My husband and I both went to Gilmore orthodontics. Dr. Gilmore was phenomenal. My husband got Invisalign and I had to get braces due to how bad my bite issues were. It was getting to a point that I was having trouble chewing. In May 2024, I signed the treatment contract with Dr. Gilmore and Cecilia. During the time, they didn't tell Dr. Gilmore was going to retire soon. I thought Dr. Gilmore was going to be my orthodontist, then later on Dr. Kevin was my doctor. Especially the clinic is called "Gilmore Orthodontics". If they would've told me about Gilmore's retirement, I probably would've not signed the contract. Only until November, I called the office why Dr. Gilmore was not showing on my visits and they then told that Dr. Gilmore had already retired in July. I tried to talk to Cecilia a few times, but she seemed to be very rude (I also found a similar complaint about her attitude in yelp). On Nov 5th, Dr. Kevin conducted a procedure to make my upper teeth smaller. Before the procedure, no precautions or instructions had been given to me. I was referred by my dentist and going through the options and choosing an Orthodontist, Gilmore Orthodontist really stood out to me. Pricing was all around near the same through the options and my insurance but GO was really great at explaining the process to me and was very detailed and thorough which I really appreciated. My ten year old was referred to Gilmore Orthodontics from our dentist for an evaluation. It was a great experience. The evaluation was free of charge and included photos and an assessment by Dr Gilmore. He was super honest and let us know that our kid does not need braces yet, but he would continue to evaluate her every 8-12 months. Regarding Dr. Gilmore, I'm feeling deeply frustrated and increasingly deceived. I'm genuinely puzzled by how Dr. Gilmore managed to accumulate so many positive reviews and accolades as a respected dentist in San Diego. To begin with, my son started his orthodontic treatment in March 2024, and I prepaid for the entire course of treatment beforehand. However, on May 9th, 2024, I was notified that Dr. Gilmore intended to retire and hand over his practice to another dentist. If Dr. Gilmore had known about his retirement plans scheduled for the end of June of this year, he should have informed us earlier. It had only been THREE months since my son began his treatment. In order to choose this clinic, I took pretty long time to review and consult. However, I couldn't think about dentist's retirement. OMG! I learned whenever I search up doctors I Have to take into account their retirement. I was frustrated and annoyed when I received his office email to notify his retirement. Secondly, I was shocked by his lack of responsibility. He said that he could tell any detail opinion only after viewing 3D scan image of my son's tooth location. He insisted on taking a 3D scan. However, after reviewing the 3D scan image, Dr. Gilmore didn't provide any guidance regarding my son's case and his treatment. Instead, he avoided giving any suggestions or opinions to avoid complications before his retirement. The only thing he suggested was to go to Oral surgeon to get an opinion. I was so so frustrated about his attitude as a dentist and orthodontist. I really needed and expected any piece of his opinion regarding this matter because I thought he is an expert and had lots of experiences. Based on his long practices, he should have his own opinion about influences between my son's tooth issue and his orthodontic care. But, he didn't. The only think he did was to avoid any responsibility and to pass on it to Oral surgeon. Moreover, regarding the 3D scan image which my son took in the dental clinic recommended by Dr. Gilmore, the oral surgeon later said it was such poor quality and the viewer for the image was hard to install that they couldn't interpret it. Now I have to pay a radiologist to interpret the image. This situation has left me utterly confused, disappointed, and overwhelmed. I am deeply disappointed by Dr. Gilmore's lack of professionalism and ethical consideration. I feel like I've been SCAMMED. This is my first time to visit an orthodontist and my first visit was smooth. From the time I booked my appointment online to my visits, they were informative on the steps and process. Even down to putting on my braces Dr. Gilmore was gentle and was telling me the things he is currently doing and the things i will be expecting so i don't feel scared.will update this as I go along with my journey. I couldn't be more impressed with Dr. Gilmore and his practice. Everyone in the very clean office is amazingly helpful and very professional. We have an orthodontist right in our neighborhood that most of the surrounding families go to, but Gilmore was highly recommended so we thought we would give him a try. Both my kids are being treated by him and never complain about anything. His bedside manner is top notch. Dr. Gilmore's doctor/patient care supersedes any doctor. He actually places a call the night one of my children has a procedure done to be sure they are comfortable, which has happened twice (each kid) just the last 10 days. First off, Dr Gilmore and his staff are the best except for 1 person the treatment coordinator. This review is long overdue. Dr Gilmore and the dental assistants are really great. Hands down. Even the front desk lady is awesome. Everyone except that treatment coordinator. My daughter was referred by her dentist with Dr Gilmore because she needed braces to fix her under bite. That is really going well and I love that everyone is amazing in this office. We are satisfied with the service and professionalism. Anyway, Cecilia the treatment coordinator is probably bipolar. On my daughter's first visit with Dr Gilmore, I wasn't able to come with my husband since I work 12 hr shift. The first day is when you talk about treatments and plans. My husband told me about the plan and of course I have a few questions since this is my first time dealing with someone who is going to have braces. Also, it would cost 4k-6k. I called the next day and when I talk to Cecilia she scolded at me and told me "this is why I want both parents to be here when I talk about treatments and plans so I don't have to repeat myself". I explained to her why I couldn't come. Then she started blabbering and angrily telling me that it was this and that and you should've been here if you don't understand what's going on. I told her this is extremely unprofessional and the fact that she was talking to me this way is beyond rude. Then she changed her tone and switched to this creepy disrespectful attitude and I had to hung up. I don't know but she might be in the verge of retirement that's why she doesn't care about her job. My entire mouth needed quite a bit of work but the final step was straightening it all out. I've always wanted a perfect straight smile. Before treatment: During my consultation, Dr. Gilmore listened carefully and patiently while I discussed what I wanted to change about my smile. The office manager had flexible payment options that would accommodate almost any budget. I don't know much about orthodontic offices, but everything in my opinion seemed state of the art and technologically ahead of the curve. During treatment: Every appointment was quick and efficient, without feeling rushed. I was able to have every appointment done within my lunch break, with plenty of time to spare. I was a bridesmaid during my treatment and wanted to have my attachments off for the wedding pictures - Dr. Gilmore said it was no problem; he was able to remove my attachments for the weekend and put them back on the next week. After treatment: After 6 months of Invisalign, I absolutely loved my smile! Dr. Gilmore asked if there was anything else I wanted to change, which could be done with adjustments/longer treatment at no extra cost. But I was more than happy with my results and opted to get started with my retainer. I am so pleased to have found Dr. Gilmore. He and his staff are amazing and give top notch customer service. I was initially hesitant about getting braces and did plenty of research on alternatives to invisalign and traditional braces. I initially wanted invisalign because I wanted this process to be the least noticeable but unfortunately it wouldn't give the results I wanted so I found about Damon braces and Dr. Gilmore. I have clear Damon's on the top and metal on the top and they are hardly noticeable. Some people still haven't even noticed I have them. I'm only a few days in and had some problems with the wire poking my cheek. I called Dr. Gilmore and he came in after hours just for me! I was beyond happy and super grateful. He is so wonderful and nice and put all my concerns at ease. He even gave me a follow up call to see how i was doing after the first day. Stephanie, the receptionist, is pleasant, friendly and great to talk to. Dr. Gilmore's assistants Nicole and Heather made getting my braces put on such a breeze by being so funny and understanding. We fist met Dr. Gilmore five years ago right after moving to the area. Money was tight and our oldest daughter desperately needed her teeth straightened. He had a promotion for new patients in July and August to receive a free iPad mini. We had our consult in June but mentioned our daughter's birthday was in July and we had no money for presents. If I could give them more stars I would. Both daughters have been to Dr. Gilmore for phase 1 braces, and my eldest is getting her phase 2 bonded now. The staff here is so amazing and patient. My youngest is super anxious about dental work (especially regarding the suction, for some odd reason), and they have been amazing with her. There have been times she has been crying and screaming while back there with them, and they have been soothing and gentle and reassuring. If you are in the market for an orthodontist, look no further. You have found the right doctor, staff, and office. My sons have graduated to retainers and their smiles are amazing. And, this is all thanks to Dr. David Gilmore. Dr. Gilmore is not just a orthodontist. He is a caring leader in our community (who volunteers regularly), a humanitarian, and extremely interested in doing what he can to assist us parents, with shaping our children into productive and contributing members of society. And, if I may also add, he is retired military. I personally thank him for his, over 20 years, of service, in protecting our country. Each visit, from the first day we met Dr. Gilmore, my sons were treated with the utmost respect. Dr. Gilmore has always made it a point to make our family feel important. No matter how busy he may be, he will stop and say hello, when he sees you. He is uber interested in making sure you are happy. At no point, in the two years my sons had appointments (or conversations), with the staff or Dr. Gilmore, did we feel rushed or unimportant. Furthermore, after the initial installation of the braces (on both boys), Dr. Gilmore personally called me, asking how they were doing, taking time to see if there was anything else he could do.
