Yessica's passion and incredible skill were evident from the moment I called to consult her on this project and were reinforced during every fitting (of which there were multiple!) Not only is she the most kind and sincere soul, but an absolute talent. I had a specific vision for what I wanted my dress to be, and Yessica beyond exceeded them. So then I was left with 4 chairs. I bought really nice material and foam and fabric scissors and a fabric nail gun and I went to work. I took off the seat pad and stripped off the fabric and threw away the old foam. I bought new foam and cut the new material and tried to re-upholster is myself. I finished and I just stared at it for about half an hour. I mean it would work but it was wrong. I don't know how else to say it other than it was wrong. The shape was wrong. The cloth was loose. I was so disheartened but I also did not have money to get it professionally done.....or so I thought. My grandmother had her couch re-upholstered professionally somewhere else and it cost her over $4,000 so I am expecting 4 chairs could be like $1,000 maybe. I didn't know what it would cost but I was expecting it to cost a lot. After 6 months of barely using the chairs and just staring at them I finally requested a quote on Yelp from Herrera's Upholstry. Ben got back to me right away and his quote was really low....like i was not sure if he was quoting me just for labor or something. I was a little confused. Anyways my wife dropped off the chairs and picked them up and he kept the price as what he said. My wife gave him a little extra because he had to use extra material. I think thats fair. I get home from work to look at the work they did and WOW! Just wow. This guy does some really good quality work. I will be bringing back more stuff for him to reuphoster. Thanks for the great work!

The neighborhood isn't the absolute greatest @ night, but you'll find many less-safe places in good ol' Salinas (note that it's next to a gas station & directly behind a liquor store. BTW, how is it that so much alcohol is peddled in the immediate vicinity of gas stations in this land of ours. How bout locating those booze joints right next to bus stops or taxi stands instead). Aside from the new stainless steel machinery, what sold me on this place was the Korean speaking staff, awesome since I'm looking to whip my language skills back into shape. 1 lady who co-owns the business not only speaks fluent Korean but was a grammar teacher back in the mother country, score! The more I come in, the better my Korean gets. Looks like my problem w/ chronic nocturnal emissions will finally pay off after all, now I'll have something more than perennially soiled sheets & low self-esteem to show for it. If I could find a way to capitalize on my halitosis & receding hairline, I'd be a triple threat.

Bring your piece, choose your fabric, and watch Richard figure out an estimate on a notepad. I gave Richard a channel backed, asymmetrical chair that I bought for $5 at the Alameda Flea Market thirty years ago. Since then, I've hauled around this mouse nest of a chair thinking that some day I'd get it re-stuffed and re-upholstered. I told Richard there was no hurry and I still got my chair back in less than three weeks. It is just gorgeous! He did a beautiful job on the channels, and for a very reasonable price. Not cheap, but reasonable. I highly recommend this very un-prepossessing business man and his work shop. I will be bringing him a recliner to re-upholster and a two tier claw footed table to refinish.
