Bret was recommended by Brenda at Charlton Oil. I called Bret on a Saturday afternoon, and he returned my call right away. He agreed to come by the house the following Monday to assess the situation and prepare an estimate. Bret called that same night with the estimate, and said he could do all of the work (drain the oil out of the tank, replace tank, install a new filter and oil line to the furnace) later in the week if all parts were available. He called on Wednesday to say that everything was ready and he and his son could do the work first thing Thursday morning. Bret and his son arrived, and all work as accomplished that morning. The reason for the reduced rating is the pricing. The quoted cost to replace a shower valve and raise a shower head exceeded $1,500, even though I had already supplied the valve. Fortunately, I was able to take advantage of a military discount, which brought the cost to about 1,350.00. While I was satisfied with the service and workmanship, I found the original price to be extremely high for the scope of the work. I had to keep calling/emailing the office to check on status of windows. When I was told the windows would be in I had to email a week past what they told me to get an update. When we did lock in an install date the 518 handyman ordered the wrong size. I was then told to fix it they could do the smaller window install and charge me more for the sheetrock, etc. for the additional work needed or go with the size I ordered but it would be $200 more a window. I would never use this company ever. Their updates were horrific and I was told something different each time. Then the day of the install I'm told sorry we have the wrong size but you can pay more if you want. Worse Contractor service I have ever experienced. Out of a 5 star I had to give them a 1 because there was no option for a 0. When the lady called me back to credit me not one mention of we are sorry about this mix up. That alone tells me what I unfortunately had to find out the hard way.
