Joe and son moved my parents across town. They picked up and drove the rental truck, moved the…read moreboxes and furniture with speed and efficiency, stopped by a storage warehouse and wrestled a sofa down off a high shelf (12' at least), also with speed and efficiency. Joe visited the old residence in order to provide a free estimate, which was realistic. (We feel several other companies lowballed the estimate. To be fair, they didn't have a chance to visit the property, but, for example, one company estimated three hours total, which we believe even an amateur would find wildly unrealistic, given our description over the phone.) In the end, we weren't 100% packed, and opted to pack and move some remaining small items ourselves. This contributed (a bit) to coming in under the estimated time, but I believe they would have anyway. We were delighted with their work, and with the no-surprises estimate. In keeping with the "and more" portion of their name, we've discussed two other potential jobs: running chicken wire along a fence, to keep a small dog in, and building an access ramp for my dad. We owe Joe more information about the ramp, but I can tell you that the estimate for the chicken wire was so reasonable that we immediately abandoned all thought of doing it ourselves.

The owners came to my home in October 2015 to look over everything very carefully in order to…read moredetermine what size truck was needed. I have moved many times and had a good idea ahead of time what size to get. They spent at least an hour there, making many notes and going over everything. Without going into detail, what happened was unthinkable. They arrived with a truck that was too small. After loading it more than half way with less than half of my belongings, they finally realized this. They had to get another truck - THE NEXT DAY - and unload an reload everything. They also kept saying that there was no way the motorcycle was going to fit. Well, not only did it fit in the larger truck, but there was room to spare. The second motorcycle would have fit as well, but I didn't want to deal with them any further, so I put it in my pick-up truck and hauled it myself (three days, two nights). This incompetence on their part delayed my trip a full day, which was a huge inconvenience. In transit from NM to MO, I found that it was going to take extra time to transfer our funds from the NM bank to a different bank in MO. This was completely out of our control and I felt horrible about it. I spoke with the owner and told her what was happening and that I had no choice but to mail them a check for the balance, rather than paying the balance upon delivery. The owner said she understood and trusted me for it. I repeat, I felt horrible about it but had no control over the bank. When the delivery was made, I had not yet arrived, but my husband was there. I received a call from the owner wondering why my husband didn't have a check for the driver. Was she incoherent the day before when all of this was discussed??? Interestingly enough, the unique legs to my desk were accidentally left with the driver, and the owner did not mail them to me until my check was received by her...held hostage? The female owner, although nice, is clueless. The driver and the hired hands were very capable and nice as well.

A few months back we moved from our house in Las Cruces, NM to Dallas Tx. For this move we chose…read morean Allied Moving Van company called The Moving Company. This is our story: The Moving Company charged us over FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS to move our things. We were offered a supplemental insurance policy from the moving company itself, but the policy was so expensive we thought we'd never recoup the cost, even if they broke lots of things. We were WRONG. The list of items broken and destroyed is too long to list , but these are a few of the things that were broken and/or destroyed. An outdoor dining table---the movers actually told us that this happened when they decided that rather than carry the table the length of the van, they just SHOVED it to the exit, and snapped one of the legs off in the process; a handmade outdoor fountain with sculptured metal bamboo shoots mounted on a concrete base had the bamboo pieces broken completely off the base; a very heavy stone angel had one of the wings broken off; a Storyteller sculpture had several of the children broken off; a glass lamp was completely shattered--nothing left but the lampshade; a large metal accent piece with many arms was completely misshapen; a Lladro porcelain figurine had a large piece broken completely off; many, many serving pieces were broken and destroyed, along with crystal stemware with the stem snapped off. These are just a FEW of our ruined items. So you can see that these were not just small dishes and serving pieces. These were large, substantial pieces of art and furniture. We honestly began to feel that this had to be almost deliberate. There were things snapped off and broken off, and not as a result of a slight shift in packing. Not even things that we had pointed out as being valuable and important were packed in bubble wrap or Styrofoam, and certainly had no crating around them. We could understand a few broken pieces, but this was RIDICULOUS. In a subsequent call to the Moving Company, we were told that since our experience, things have changed. This company knows they are in the wrong. Moving is hard, even when it goes well. When you have thousands of dollars of damage done to your items, it becomes very personal. We were never offered an apology other than "we're sorry you're upset." In fact, in one reply to us, it was mentioned that we were just upset because we didn't take the extra insurance and so we were upset that we didn't get lots of money. We wonder, IF we had paid for more insurance, would they then have been more careful? If you have a choice, don't choose this company. I know they have had good reviews in the past, so we're just not sure what happened to us. But it could also happen to you.
