So incompetent! Bought a new vehicle and they gave me the wrong set of keys calling me to come back. The finance guy is totally worthless and they admitted it. After paying him TTL he refused three times to provide my title. They had my address wrong before and were told during and two days after signing. One of my calls to check on status had an employee pretending to be the general manager. Several of the selling features of the vehicle turned out to be free for 30 days and then cost $26 per month which was not disclosed. Go to Tipton or Payne. read more

I bought a car 8/2. It was delivered 8/9. I immediately noticed an issue with the tire psi and a noise when turning. 8/10 as I was driving, yhe car completely died. It was towed to Gillman Jeep. They let me know San Banito did not put the car through service. They fixed what they were allowed to fix and nothing more. 8/26, I had to get a new battery...less than 2 months of ownership. 10/4, car over heats and coolant has completely leaked out. I called to discuss these issues as well as the fact I've not gotten tags and the paper tags expired 10/1. They don't take ownership of anything and basically reminded me I bought a pre-owned car. Duh!?! I'm clear on that but was not expecting to have to get anything fixed in less than 2 months. They only give a lot of lipservice with no resolve. They have made me feel like, "here's your lemon, good luck". Buyer beware!!!!!!! read more

Customer service is extremely bad. Communication lacks between managers, workers to customers. They would tell you something and at the end of the day they would back down. They will make you waist you time. It took them a month an a half to say they could do a job after they say they could. Would not recommend buying a car from this dealership or even taking it for an issue. read more

I have a '21 Chevy SUV with a problem with the touchscreen. I could not get an appointment sooner than 10 days. I love my Chevrolet but if I ever have a problem, I can't get it fixed timely. My warranty states I cannot get a rental if the delay is with the dealership. My next vehicle won't be a GM. I've never had any problems with Boswell or Boggus Ford repair services. read more

Pay attention to numbers. Sales guys did a great job. Management? Not so hot. Found a car we were interested in and first the sales manager (they do all the numbers after you sit down and talk about a purchase) tried overcharging us on a "mandatory" cleaning package with a bogus warranty. $2500. Then he tried giving us less than HALF of the blue book trade in value for our fairly immaculate truck. No accidents, clean history, etc. I literally laughed out loud. Then magically the "mandatory" $2500 fee turned into $500. Barely budged on the trade in value, saying that because he had "the same model of truck here and it's hard for him to personally sell." That's a YOU problem and doesn't affect the market value of MY vehicle. They have an overpriced listing for the same model, with large portions of paint missing from the body. I showed them other offers I got for the truck, proving how silly their numbers were, and the sales manager basically started telling me that I should go with the other dealers instead. Really? No wonder you have so many vehicles you can't sell! That guy had no clue that I was ready to pay cash for a vehicle, even if we didn't get the trade in numbers we were looking for. But after continuing to listen to this manager just pull stuff out of now where (and somewhere), it was clear that he did not want our business and just put us off from the first BS price breakdown sheet he willingly gave to us. Scheduled appointment for 2:00 pm, because according to them it is quicker when you schedule an appointment, however they dont know about honoring the appointments they schedule. They think its funny when you ask what the use of setting an appointment was. I left there at 4 pm, last time I was there it was quicker and the employee told me my parent had purchased some service that their Oil Changes were covered for so lng, today they couldnt find anything. Talk about shady practices. Wont be going there in the future or buying a vehicle there again. read more

Rea bad experience definitely would not recommend it i really should of got on here to check the reviews they had. i just purchased a truck and they added so many things to my loan, i had asked before if there was any other fees and they said just sales tax and that for the title. when i went back because i was questioning some things i went to finance with eli"and said those are addendum and that they cant remove anything that all cars there come with that.i also told him i wanted to remove those coverages that were on my loan since i found out about them through the bank who told me i had 9 added coverages. i had signed papers he told me i was saying NO to and i was charged for those coverages i really thought they were helping us get a truck for my family. and what got me mad is that he told me, "well you signed it." im not ok with all this, ive only had the truck a month. i never post review but really think people need to know about this. read more

I called out for two hours and I get placed on hold again for another 10 minutes for them to transfer me and get placed on hold for another 10 minutes the worst customer service ever. Had my truck in for service and I was very happy with the outcome. I have been to other dealerships where they said they did work and really didn't. Gillman did everything I requested and then some. The mechanic came out of the shop and spoke with me and the service manager was polite and took time to talk to me about what I wanted done. The waiting room had vending machines, TV, coffee and comfortable chairs. I will use Gillman when in TX again. read more

I supposedly bought a new 2019 Silverado 2500 ltz diesel and as far as I know all of my paperwork all my personal information is still laying on their desk. I would have been paying for a truck I never got if the loan agent could have figured out the out of state sales tax. After calling them everyday except Christmas and the following Sunday and getting the runaround on my dealer swap truck, I finally called the dealership they were supposed to get the truck from and that dealership said it was not possible to do a dealer trade,( I had the vin # along with a copy of the title ). Every time I called I asked for and personally spoke with the manager on duty, not a salesman! They lied to me for a week and a half and have yet to call me or notify me or return my personal paperwork. read more

I scheduled a visit to have my front end worked on, I new it needed it, I was routed to Mr Candido and after explaining to him what the vehicle was doing he actually had the vehicle gone through meticulously by his technicians and found root cause issues that two years ago were ignored, I just found myself paying for a bandaid over and over. Now the vehicle handles like it did when my wife and I bought it seventeen years ago, that's how much work it needed. I new it was going to cost a pretty penny but I also new it was at a critical level. Mr Candido and Gilman Chevrolet went above and beyond the call of duty and I can't thank them enough. The times are tough and everyone is watching how to spend their hard earned money wisely... Gillman Chevrolet gave me my money's worth and I'm able to keep my 03 trailblazer a little bit longer...thank you Mr Candido and the group of technicians Gillman Chevrolet has put together. read more

I was at Gillman San Benito on Saturday to get a truck for my son. After all numbers were worked out and discussed I was told to wait for the lady at the finance department but it was going to be a while because she was short handed that there were 3 contracts in front of me to be signed therefore it was probably going to be after 8pm. I advised them that I would go home and wait for them to call me to come in and sign, they had my deposit check and everything, I thought this was a done deal. This morning (Monday) I get a text saying that the truck was sold that the customer went in at 7 am to sign the contract and that they are sorry. This is so upsetting because they had me there all day Saturday knowingly that someone else was already working a deal on that truck. read more

Years ago I had the pleasure of working with Matt Betancourt on the purchase of a new Buick Verano. I called Gillman after being horribly treated by a Buick dealership in Austin. Though our entire interaction was over the phone, within a short conversation and a wait of approximately one and a half hours, Matt was able to provide me with a wonderful sales offer. It is to my deep regret, still feeling it years later, that I allowed myself to be lured back into the local dealership for more abuse and passed on the deal offered by Matt & his incredible finance manager. I am madly in love with my Buick Verano, but if I had it to do all over again I would have told the dealership in Austin & JD Powers precisely what I think of them. If you're in the market for a new vehicle, even if you're shopping from outside of the area, do give Gillman Chevrolet Buick a chance to earn your business. It will save you so much grief. Kudos to whoever hired Matt, you hired a salesperson who did such a great job I haven't forgotten him and how valued as a customer he made me feel to this day! read more

In 2007 Gillman Chevrolet of San Benito TX installed a new A/C compressor in my Suburban and I was told it had a "lifetime guarantee," but when this compressor failed in August 2017, a service representative consulted a manager and the guarantee was not honored. I was told "we don't do that anymore." This refusal to honor their guarantee was especially upsetting because my service records show that I hadn't needed my original compressor replaced to begin with. It was supposedly "leaking Freon through case," but paying $1040 to replace it did absolutely nothing to fix the problem. (There were only 34,000 miles on my car at that time.) A second repair was made: "replaced AC cycle switch and AC blower resistor" ($185.64). That repair also DID NOT WORK. A third repair came 25 miles later that finally fixed the problem. Although I complained repeatedly to the service representative, I was stuck with these unnecessary expenses. But at least the compressor had "a lifetime guarantee." Or so I thought. The final straw was on 1/13/2012 (Gillman invoice C57734). My car was idling roughly and a new service rep told me the fuel pump had to be replaced. Later he called to tell me that the pump was not in stock so he'd look for it locally. When I came to pick up my car he said he had good news - the repair wouldn't cost as much as he'd estimated. The invoice explained why. Evidently he couldn't locate a fuel pump anywhere, so the repair was made by simply cleaning the throttle and repairing some "broken vacuum lines" -- which was obviously all I'd needed in the first place. Five years later the same fuel pump is working fine. I have to wonder how many other repairs Gillman made that I didn't really need. Jean Davison read more

Worst Customer Service Experience. I bought a pre-owned car from the dealership and not even a week had passed and something was wrong with the vehicle. I took the car in early Monday morning. There was one person that was advised about the issue of my vehicle but they advised me to relax in their lounge.. I sat there three hours waiting for news on my vehicle and nothing. My car was still parked in the same place and nobody even had a work order inputed on my vehicle. I was very annoyed at this point because I work an over night shift and I wanted to sleep. So I asked for a manager to assist with the situation because more hours passed and I still had no information on the vehicle and it was pointless speaking to the manager because all he did was direct me to the service team. The manager didn't let me tell him what my concerns and my annoyance of the problem was.. So back I am still waiting for my vehicle to be inspected. It's an easy fix and they're taking they take their time as if we don't have lives. Would I recommend the service here nope. Especially if it's the only vehicle you depend on. read more

We took our dually in for maintenance, oil change and oil filter. They did a good job on the work, but lost a set of keys that were attached to the key ring. They refused to accept any responsibility. As far as we know, they never looked for our keys. We had to order all new keys for the auxiliary fuel tank, and all the tool boxes. read more

i ordered a tail light replacement for our 2015 gmc yukon, 3 weeks ago because of a safety issue. till this day there service manager candido has repeatedly given us the run around & told us that it will be in any day now, when he originally said it would only take 3 bus days. while talking to candido over the phone several times, he is very short, inconsiderate about the safety issue at hand. i definitely would not recommend there service department or parts department to anyone, and if you do, stay away from candido. you will not get anywhere. read more

Worst service do not buy at this location. I purchase a Yukon xl and that weekend started having problems with it. Transmission will shudder, jerk do a hard shift. Was taken for a check up not even 3 days from purchase, they did a transmission oil flush, shudder stop but jerk and hard shift continue. Bluetooth on radio stops connection all of a sudden, gps does not work, right running board comes out when ever it pleases, and left back light has not working(all the part has to be replace). After a month I take it due am having issues on it and I purchase an extended warranty. First they have me waiting to take SUV in after 30 days for warranty to kick in, Then i am left with out a car for 3 (this in my only reliable vehicle), after 3 days they say nothing is wrong, on light they mention it has a shorted and will need to replace all unit but warranty wont cover it. SUV is picked up and next day the jerk, hard shift and rest of the issues keep going on. SUV is taken back on a Monday to service and they say that the hesitation followed by a jerk, hard shift is normal because is a 8 speed transmission. Buyers do not have to have finger cross for fix on this issues. People do not buy cars from a dealership new or used to be having transmission issues. Is so sad you take your SUV trusting the dealership and get back home and realizing your light bulbs that you just installed have been removed. I trusted to leave my vehicle with my items thinking this stuff will not happen. First time buying at Gillman San Benito and has been my worst experience ever. People please do not purchase, find another place that offers great service read more

I am from out of town and needed to take my vehicle in for a repair. Service writer was good but they ended up scratching the paint on my vehicle, damaging a bezel and not putting things back properly. They left their trash and empty drink bottles in my center console clearly visible. I wouldn't recommend this dealership. Had to take my vehicle back too many times and they do not seem to care or pay any attention to detail. read more

They lied abot callng and checking in on our bumper to bumper warranty to cover our cruise control. After callling our original dealership it was told that warranty was never called and it did cover the cruise control that goes thru the truck air bag. Meanwhile that truck sat all day, my husband missed an enitre day of work and we were charged 100 to diagnose the problem which we knew it was a sensor in the cruise control. Wasted our time and wasted our money. Before this I already had sent in an emal regarding poor customer service and poor management which trying to purchase a vechicle in June. Again more time wasted while a lady with a tip on her shoulder sat at her desk until 9 oclock denying any type of deal on a truck. I can not stand this dealership and do not recommend it to anyone. San Benito and Harlingen dealerships are worthless. I am only sorry I gave this dealership another chance for fixing our cruise control. read more
