldn't get on, we thought the guide would call for help. But we found out later that the guide simply called her coworker and told them she'd be late for her next ride. Are you kidding me? Someone gets hurt and your first thought is your next paycheck? Our friend had to continue on foot since the guide told us we could not get off to help her. I don't think she would've made it all the way. We were lucky to run into fire authorities that gave her a ride. The authorities clarified they were NOT contacted by the guide and they were there for a separate event. We took our friend to the ER ourselves to get a spinal scan which thankfully turned out with bruising only. Afterwards, we were not offered a refund. We get it, horses have bad days and are unpredictable. But there is no excuse for having a guide that is so severely untrained and unempathetic. In a real emergency, you do not want to be caught in the middle of a nowhere with no signal and a "guide" that doesn't even know how to call for help or care about you. She just sounded like she wanted it over with. Really horrified and disappointed by the negligence here.

Jesus worked tirelessly to make my horse comfortable, and I really appreciate his most recent efforts. He installed rubber mat flooring and built containment boards for my stall so the shavings would stay put. Now I don't have to worry about my horse standing in mud when it rains. In addition, Lalo and Rafael, are super helpful and friendly, and are always willing to give any assistance I need. The ever vigilant Butch is a very knowledgeable steward of the herd he manages, and will be the first to notice if your horse is sick. The barn culture is very relaxed and positive and you will feel supported by all the other boarders there. It truly is a loving community of horse lovers. I'm currently working with trainer Sandra, who is skilled and kind. She is really helping my horse become calmer and better every day she works with him. I'm so so happy to have found my happy place at Peacock Hill Ranch.

I was in the hospital for five days, and had to find a safe haven for him in a hurry. I found La Tuna Stables and it's been so wonderful that I'm staying. It's so much more serene here. A wonderful retreat for horses and humans. There is a riding ring and lots of trails nearby to be enjoyed. The owner Sheila is very caring and completely took over care of my horse while I was recuperating, and still helps me a lot for a fee. My horse is very happy in his huge stall and another bonus is that we have a beautiful sunset every night! The way the property is located, lends it self to beautiful sunsets. I work full-time so it's nice to know that he is well taken care of and when I visit him, he seems content. I would highly recommend La Tuna stables for drama free people who want the best for their horse!!

Not sure about people's nonsensical complaints, but yes.... this is located near a rural highway, but it wasn't busy or inconvenient. Also, yes, they were generous to provide a free shuttle service from your parking spot to the entrance in a golf cart, which we really appreciated because we didnt have to walk in the heat, which is the obvious alternative. The tickets are a great price, especially knowing that it ultimately goes back to help the animals. Some people seem to be confused on the nature of this establishment. It is not a traditional "petting zoo" -- its an *animal sanctuary*. (Which is well disclosed everywhere, if you just take a moment to read a little bit, you'll clearly understand that). Their whole point is to rescue farm animals from cruelty and *slaughter* -- so it seems like common sense that a place that literally rescues farm animals from being slaughtered would also, of course, oppose slaughter and therefore, support veganism. Not complicated to comprehend if you just think it through a little. Obviously, it wasnt forced anyway -- it was just offered incase people were interested. No pressure. All of the volunteers we encountered were incredibly sweet and knowledgeable. You can tell theyre genuinely passionate about animals. They enforced the boundaries of the animals well, while keeping things fun and safe for everyone. Awesome facilities, very clean, and well planned. My family and I drove out to see this place last weekend because we love animals and had heard…read moreabout it for years. We arrived to find parking along a busy highway (?!?), with golf carts shuttling visitors to and from the entrance, just a few feet away from cars whizzing past. That was weird. Then we got to the sort of holding area where they keep guests until their reservation time. Before we went in, the owner came out to greet us...sort of. She gave us a basic history of the place, but before she did, she wished us "happy pride" and told us all about how virtuous she was, as if everyone should be celebrating? Weird and inappropriate to say the least. The last thing she did before allowing us the entrance we'd paid handsomely for, was to lecture us about becoming vegans. Which is one of my biggest pet peeves about vegans to begin with. Then she stood at the entrance and offered everyone literature on veganism as we walked past. I declined. Wholly inappropriate, offensive and off putting. I didn't pay to be lectured about something I disagree with. It was nice to (finally) see and interact with the animals, but some of the volunteers were too much. I understand they're used to dealing with idiots every weekend, but some of the instructions they were giving were flat out dangerous, like having babies (maybe 18 months old) feed carrots to grabby, nippy horses. Bad idea when little hands aren't any bigger than the carrots. Most (not all) volunteers were just a bit too power trippy and under-educated for my taste. I will say the facilities were pretty clean and appeared well kept, but the horses and donkeys were filthy and in dire need of grooming. Give your visitors brushes and curry combs and show them how to brush the animals. Win-win for everyone. It was nice to hang out with the animals, but most of the people I could do without. Probably won't be back again.
