Roma Termini is the central train station, metro station and bus terminal in Rome, located on the…read moreeastern side of the historic central area. From the Latin word for baths "thermae", the name for the station "termini" derives its name from the nearby Baths of Diocletian, its ruins open as a museum opposite the street from the station's main entrance. Piazza dei Cinquecento is the large plaza in front of the station, containing a parking lot and bus stands, a tourist info booth. There is an extended length of ruins of an early 4th century BC Roman Servian Wall (a defensive wall encircling the earliest city boundaries) preserved just outside the station. It's viewable directly adjacent on the north edge of the street leaving the station. The design of station with floor-to-ceiling glass panels with a wave pattern allows commuters inside to admire the ruins from inside. Within the station, 29 train platforms mean plenty of train service, making Rome reachable from most major cities in Italy, and cities across Europe. The entrance hall is filled with restaurants, shops, a couple train lounges and a food court upstairs, car rental offices, post office, railway ticket office, and a tourist info desk. In the basement level has more shops including a grocery store, luggage holding service, and bathrooms. To access the platforms, you need to scan your ticket thru the turnstiles or scanned by the security attendants. The departure/arrivals locations and times are listed on the signs at the head of each platform. I purchased my tickets online in advance so only interaction was scanning my ticket which was quick and easy. The inside of station was clean though would say some of the signs to the platforms are a little confusing. You can find departures and arrivals information at: https://www.romatermini.com

It feels less like a standard train station and more like a mega-mall that happens to have tracks attached. The selection of stores, cafes, and markets here is fantastic--you can easily kill an hour shopping or grabbing a great bite to eat while waiting for a departure. Just a heads-up: give yourself plenty of extra time to reach your train. The platforms here are incredibly long, and if your train is assigned to one of the regional tracks or a high-speed engine waiting far down the line, it can be a massive, unexpected walk to get to your carriage. Keep your eyes on the departure boards and don't linger at the shops too long.

Jany was straightforward,…read morehonest, and incredibly helpful in planning our private tour of Rome during our cruise stop. She warned us about possible last-minute changes when booking tours through some third-party platforms and recommended a reliable ticket broker for our Vatican Museums and Colosseum tickets in case we were unable to get the tickets ourselves. That advice was extremely helpful. Another huge advantage was that Rome In Limo is licensed to enter the tender area at the Port of Civitavecchia. Our driver, Alberto, was waiting with a sign with my name literally about 50 feet from the ship! With some other companies, you may have to make your way outside the port to meet your driver, which can be a hassle. Alberto was prompt, super friendly, and went above and beyond for us. We were having trouble communicating with the operator of a buggy tour we wanted to arrange at our next stop in Ajaccio, Corsica. Alberto stepped in, spoke with the operator in Italian, and helped us get everything sorted out. We really appreciated him doing that for us! Our guides for the Roman Forum/Colosseum and the Vatican Museums were both excellent. Our Colosseum guide took us through a less-crowded entrance where there was literally no one in front of us. Alberto also handled all of our drop-offs and pickups perfectly. At the Vatican, having a guide allowed us to use the direct passage from the Vatican Museums to St. Peter's Basilica, avoiding another long line outside. It was a long and very hot day, but everything went incredibly smoothly and efficiently. There was even a road closure due to a fire on our way back to the ship, but Alberto was communicating with his network to find the best detour and still got us back to the port with plenty of time to spare. We were able to see and experience so much of Rome in the limited time we had in port. Great planning, excellent guides, and outstanding service from Alberto. We couldn't have asked for a better family experience in Rome!

We used this service for the transfer to and from the airport as well as short hops to the train station, the Vatican, and the catacombs. They are punctual and communicate about your upcoming rides so you don't have to wonder if they are going to remember to pick you up. Drivers are friendly and helpful. I wish I could give more stars.

Unfortunately, the AC/ventilation in our compartment was barely working. We reported it immediately after boarding and were simply told to wait. After two hours, the cabin was still extremely hot. What made it worse was seeing other passengers being moved to cooler compartments, while we were not offered the same option. My wife is pregnant, and we asked if she could move to an available room because of the heat. We were even willing to pay for the room, despite it not being particularly clean. We weren't asking for a free upgrade--we just wanted a reasonable and comfortable place for her to rest. Our request was refused. Eventually, the staff acknowledged the problem and offered to refund our tickets. The lack of communication and the way this situation was handled were extremely disappointing. If the AC problem was known and other passengers could be moved, I don't understand why our situation wasn't handled the same way, especially with a pregnant passenger involved. We paid for a sleeping accommodation that we could barely use. Very poor customer service and an extremely frustrating experience.

We were picked up in a clean huge Mercedes passenger van. Domenico was pleasant to talk to but I had a sense he was more of a reserved person. He did answer questions and make suggestions though when asked. This was charged at a flat rate. Our second scheduled day Rolando was able to make it. This was a day in Rome where we wanted him to essentially chauffeur us through various religious sites. We gave him a list and depending on time he figured out the best way to see what we could. He would literally drop us off in front of any site and wait for us. This was pretty helpful as some of the churches were a bit far from where we were staying in Rome and we would have been zigzagging on public transportation in sweltering June heat. The comfortable air conditioned MBZ minivan was so much easier. Rolando suggested an awesome lunch at La Carbonara (see review). This day was charged at an hourly rate. Our third day was a last minute addition. He had a cancellation so we decided to have Rolando bring us to the Umbria region where there were medieval towns. This included stopping at Assisi, Civita, and Orvieto. These were magnificent to visit. Again Rolando suggested an awesome place to eat in Assisi. This was charged at a flat rate. Rolando takes pride in his vehicles keeping them clean. He stocks them with water for you and the vehicle is WIFI equipped. Rolando is very personable. He gave unsolicited information about places we were passing by so we had not just a driver but a tour guide. I totally recommend him!

We booked business for the 1.5 hour ride round trip of €300. In my mind it was worth it. Big seats. Not crowded. Place for luggage. The snack is a small cup of coffee and a cookie. Better than nothing and was hot. The area was pretty clean but they don't service the cars after every stop. Figuring out the Rome trains was not the easiest. Not impossible either. Just watch the big board. When your train pops up with the platform, go through security and don't delay. It's fast. Not a time to decide to grab anything. It's packed in there. We had a great day seeing a new city and only took a little while. Way better than driving. Arrived back in Rome at 9pm and the place was empty. Got lost finding the pay for toilet and the correct exits. Don't go out a back door. It's a long long walk around that building and a little dark. I'd do it again.
