I had to ask her to move to a different spot after half the massage. Then the head spa was not a head spa. She vigorously scrubbed my scalp with the pointed scalp tool for 2 shampoos. And then a quick conditioner with the same scalp tool. There was no massage of the head, temples, no different tools that they use in other head spa places. She "massaged" my shoulder back area again during the head spa but it was so rough that I am still sore 3 days later. I frequently get massages including Thai massages, Swedish, head, etc. There was no technique at all. Do not be mislead. The prices are cheap but there's a reason.

I don't like firm/deep massages and I liked that Trudi can adjust the pressure to my liking. I also truly appreciate the silence during my massage session. Trudi will tell me before we start "this is your time. Relax" and she'll do her thing while I dose off. I have been with other massage therapists and most of them likes to talk and you end up listening to their life story instead of relaxing. I called as soon as I realized to apologize & rebook the following month - stating per the policy, I understood the the amount of the 90 minute massage had to be invoiced; but that it could also be used towards the next massage. A gentleman called me back & said "We understand things happen, but we will have to invoice the gift card & you will have to prepay for the massage you booked, next month." I responded by saying "You all don't seem very understanding, at all. This massage was given to me as a gift & since I can't afford to prepay - I'll just cancel my session." This cost a lot of money. I called to explain the situation and the gentleman showed no signs of empathy. Not exactly the birthday gift or professional service experience I'd hoped for. I get being charged a percentage of the appointment, but charging in full & not applying that payment to the rebooking is so far from being "understanding". Updating to 3 vs 1 after the owner reached out, but seriously - automate reminders. Nobody would be happy about being charged $200 for a service they didn't receive, especiallywhen looking forward to it. I had a legitimate reason for missing my appointment & a little grace would've been nice. Also, per the website - you state the full amount would be credited to the next scheduled appointment for first time clients, but on the phone I was told I'd need to prepay... lowering back to a 2, now that I have the evidence to support my frustration.

She listens to what you are looking for (if your shoulders have been stiff, or if you want a relaxing massage that day), she's really strong, and very skilled at making knotty muscles behave! I love that I can ask her for the sciencey-answer to what she's doing or what muscles are locked up; it empowers me to learn more about my body and how to care for it afterwards! The spa itself offers convenient online booking, it's very clean and peaceful (and looks down onto the ocean!), and their customer service is top notch. I use their Wellness Plan option, which offers a year of monthly massage appointments for a slight discount. Love it!! I hope this place stays here forever. And the fact that it's right beside the ocean means that if you want to continue relaxing after your massage, you can just walk downstairs and sit on the beach.
