Great selection, friendly staff. This place is a 5 minute walk for me....great to have such a good liquor store so close by. What's unique about this place is that it's good for Joe 6 Pack and William Wine Snob alike! Lots of selection, whether you want some regular old brew to go with your pizza or burgers, need a fine merlot, or are itching to mix up cocktails with some high end booze. They usually do tastings on Friday evenings, which are cool. They had a great sample of brews from Utah last time I went in. They do have sales/promotions every once in a while, single malt scotches were 20% off or something recently. Prices are reasonable, and they get bonus points for having chips and snacks too. I've always found beer and chips to be a divine combination while grilling. What else to say? These guys do a great job! read more

This is a lovely place in its own way. It is quite a funny place too as the owners obviously want to be more upmarket than there customer base allows them to be! They have very nice wine tastings on Fridays and Saturdays too. read more

If they don't have it, they'll get it. Knowledgable and accommodating staff who treat people with courtesy and respect. It's the old school of doing business. A decent wine and beer store got a whole let better when Beth Leduc became their wine manager. She is friendly and very knowledgeable, but what keeps me coming back is that she knows our taste in wine and can recommend wines she thinks we will like. If you live near the store, it's worth getting to know her. The wine selection is reasonable for a small-to-midsize place. The prices are about the same as other places, but we save money by buying case quantities - and they can be mixed cases. They sell wines in most price categories, though most are in the mid-range, which suits me fine. The weekly tastings (Friday and Saturday) are a good way to find new wines to enjoy. Beth is usually the one serving, so this is a good time to get to know her. read more

First off, I'll say the staff is great and it's a really nice, though small, store. Second, and this is because it's small, the selection is really limited. I'm giving it 3 stars because the last two times I've gone in, the beer I've chosen was totally skunked. Imagine, it's the end of a long week and you say "Hey, it's been a long week and I feel like having a delicious, refreshing, cold beer. I think I'll walk down to the store." You walk in and make your selection, a little friendly chit chat, and then get home to enjoy your treats. Nope. Oh well, maybe next time I'll just get wine. C'est la vie... read more

The staff at Giles are always friendly, helpful, and always ready with a suggestion! I've also never had them try to up-sell me on wine when they give suggestions, which seems to happen a lot at other liquor stores. The staff and the wide variety of beer and wine make this my go-to store when in the need of an adult beverage after one of those days :) read more

I agree, the wine tastings are wonderful! The woman that runs the tastings is super knowledgeable! Giles is a surprise, they certainly do pack alot into the store. It is not overly small, but it isn't a closet either. They pack the store with a fantastic selection of wines, beer and have an assortment of hard stuff. The staff is very attentive. Worst experience ever the cashier was an African American man super rude has no sense of customer service rejected my ID just because my friend had joined me did not touch anything and was rejected we felt very embarrassed and this store needs a new staff because the customer service skills are non existing . Very disappointed we had to go to a store down the street that treated us very better and had what we needed . Don't go here there expensive and rude !!!!! read more

I've been in the market for some higher class bourbons recently, which I've had trouble getting at other local liquor stores, and ran across quite a selection. There were two surprises here...not only didn't they have the mass-market stuff (Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, etc), they did have Blantons and Elijah Craig, among others, which I've seen highly recommended recently and haven't found anywhere else. It's a small store, so don't expect a huge selection, but you might be pleasantly surprised. read more

They have a pretty large selection of wines, spirits and beers at this wonderful establishment including 2 or my favorite liquors Chartreuse and Aperol. And if I can't find that specific drink to quench my palette the staff here are great at pointing me towards something similar! When it comes to stocking my private wet bar on my private jet and yacht I don't go anywhere else. read more

When I first moved to Arlington, I had a couple run-ins where the gentleman behind the counter did not believe my ID was me....I'm almost 25, mind you.... but after that, I feel like a member of the Giles family! read more

I went in to buy some Bourbon County Brand Stout which has a limited annual release. The cashier rung up one 4-pack for $30.99. I asked him if they put the price in their system correctly because these go for closer to $20. He told me 'no'. I told him "That's a ripoff!" and then put the two 4-packs back on the shelves and walked out upset, knowing that they were inflating the price just because Bourdon County Brand Stout is sought after beer. I went to Downtown Wine and Spirits in Davis Sq., Somerville, MA and proceeded to get a 4-pack of the same beer for $22. Giles wanted to charge about 37% more than the normal price for a four pack. That is ridiculous price gouging and I will not be going back to Giles ever again on account of their shady pricing scheme. My question for Giles Wine & Spirits: Was losing a customer forever worth inflating the price on a product that is available only once a year? Giles would have profited well over the $8 extra they wanted for that 4-pack if they sold me beer at an un-inflated price that other stores would charge on a constant basis. read more

The previous commenter must have been mistaken because I was able to purchase Bourbon County for $25.99. Giles in Medford is my local haunt. Recently the selection seems to have gotten way better in the Beer department. Lots of Founders, Lagunitas, and Jack's Abby and a big selection of Belgians and Craft Bombers. Prices on liquor seem to be really good and they have lots of odd liqueurs and bitters for mixed cocktails. The new floors and counters really make the place look a lot warmer. Staff is very helpful. My friend Mike down there always knows what the score to the game is and the guy with the beard knows his beer. read more

Generally A Great Neighborhood Liquor Store. They have anything you could want and if they don't they attempt to please you in whatever way possible. They usually have a fantastic employees that know their customers by name and purchase. Many of them have worked their for at least the last 3-4 years since I have been going there. The crew is knowledgeable they even have a beer GuRu John and whether you want to get in and out quickly or enjoy a beer tasting and a friendly sports chat you can especially with Mikey and Kevin. A few of the gentleman in there also have a way with the older ladies such as myself and always make you feel good fir stopping by. Its also a decent location clean with good parking. Now with that all being said I recently had a terrible experience in there with a newer employee whose name I believe is Mike or at least that is what it sounded like when I asked and he grumbled in my direction without even glancing up from his phone. He actually had me hold on becore being waited on because he was on his phone. I go to Giles at least 3 times a week and NEVER have been treated so disrespectfully by someone in a businezs. He won't even help you find an item he either claims they don't carry it(which is a lie) or points lazily in a direction. I truely believe he knows nothing. He shows no respect or kindness to customers and not even common courtesy(uses foul language). I hope that he is not a new fixture because they will lose my business and alot more I am sure of it. read more
