Ambiance is great in the evening. As soon as you enter you walk upstairs so you can't see how busy they are which is a downside. A small but cozy second floor invites you to sit, chill, have some drinks and listen to the dJ. Drink prices were not cheap but were tasty and lots of options. So happy we came here to check it out! A Greta hangout spot to have some hookah too! Hookah was great, better than almost all the places we have back home in Atlanta! This is a must visit the next time we are in town. Cheers! read more

If you like good cocktails you will love Gin Gin! We are big gin drinkers and we loved the variety of gins here and all the fabulous cocktails. Very cool bar fully stocked with all liquor, great wine list and some beers. I loved all the extra fixings they had available for the drinks, and the fabulous big gin goblets! At night this place is more clubby. But we went early in the evening and it's pretty chill and laid back. They have food too, but we just had the drinks. In a great part of town, walkable to a lot , and lots of Space inside. We had great service here too. Pays to come early! All our drinks were excellent and very big pours! What a cool little spot. Located on the second floor after a long lobby of skulls. It really is a vibe. The music was on point. It was just one good song after another. A great DJ mix. The drinks were delicious. Everything that the waiter recommended was just perfect. After two drinks, we developed an appetite and ordered some tacos recommended again by the waiter. Came here for gin based cocktails. The entrance was really cool with skulls and bones. The hostess was very friendly. Once we got seated the server unfortunately put me in a category of light drinks and strongly suggested I try the gin gin mule. I told him I prefer Negronis or anything more spirit forward but he wouldn't budge. After 3 attempts of him trying to change my mind, I finally got my Negroni. It was ok. DO NOT GO- YOU WILL BE SCAMMED. Group of 8 people arrived at about midnight ready to celebrate 2 birthdays. We ordered drinks, hookah. We were having a great time. Then they asked what we were celebrating and quickly came out with 2 bottles of champagne and sparklers. At this moment, none of us had a chance to see if someone even ordered these because we were mesmerized by the sparklers. The next bottle they brought out was Jääger... This is when all of us knew we were being SCAMMED because no one in our group ever drinks this. We kept refusing, but they kept trying to serve it. The bill for the 2 bottles was ~7300 pesos ($350). Now, we drank it; we enjoyed it. They thought we looked drunker and dumber than we were... I confronted them in Spanish, explained the whole situation and then said, "We enjoyed our night and the champagne, but we know what you did, and that was wrong." The manager (?) did not deny anything and was a bit skiddish. We still paid and felt like a bunch of fools but chose to be positive about a fun night with friends. read more

First time in the city of Mexico and came across this spot and I must say it has great ambiance and music, The cocktails were well made and presented and great service. I also tried their margarita pizza it was delicious and the dough was fresh and well toasted to perfection. The hookah was nice and smooth I had the blueberry mint and orange. Cocktails: tropical gin ,Aioros ,sunset breeze and the rain. Great spot. When I come back to Mexico City I'll definitely head to GIN GIN. read more

The place is amazing. Great food, excellent music and ambiance. However, we had dinner last night and a guy in a table next to our was smoking even when it is explicitly prohibited. I have not seen people smoking in restaurants in Mexico City for decades. The restaurant personnel did not do or say anything. It is sad they do not enforce the law and their own rules. The worst experience I've had dining in Mexico City. The staff, including the manager, were rude. They messed up our reservation and while they acknowledged they accidentally double booked, they were unapologetic and did nothing to fix the situation. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of wonderful restaurants in CDMX. This is definitely one to skip. read more

Been to Mexico City numerous times and I was trying to have a nice meal with our family. Unfortunately this was by far the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. They told us we could order from the regular dinner menu but after we ordered our drinks they told us we could only order from a prefix of $200 USD PER PERSON. With a large group, this was completely unaffordable. The staff was rude and hostile and the manager actively hid behind his staff to avoid speaking to us. As of December 2023, this is a genuinely awful restaurant. read more

THESE GUYS WILL SCAM YOU. It looks like a legit place. Beautiful bar, interesting decor, but horrible service and bar craft. Our server sold us bottle service for $180 USD and told us all mixers would be free. After ordering a top shelf bottle of gin, we were curious why he was making gin and tonics with such heavy pours of tonic water--which made for a bad cocktail. When we left, we found out they charged us ANOTHER $150 USD just for tonic water. Waiter denied all responsibility, saying that sweet vermouth would have been free but he had to charge for tonic water. WTF? Manager did nothing at all to help. Place is a trap/scam. In haste of drinking/trying to get to our next destination we got scammed. Waitress passed a to go cup (should have thought that one through). Conveniently had cops outside 20 steps away ready to pounce. Since our Spanish wasn't great we went back to have the manager come out and explain the situation. Immediately noticed they all were too comfortable (cops and manager). Paid a fine (more like forced to pay to avoid a complete mess of a night). We were a party of 4 but clearly told her we only wanted 3 drinks, but ofcourse the waitress brought us 4 because she got confused. She did not take it off our bill. It looks like we had a completely different experience than some of the negative reviews because we sat at the bar. Our bartender was extremely knowledgeable and witty! All of the mezcal drinks he recommended we're on point. The ambiance is really fun and unique. The place is way bigger than it looks from the outside. The bar is an open air concept with a retractable roof. So given some of the previous reviews, I'd recommend sitting at the bar and making sure to ask for prices before you order. read more

My husband and I got a drink here tonight, and it absolutely ruined our evening. At first glance, it seems like a really nice, legitimate cocktail bar - fantastic decor, nice staff. However, they totally scam you. We sat down, and the waitress came over and asked us what we like to drink. She purportedly did not know English - which is fine, and we struggled to speak Spanish because we thought it would be rude of us not to try - and tried to sell us on their most expensive cocktails. She somehow sweet-talked me into getting a spicy margarita, just so she could put in a super expensive tequila I wouldn't have normally ordered. I didn't even want tequila, but thought I'd trust her since staff at a lot of craft cocktail bars often recommend drinks. She then picked for my husband a $20 (USD) gin and cocktail before he asked for the menu (for the 3rd time). I was ultimately charged almost $20 for a basic drink, just because she put "special tequila" in mine. I felt so conned and ashamed, it totally ruined our evening. Don't come here. read more

Mixed emotions about this place: good drinks, fantastic gin selection, great decoration and ambiance, good music, too loud music, valet parking theft. I was in Mexico on a trip last week, and a friend invited me for drinks here. We saw on the internet it serves food so we thought about having dinner too. This place is definitely not conducive to dinner, and the seating arrangements are lousy. If you are two people, you are only "allowed" to sit in the high tables, and can't get a table. They didn't mention this when we made the reservation. Management and servers are all a very young crowd, which is not bad in itself but they seem to carry an attitude of "I'm the Master here", instead of "You are the customer and we're here to make you feel comfortable and spend your money here". Hopefully they will grow out of it. The drinks, the place, the crowd, the music... all great. I would have given it a 5-star rating except for two things: 1- The valet parking stole items from the car: iPhone charger, sports club credentials, small change/items. We didn't realize this until they day after. 2- The Management was not helpful in seating us for dinner in the place we liked, despite the place not even being full. All because of their "rules" which state two people can't be seated in the high area, unless you happen to know the management because I did see them seat some friends there. Despite the elitist and despot practices which are common in the staff that tends these bars, it's a good place for a drink and to unwind for the day. The food is so-so. Creative ideas with average execution. But you don't come here for the food. You come here for the drinks, in case it wasn't obvious. Forgot to mention: despite ALL the non-smoking signs in the bar, smoking is allowed everywhere. Not recommended for people who are sensitive to cigarette smell and smoke. read more

SCAM ALERT. Wish we read the earlier review about scamming. Also tried to scam us. We ordered well tequila shots and when we got the bill we were charged for the most expensive tequila on the menu. We tried to explain the situation to them to no avail. It took maybe 30 minutes of arguing for them to say they have us on security footage agreeing to the expensive bottle. We then told them to show it to us. Once we got to the back where there was security footage, we started to record the security footage of us supposedly agreeing to the expensive bottle. They started panicking and after a few seconds they told us we cannot videotape the security footage. We started taking pictures of the staff who were saying we agreed to the expensive drinks. A few minutes later, they suddenly said we could pay the well drink price. Atmosphere was nice until the bill. Very trendy. I've uploaded the pictures of the managers who accused us of agreeing to the expensive bottle on security footage and then when we demanded to see it said we could pay well drink prices. I have the few seconds of security footage before they stopped us but Yelp doesn't allow video uploads as far as I know. read more

I went to Gin Gin to have a drink with some friends on our last trip to Mexico City. The place was very dark, and it was just not what we were expecting, we each had only one drink and decided to leave. I am usually not a bad tipper, even when I get terrible service. In this case it was decided we were only leaving 10%. We had multiple reasons why to only leave that amount. First, we didn't have change, but most importantly he just didn't deserve it, since we were ignored most of the time. And again, we were there for only about 30 minutes. When we left the check and started to leave, the waiter picked up the check and left, moments later he comes back asking why we were only leaving 10%, I couldn't believe he was actually upset, and claiming at least 15%. I have never encountered a similar situation in my life. I was very upset, I believe that as a customer I have the right to decide how much o want to tip you, and specially if all you did was serve one drink. Plus, a 10% tip is not bad for the terrible service he gave. Will definitely not be going back. read more
