I saw Jenny at the Zen Massage Spa. The sp is very cleanand well-appointed. Jenny is a very attractive Chinese lady about 40-something. Her English is very good, and she is very friendly. Jenny worked on me for an hour, and got all of the knots and tension out of my old body. She is just great, and you can be sure I will be back to see her again. read more

Got a Groupon for a 60 minute hot stone couples massage for $79 I think. The receptionist was nice-had a short conversation just checking in and giving him the groupon. My masseuse was quiet, but did not give a hard enough massage; the whole massage felt like she was just rubbing hot stone on me and slapping my back a few times. My boyfriend rated his masseuse 7/10 on how well he enjoyed the massage. We wish we would've spent more money on getting a better massage package so that it would've been worthwhile. The thing that cracked me up the most was when we were walking out, my masseuse says "so...what about the tips?" And put out her hand! I laughed and said that I left it in the room, but I couldn't believe that actually happened! Whoever wrote the description for this spa is a wordsmith and beautifully captured what a spa should be. They certainly have never been to this spa though. The "spa" is on the side of a strip mall with stock photography images plastered on the outside windows and an old, dank love chair in the small entryway. The entry rug looked like it had never been vacuumed. My wife and I showed up 10 minutes early for our 1hr couples hot stone massage. The spa looks like it has 3-4 rooms and there were three people working when we came in. Each room had a big view window that had been covered up by a curtain. The rooms had a motel-esque number on the outside wall. The staff was friendly and greeted us promptly to check us in. English is not their first language, but that was not an issue with the little talking we needed to do. We were brought to a back room that had two tables in it, separated by a thin curtain. The room was dark with some Asian-influenced instrumental music and a very loud ticking clock. After giving us time to change, a man and woman came in to start the massage. The massage started out with some light stretching before bringing out the hot stones. 25 minutes into our massage, a previous customer came into the spa and started complaining about a massage his wife received that affected her skin and he wanted a refund (I heard all this through the thin walls their spa has). The employee sounded defensive as I heard the customer rant about potential medical bills, but not wanting to make a bigger deal about the issue. The lady doing my massage left to talk to this previous customer as he was getting no where with the employee he was first talking to. The lady doing my massage was gone for at least 20 minutes. About 10 minutes into her leaving me, the male employee doing the massage on my wife left to attend to the disgruntled customer. When they returned, there was no apology or explanation. The lady doing my massage left a second time without explanation for another 5+ minutes. Our massage ended sharp at the 1hr mark. There was no extra time to make up for the 25+ minutes that my lady was gone or the 15+ minutes the guy doing my wife's massage was absent. No apology. No explanation. We had paid with a Groupon, so there was no need to pay at the end. After getting dressed, my wife and I quickly walked out and feigned our thanks to the couple who performed the massage. Had they offered to extend our massage to make up for the time lost, I would have refused. The quality of the massage was dismal at best. We were doused with sticky, smelly oil that required a legitimate scrub down by the staff with a rough dish rag at the end of the massage. They rubbed the hot stones on our back with zero pressure. I've had a hot stone massage before and know the stones can be used with light to medium pressure to coax tense muscles and relieve tension. None of that happened unfortunately. This service could better be called an oil application than a massage. If you've read the entirety of this review, you know my encouragement will be to move on and find somewhere else. This place ROCKS (they use hot stones). ;-) My boyfriend and I used a Groupon for a couples massage here, and they kindly gave us discounts on future services! They're pleasant and skillful, and the hot stones are relaxing. However, since English is their second language, they launch into their routine without asking for input, so speak up if you'd like an area focused on or avoided. My partner now asks his therapist to avoid pressing near his eyes because he found the oil irritating, but he likes how she intuitively tended to his tight shoulder. Anyway, for a bit of self-indulgence give Zen Spa a try, then pop into Tapioca Express for a bubble tea. :-) read more

Zen massage is a tranquil massage center owned by a friendly Chinese couple. Although English is not their first language, they make up for it with their insightful and intelligent conversations. I booked a hot stone massage through Groupon for my mom and I to enjoy and relax after a stressful week. Jun, the owner, is extremely skilled and helped me relieve the tight knots that have been building up in my back. The hot stones are heated to the perfect temperature and felt like blissful heat pads against my back. It definitely helped me loosen up a lot and allowed me more flexibility in my upcoming yoga and hip hop classes. Jun and I got into an intriguing intellectual conversation about how massage and physical activity could be combined together to improve one's holistic well-being and we are now working on an physical activity and mental wellbeing in-person and mobile health intervention with top universities and tech companies all over the world. I respectfully disagree with the first reviewer, as I had a completely different experience from what they described. I would wholehearted recommend Zen Massage and Spa for anyone who needs some time to relax from their daily stressors! read more

Visited this place with a Groupon deal. The staff does not seem to have English as their primary language, When I got there I was informed that I was assigned a male therapist because I had a Groupon even though I had told them I preferred female therapists. The massage table was not the typical massage table and seemed homemade. The therapist came in and hardly communicated, in fact did not even introduce himself. He didn't ask how I liked my massage and didn't warn me or explain anything he was doing, including when he was applying hot stones to my back. Probably one of the lowest quality massages I have ever had and I felt like I needed a shower immediately after I left. Would not recommend. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. My very sweet husband bought me a Groupon for my birthday. It was for a hot stone massage. I finally had a chance to call and schedule an appointment. Called at 10, was able to get in at 2pm same day...that was my first clue. When I arrived, the guy (first time getting a massage from a man) picked stones up from the counter at the reception desk. These stones ended up being the hot stones used for my massage. There were questions on the client intake sheet I had never seen when getting a massage before. I almost walked out and probably should have. I could not relax at all. Massage was ok at times but so many odd things, too many to type. He room was so dark I couldn't tell where or what I was putting my handbag and dress on. I left feeling itchy and very unsettled. Was not relaxing. Would never recommend. Really wish I had left but didn't want my husband to feel bad. read more
