I moved to Medford in 1996 and discovered Atlas Liquors and it has been my go-to liquors store ever since. Since they completed major renovations a couple of years ago, it is even more fun to visit and there is always a great selection of Scotch and Bourbon to choose from. This place practices false advertising. I saw at least 4 of their "featured" wines showing 90+ point reviews in front of select wines. However the actual wine for sale is a different year! Wines can vary greatly by year so they are promoting one product and selling you another one. Considering I saw this 4 times, it is clearly an intentional practice. Or if it is not intentional then they are dummies who don't understand wine. They also sell beer that is past it's "best buy" date. Considering the prices are better at Wegmans or Total Wine a mile away in Everett I can not recommend this place. read more

Needed wine for a local business event and just happened to be driving by as I was on the way to another store nearby and took a chance on what they might have in stock. One of the owners (Natalie?) was there and she was extremely helpful! I told her what I was looking for and 12 bottles and no more 15 minutes later I was on my way. The the wines were a hit which included a Cote D' Rhone she had as a highlighted wine and some of the 90+ cellars they have near the wines of the month. ALL were hits at the party! Great service, big selection and wow what a knowledgeable wine manager! read more

Sure they have, like, four parking spaces that'll leave your Jeep Commander assing out in to Mystic Avenue, tempting Sully to clip your bumper on the way back from the C's big W. But you know what else they have? Rombauer Zin (the only one in town, and by town, I mean greater Boston). And it's right next to The Prisoner, 2011 vintage! What the hell, Atlas? You're supposed to be some cruise by packie that peels off 30-racks of Natty Light to Tufts kids (of legal drinking age), not one of three places I will call for special requests, particularly as they apply to grape juice. Utterly baffled by the excellent selection here. Baffled and genuinely pleased. Prices are on par with Kappy's, and there are can/bottle crushers in house. If, y'know, the change in your car's dash isn't enough to score you some McGillicuddy's, dood. read more

Atlas is a stones throw away from my house; needless to say I've been here a few times. The wine selection is good and the prices are reasonable but not quite low. They occasionally have good deals on decent table wines in the bins in the front. Natalie (I think) was very helpful in suggesting a few good bottles of Malbec and Vouvray which were very enjoyable and reasonable priced. The beer selection is not very extensive or organized and the prices are average. It bothers me that they don't carry some common beers and the stuff they do carry, especially 6 pks, is pricey. The liquor selection is good and the prices are not too bad. You can find any basic liquors and everything is well stocked. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There never a line to cash out and it's not very busy in general. Its a good liquor store but nothing to special about it. Atlas is worth a stop over if your in the area or near 93 in Medford. read more

This is a great liquor store. Atlas has anything you'll need to start the day/night off right. They have a huge selection, although I'm a basic Corona or Coors girl, with the occasional bottle of something hard. The employees are super friendly and always fun to converse with at the register. They're also eager to help on the floor and its fun to watch them interact when looking for a product because they kinda yell it out and laugh and it just seems like a true family atmosphere, which I enjoy being around that. Customer service is key where I shop. They win for that category. Parking is kind of a bitch, especially on a Friday or Saturday night, like after 630p but that's not that much of a hassle unless you have to walk the building in the rain, the way the property is set up there's no getting around that though, so no loss there. Prices are really good, I'd compare them to Kappys and the plus of this is you don't have to do the Wellington Circle of death! WOO! read more

In my quest to visit every business on Mystic Ave, I arrive at Atlas Liquors! I didn't know that there was a liquor store this big so close to Davis or Medford. Good beer and wine selection, someone really likes wine here and does their homework to help you buy them. I was in search of Kirin, which I couldn't find at Kappy's. Atlas Liquors is almost like the Costco of liquor stores: the place is warehouse-huge and it's very 'fend for yourself'. Ahh, if only there were free samples a la Costco. But that's a woe for another day! It's pretty much a guarantee that you cannot just purchase one thing when going to Atlas. You could go in with a hankering to get a six-pack for the evening, and walk out with $50 worth of bourbon and beer. It just happens when you have that much to choose from and it's all organized perfectly. Prices are extremely reasonable and the selection is fabulous. I'm not sure how the other liquor stores in the area do any good business when Atlas is in town, but perhaps people just hadn't tried Atlas yet. That's the only reasonable excuse I can come up with! read more

Although the prices for liquor are slightly better than other places in the surrounding area, I can't help but think they could do better. Beer is where they truly shine. Atlas, when it comes to their beer selection, is like the Marshalls or TJ Maxx of beer stores. Sure, they have pretty much everything you are looking for, but maybe not the exact brand you came in to buy. Their craft beer selection is excellent but fractured, not to mention insanely inexpensive. $4.50 for a bomber of Lagunitas Hop Stoopid? Yes, please. Coming here is like a treasure hunt. I can never anticipate how much beer I will end up picking up due to their varying selection. They randomly have some incredibly hard to find bottles. Love it. Even the guys stocking the beer area are great. The staff at checkout is a bit indifferent in that they never quite look you in the eye, smile, or address you directly, but hey, I'll live. read more

Living a couple blocks away from Atlas, I've been able to frequent the store more often over the past six months and they've really increased the quality and quantity of their craft beer section. Picked up a four-pack of Goose Island's Bourbon County Stout right after it came out, which was tough to find anywhere else in the area. Prices are still competitive and service is always great. I often call ahead to find out if a certain beer is in stock yet and they're always happy to check for me. Not much of a wine or liquor drinker, but my girlfriend was happy to have a few different Moscatos and sparkling white wines to choose from the last time we were there. Most recently, I even got a new beer fridge as part of a promo they were running to increase their social media outreach. Always nice to see local businesses utilizing Facebook and Twitter as a way to keep their customers informed and happy. Highly recommend! read more

The place looks kind of like a warehouse, and I wouldn't say that their beer selection is commensurate with such a large space, but they do have an outstanding spirits selection (bourbons and tequilas, most notably in my case), and the wines are pretty good too. Way better than Kappy's (who just suck at life in general) or SavMor or whatever. The prices are good, as far as I can tell, so give 'em a shot. It makes driving down Mystic Ave that much less bleak knowing that I'm heading towards good booze. read more

If you have a car, and like an inexpensive good selection of beer, wine, booze, 40s, and other sundries come here. Very good bourbon selection as well, as well as good prices on 24 and 30 racks. Just an okay selection of craft beers. This place is fairly big and moves large amounts of wine/spirits. Recommend if you're in the area and can get to Mystic Ave. read more

I love the "wine girl" here! She's well versed in all they carry, and they have a great selection. They do wine tastings about once a month and it's not your bargain brand tasting. They obviously are select about who gets invited to present their wares. As I said the wine buyer knows her stuff... don't be shy if you're bringing a bottle somewhere ask her, her advice is good, she's not just selling you. I like that. Last time I was in there I was grabbing a bottle of Pinot Noir and she talked me out of the one I had in my hand. Their distributor messed up and undercharged them for a really good one and instead of charging list price they passed those savings on. Ten points for honesty in my book! They have a good selection of beer and the sales are always good. Sign up for their email list, they don't spam your inbox and send you invites to the tastings along with the specials on beer/wine and liquor but not regularly enough to be annoying! I do have to say that pulling out onto Mystic Ave is a bummer but not enough so to keep me away! read more

Shockingly good selection of Vodka at reasonable prices. Reasonably (ok better than reasonably, but I already used shockingly) good selection of Riesling, Muscat, and various wines at good prices. Decent selection of ciders - hey, they carry more than Magners! Subpar selection of ice wine - but that does not surprise me, seems pretty common for Boston. Super friendly, very helpful staff. I'm from NH which means I want a selection of great booze at low prices... Then I moved to MA... Alas Atlas Liquors has redeemed the commonwealth of poor selections of overpriced adult beverages... I've only been to Kappy's as I'm generally sketched out by the local owned places... but Atlas is awesome! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Atlas won my heart when they started stocking my favorite whiskey after I made a request. Awesome customer service. What's better? They sell it cheaper than anywhere else! I always come to them to re-stock. The beer selection is also great. My only annoyance is that they often keep the BBC beers out rather than in the coolers, but they don't have a lot of cooler space either so I'm guessing that's why. They also have some great deals on wine, and I've popped in on tastings on more than a few occasions and never left empty-handed. read more

Atlas is a bit out of our neighborhood in W. Medford but the high quality of their customer service makes it our choice. Recently my husband requested Schweppes Bitter Lemon, a wonderful summer bevvie and mixer with vodka. It doesn't seem to be easily attainable in this area . The owner said she would investigate and called us with the update a few days afterward. No, it's not available in Metro Boston but she would suggest adding it to her supplier's "Wish List". We were mightily impressed by this gesture. My husband stopped by to thank them for going that extra mile and establishing a good rapport with us, now regular customers. Retail establishments hear little else but complaints, bad behavior and Attitude. The staff at Atlas have raised the bar in civility and should be applauded and encouraged. Maybe they'll stock Bitter Lemon one fine day! read more

Right in my neighborhood, well stocked, knowledgeable/friendly staff & great prices! Parking can be crazy when holidays come around but what places aren't? When the time came around for my parents anniversary, an older gentleman approached me and asked if I needed help. I said yes and he gave me several great choices of wine to choose from with knowledge of each! I was really grateful for his help. I love Atlas! They always have the items I am looking for & their prices are the lowest around. Their wine selection is quite extensive. These days I prefer to target the $20 or less bottles of domestic Pinot Noir & they constantly have a large variety of those. Hello overwhelming selection, reasonable prices, and helpful staff. How can I make the best use of you? By pushing a shopping cart down each and every aisle, asking questions every time I pass a staff person, taking my time staring at all of the options and not worrying that I am getting in anyone's way, of course! This is a liquor store shopper's dream. A stress-free shopping experience in a place where the woman ringing you up will tell you, "wow, you look much younger than your age" while she looks at your ID translates to me almost as happy before I drink my purchases than I am afterwards. Great selection of wines! I headed in here for my first time on a Saturday night, in search of a white wine. I was kind of surprised that they had as much liqour and beer as they did. Not sure, but in all the radio ads I'd heard, made it seem like all they had was wine and some few choice liqours that I probably wouldn't be into. Man, was I wrong. I found this little rack of South African wines, read a little bit about chenin blanc (which I'd never actually heard of before) and got one called petit. It was very good. I browsed a few other areas in the store and then made my purchase. The employees are pretty hands off, which is cool, as long as when asked they know enough to help. The ladies who rang me up were gossiping, and the security was reading a book. Love it. It was very dark out, but my hope is there is more parking along the side of the building, or in the back, cause 6 spaces out front is not enough for me! They also have bottle return machines in the back - on the right. There are signs with a posted "limit" of bottles/cans you are allowed to return per visit, but apparently they don't really care all that much... Skies the limit. read more

The other places (think Kappy's & Sav-Mor) ain't got nothing on these guys. This is my go-to place for Booze in boston. They have a great selection of liquor, wine, and beer. One time I asked about a beer they didn't have and a manager took my phone and request and promised to check it out for me. He followed up and although their distributor wasn't able to import it, i appreciate the customer care and effort. Their wine people are also eager to help pick out the right wine without pressuring you to make a purchase. I used to splitt between Kappy's and Atlas, but given its accessibility, proximity and friendliness, Atlas is the clear winner. Only reason i don't give them 5 stars is because the Massachusetts liquor laws and pricing is unfair to the consumer and unless the laws were changed, I wouldn't give an MA liquor store 5 stars. read more

The only thing missing from their scotch aisle are chairs -- so you could relax and take it all in while you read the labels. Atlas is my local-- walking distance from my house. They not only have awesome prices-- a buck or two less than anything you'd see in one of the hipper neighborhoods-- but a great selection. Tons of beers and wines that I often have a hard time finding other places, and a big variety of bitters, mixers, cordials, and other specialty things that you wouldn't expect from someplace that doesn't tout itself as a fancy or gourmet liquor store. Totally recommend them-- but I will second what folks have said about parking, it can be kind of a nightmare in busy times or at night when you have to walk through the dimly lit parking lot to the door. Doesn't stop me though. Atlas is great and they have me as a customer for as long as I live in Medford. read more

Always seems to be rotating in monthly new offerings. Prices are reasonable, and the store has all been renovated and looks great! I come here for all my liquor needs... the prices are reasonable and less then other local stores. The staff is very helpful, and have always been there to answer questions and offer advice. The guy working in the wine section always seems excited and eager to help when I have questions. They have tons of choices, I have yet to go in there and not find exactly what need. The prices are incredible, and the staff is very nice. Its more classy than the hole in the wall liquor stores, so you probably won't run into any riffraff here. The selection is so large that you could spend hours looking through the wine. Theres always parking too. By far my favorite alcohol retail store in the area. read more

This feels like a large warehouse with tons of varieties of liquors and beers. And a decent selection of wine. Although it's not huge, it has a bit of everything. I've even found some Washington State (e.g., Snoqualmie, which is also organic although not USDA certified organic), Oregon / Willamette Valley, a couple of Canadian ice wines and so on. While they have a private parking lot that can probably have like 20 cars, they do get pretty full around holiday time. Prices are good but not the lowest I've seen (except on sales). We have picked up a few things when on sale that were reasonably priced ... e.g., Taylor Fladgate port, 10 years for $30, 20 years for $50; Moet and Chandon Nectar Imperial Champagne around $30-35. Did see some scotches including a Macallan 25 year (I'm regularly impressed, the presence of that indicates it's a pretty good quality liquor store). There were a bunch of limoncellos and smattering of various liquors. The wine manager was friendly, nice lady. The Quincy store with the same name isn't so good. read more
