Trent and Stacy and incredible. Before we even settled on a date or venue for our wedding I knew I wanted to have Gillespie Photography capture our wedding, they're THAT good. Scrolling through some of their wedding photographs, it's clear they're amazing at what they do. It's clear they're both passionate about their art and what they do. What you don't see is how great they are in person and throughout your day. They're like having two longtime friends come over and hang out: they're fun yet professional, both have a great sense of humor and yet can be "invisible" so that you feel like they're not even there at all. I felt at ease and comfortable just being myself, which made for even better pictures. They're insanely good at catching all the little moments as well as the more posed shots. And my favorite part - they're not scared to get a little wild or dirty. During our first look Stacy popped her shoes off and got into the stream at Piney River Ranch to get the shot she wanted - talk about dedication. I hired Gillespie Photography both for my wedding photographs but also for our photo booth. I have to say it was truly one of the best vendor experiences that we could have asked for before, during and after our wedding. The owners Trent and Stacy met with us twice to discuss exactly what we were looking for in our wedding photos. As we told them what we wanted, they were able to provide us with different styles of photos in their portfolio. From there, we were able to narrow it down to something that fit both my wife and I. On our wedding day, they showed up on time and it was almost like they weren't even there. That is a good thing. The photos turned our AMAZING! The photo booth was clean and worked great without a hitch. They were even able to customize the prints with a border that included our colors and touches from our actual invitation. After the great experience we had him do a family photo shoot up in the mountains...after the second stellar experiences with him, we knew we had found our go to photographer. Trent and Stacy shot my wedding in August, my sister's wedding in March, our engagement shots, and I hired him as the photographer for my companies Christmas Party for the past two years. I hate to write a negative review about anyone or anything- and as an artist I love to support fellow artists but in this specific case I am quite offended. I reached out to Gillespie because I thoroughly enjoy their work, I think it's beautiful. I enjoyed it so much I decided that on my tight wedding budget I didn't care about the cost because I wanted them to shoot my wedding. So far this has been the most concrete decision I've made in this rollercoaster ride of wedding planning. I had a facetime chat with Stacy, we talked details and got to a point where I had thought everything was set in stone, I thought we were meeting 5 months prior to the date to settle all final details and having a drink about it! I was on cloud 9- super excited just about thinking about my big day documented in their style. Then I received an email the next day saying they would not be apart of my big day because the "the type of wedding I'm planning is not the style/type of event they specialize in capturing." I'm sorry, what? The wedding photographers can't take pictures of my wedding because it's not the kind of wedding they take pictures of? My first thought was maybe they were hoping to book someone that day that would pay more, I felt I wasn't good enough to have the photographers I wanted on my special day because of something I said or that they just weren't interested in my venue or having me in their portfolio? Either way- heart broken, I know that sounds silly, but when you have your heart set on something so much that you're willing to spend the extra money and do what you can to make it happen- and then after I thought plans were set I was pumped, and then that email? I later came to get an explanation that they didn't want to be involved with a wedding that may have excessive partying and families fighting. I had made one comment about an awkward family situation- in no way would there be fighting with my fantastic circle of family and friends- and I'm sorry, but this is one of the biggest days of my life- of course it's a giant party. Either way- I wasn't under the impression that I had to interview to find a wedding vendor- if anything you would think it would be the other way around. As a graphic design professional I have had countless jobs I didn't necessarily want to take, but that's what I love to do, I would never turn someone away who appreciated my skill set and passion enough to want to pay me for it. You would think a photographer who loves shooting weddings outdoors in the beautiful Colorado mountains would concentrate on being happy for such an incredible and fun opportunity, rather then assuming they know the outcome of someones wedding night just by talking with the bride for 30 minutes. Very disappointed, angry, offended, and overall just bummed. You're not suppose to cry over your wedding photographer. Artists are suppose to bring happiness and light into a room- not negativity and disappointment. I would be embarrassed if someone thought this way about me. read more

I had a horrible experience with Gillespie Photography. I found them on craigslist and hired them to do a photo booth at my wedding last summer. They were quick to take my deposit money and said they would be in touch when it got closer to discuss different printing options for the photo booth. One week before the wedding, I realized they had never contacted me to discuss those options so I sent an e-mail. When I didn't hear back, I sent another e-mail. There was no response, so I left a voicemail. We called and e-mailed daily in the midst of pre-wedding stress but received absolutely zero response from Gillespie Photography. Feeling like we had no other choice since the photo booth was really important to us, we decided to hire a different photo booth the day before the wedding. After paying twice as much for this last minute photo booth, we finally heard from Gillespie photography. They said they had just returned from vacation and still wanted to shoot our wedding. By then it was too late. The lack of communication and unprofessionalism was shocking. They said that if we had been a bigger client, then they would have contacted us in advance but since it was JUST a photo booth, they could show up without any preparation. Way to make all of your clients feel worthwhile. Then after the wedding, they agreed to refund our deposit which I do appreciate. BUT, after we received the refund check we also received a call saying not to cash the check because it would bounce. And we would have to wait for them to send a new check. I was extremely disappointed with this experience. The photo booth meant a lot to us. The photos were our gift to our guests. We received zero communication from Gillespie Photography up until the day before the wedding while they held our deposit. Brides, I know how stressful planning a wedding can be and I would like to warn against adding to your stress by hiring Gillespie Photography. read more

I had a really great experience working with Trent. I needed high quality shots for a web page I am working on. It was quick and easy and the pictures came out perfect! I could really tell that he knew what he was doing. A true professional. The icing on the cake was the amazing price. Trent and Stacy are the sweetest and most talented photographers I know: they are absolutely wonderful to work with: we asked them to do a family session for us after seeing how beautiful their wedding pictures and portraits were. We recently had a bad experience with Gillespie Photography. We first got in contact with Trent back in November to get a quote for our wedding and find out more about them. After some shopping around, we decided we wanted to set up a meeting with Trent and get a better overview of what they'd do at our wedding. We set a meeting for early January. During our meeting, Stacy had no idea when our wedding was, she thought it was in March, even though, from the beginning of our conversations we told them our wedding is in June. We corrected Stacy, and she brushed it off like it wasn't a big deal. Other then that mix up, we left the meeting excited about some of their packages and decided to go with Gillespie the next day. We called Stacy and told them we wanted to move forward and book them for our wedding. Everything was set! A few days later, Stacy called and said that they were already booked for our wedding date. She apologized and offered to get us some referrals for other photographers for our big day. We were disappointed to receive this news, but were grateful Stacy was going to give us some referrals to help lessen the blow. Stacy never got back to us with any referrals... There was no contact from then again. Until last month, when Stacy emailed us saying how excited they are to be shooting our wedding in May! We never put down any deposit so it's odd they were still emailing us, but even worse is that they still had our date wrong.... TL;DR Trent and Stacy may take some nice photos, but this business they "run" is a joke. Seeing how dates are very important in this business, you'd think they'd pay closer attention to them. Maybe they need to invest in a calendar or even better, a business manager, since it doesn't seem they can handle the load. As stated in another review, they are horrible at communicating with the customer and don't provide the same service to everyone. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for your photography needs. read more

My husband and I are both photojournalists, so having great photographers for our wedding day was non-negotiable and one of the most important decisions we made. We had a small, intimate wedding in the mountains of Colorado for which Trent & Stacy could not have been a more perfect fit. I fell in love with their work early on in the planning process - I knew I had found the perfect photographers before I had even booked our venue. They're an incredibly talented team who are quick on their feet to capture fleeting storytelling moments and, most importantly, they're are genuinely great people who you want by your side on your wedding day. They embodied everything we were looking for in wedding photographers - they weren't afraid to take risks, they pushed the boundaries, they are lighting gurus and we trusted that they could handle whatever came their way. The elements brought forth many challenges - with hail, lightning and a downpour of rain - and they took a situation that could have been a disaster, embraced the moment and created some of the most beautiful and compelling images we've ever seen. Throughout everything, their positive energy was uplifting and contagious. It was an absolute pleasure to have them as our photographers and get to know them better as people. I'll never forget the jaw-dropping look on my husband's face when he saw the sneak peek photo of our ceremony and the work-of-art the Gillespie's created from that storm. My fiancé and I were SO excited to have found a local mountain photographer for our engagement photos and wedding. We booked our engagement photos with them after much discussion of when/where to shoot/what to wear/etc. We let them know that we wanted to meet in person at the engagement shoot before booking our wedding, and asked them to please pencil our wedding date in and let us know if they had any other inquiries on our wedding date. Much to our surprise, a couple weeks later, on the morning of our engagement shoot, I received an email from Stacy letting us know that they had booked our wedding date with another couple. This really ruined the mood for our engagement shoot. They have some amazing photos that they publish on their website and social media platforms, but we were really disappointed that ours didn't turn out very well. We have several ok photos, but nothing that really wowed us. We definitely didn't have any pictures that solidified our choice in choosing them. Obviously, most photographers only publish their best work, but none of our photos were that amazing. We will admit that we probably didn't choose the best month to shoot, and we aren't exactly models, but still! I thought it was extremely unprofessional to book our date after discussing a first right of refusal, and also very unprofessional in the timing of letting us know they didn't honor that. Their unprofessionalism and not so great quality of our photos left a really bad taste in our mouth. Brides and grooms beware! read more

I have been nothing but very pleased and always get asked "who took your pictures." I would highly recommend them for whatever your photo needs might be. Seriously, there is no one better than Trent and Stacy!! They went above and beyond at our wedding and were incredible for us. We had a mountain wedding and they drove up the night before and woke up early on wedding day to go scope out spots in the mountains. After our wedding they brought us to this most beautiful, remote location and our pictures are so incredible. What other photographers would put in the time to find that??? On top of this, they were at our reception, enjoying the event, and taking picture until the bitter end. They are incredible, great people and I would recommend them to everyone!!! read more

Stacy and Trent are the best! We witnessed their talents at another wedding and as soon as we had picked our date, they were the first people we called--we just had to have their vision and energy for our mountain wedding, and they did not disappoint! Their love of photography and of working with people are obvious from your first interaction, and this passion oozes from every frame.
