The 5-cent dine-in coffee was a nice touch and added to the classic feel of the place. Among everything we ordered, the blueberry pie was definitely the highlight and was really good. The other items were decent as well and made for a nice quick snack break. Worth stopping by when visiting the area :)

It's a crowded and overwhelming tourist stop. In the cafe the food was very "Meh". My daughter and husband got cheeseburgers with fries and I ordered a beef hotdog and onion rings. The burgers were horribly dry. They could have been microwaved, honestly. Fries were just fine. The hotdog was pretty good but my bun had been manhandled pretty aggressively. The onion rings were just ok. They arrived room temperature and I'm pretty sure they came frozen in a bulk bag and dropped in the fryer. Unfortunately, the service was very lacking. The staff I interacted with were not actively rude or anything, they just gave a general vibe that they would rather be anywhere else. I would skip this stop.

Located to the east of the Badlands National Park, this is a tourist destination, for sure,…read morecomplete with souvenir shop. Especially appealing to urban dwellers who have never experienced life on a farm. I paid the current fee to tour the grounds. There is a short (10 minute?) video available, then you can don vintage clothing and walk the homestead at your leisure. Walking up the pathway to the left, you will probably see prairie dogs running from hole to hole. They may or may not observe you as you walk along. Inside the home on the left, the dirt-floor room has a button which you push to get a bit of narration. The right side of the house was a newer addition, with furniture and wood flooring. In the old section, you will find the original homestead, with the bedroom in back. Check out some of the 'wallpaper' and you can read articles of news from the era. Yes, they used newspaper to help insulate the home. There are lots of items to see from the homestead days. I found the cream separator to be an interesting apparatus. There was a cellar which had a chicken wire mesh over the entrance. You could see inside from the walkway. The chicken coop was next, typical of the era. On to the barn, there is a broken down Ford Model T in one bay. Various saddles and equestrian items are next. To my surprise, a pony and some chickens were in the next section, staying inside to avoid the approaching storm. An outhouse is set back a bit, nothing fancy, a little worn for time. There are various farm implements out in the yard. I found the big kettle, complete with firebox, to be interesting to investigate. They used it to render slaughtered animals, and also for washing clothes. A sign along the pathway displayed typical Midwestern humor. Words to the effect: The government put up 160 acres to your $16, betting that you'd starve to death before 5 years had passed. All in all, a decent display of how the settlers in the area lived in bygone days. A helpful addition would be guided tours vs. the self-guided tours. I recommend.

There was a lot in here and great for all ages. The park Rangers were there to answer any questions you had about the park. You can also stamp your national park passport! The gift shop was great, a bit crowded but such cute souvenirs. Worth the stop!

Their was a genital man their that was very rude and down right mean to myself and my daughter. My daughter needs the aid of a service dog, as soon as we walked into the store we had to deal with a nasty comment from the gentlemen, of oh great a dog. I proceeded to explained that the dog was a registered service dog. He told me that all dogs cause trouble. He than followed us to the jewelry counter made me feel as though we were going to steal something from the store. My daughter was trying to look in the jewelry display when the dog had brushed a shirt while trying to pass. The gentlemen yelled at us and said that he new the dog would cause trouble she had touched the shirt. Her dog did not go out of its way to cause any damage as a person without an aide i was unable to pass by without touching the shirts. My daughter walked out crying. She than told me she just wanted to go and not come back. As a parent this tore my heart out. Please keep in mind my daughter is 15 years old, she is already having a hard time and definitely did not deserve this. I will also be contacting the better business burrow about this. No person deserves to be treated like this ever.

When my father passed away, his ring was passed down to his first grandson who has a son, he will pass it down to. My father passed away during my parents honeymoon they waited 30+ years to take. The road trip my husband and I took is to explore out west while stopping at certain towns in honorof my father. Every store we were at in Wall, greeted us with a smile. Wall discount has a neighbor named Dakota Sky Blue. The lady and I bonded and when we got to our vehicle, I sobbed from deep gratitude. I have NO idea what the "lady's" (I'm being kind) name was who "greeted" us on Monday Sept 18 2023, but she should NOT be working there. She acted insulted after I asked her if they provided military discounts. Um... excuse YOU for being the one who's insulted as it's beyond insulting to know my husband served for your freedom to act like such a fool!!! I found a bracelet that was cute. I asked her what time she closed to make sure we would be back with enough time. I guess even staying open during working hours was too much for her because she closed up shop early. Even after all that, I still wanted the bracelet (silly me) I went to see if there was an owner or manager I could email and see if they could ship it to me, but they don't have anything posted. No hours of operation, no phone number and no email. This company must feel VERY VERY secure with itself for calling themselves a discount store when Gold Diggers has better pricing, military discount and even an email to write in case something happens to my jewelry. The issue with being overly secure about yourself, is the fact that black hills gold has actually taken a plummet and stores are merging together. You NEED people like me and my family who WANTS your gold. Especially since we came after all the tourists have left and just like the town I live in, we depend on tourists and word of mouth. Well, you left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope the next time we come through, you'll be sold out by a company who actually wants to do business with tourists. Your lack of compassion truly costs you hundreds and hundreds of dollars we gladly spent elsewhere. We spent money at 2 Gold diggers stores and a Landstroms/Riddler before heading out of town.
