By far my favorite Mexican in Texoma. Probably because the style is in the Sonoran tradition and being from Southern Arizona, it reminds me of home! The appetizer cheese crisp with green Chile's is amazing, and their salsa is the best in town. The enchiladas are not the top item on the menu, but their shredded beef is always fresh and tasty! And their Michelada is super yummy! I'll always drive an extra ten minutes to go there, and I never leave feeling too heavy or greasy like you often do with Tex Mex fare. read more

I ate lunch here, I ordered the special, chili relleno. The plate came to me less than 5 minutes after ordering, The relleno was small, round and flat, like a thick pancake, breading was soft and rubbery, the taste and texture was as if it came in frozen and was re-heated in the microwave. The rice and beans were average. The waitress asked if would like red sauce or queso over the relleno, I said queso, they charged extra. The special was $4.99, plus the queso and tea turned out to be around $9.00 plus tip = $11 and some change. When I left I was still hungry. The waitstaff was very nice, the food wasn't. My parents rave about this little mexican restaurant so we decided to try it for lunch. To start with, their salsa is watery but pretty good! Has a good amount of heat to it! Which is what I like! ;) Both of my parent's plates were BIG portions! Dad got the chicken fajitas & my mom got a shredded beef taco with rice & beans. My parents both give their plates a 4/5 star rating. Lol. Made them answer me! Anyways, I'm a vegan so of course, I figured this would be a challenge. Our waitress was helpful and I even asked if the beans had lard in them. She asked the chef and they said they are made fresh in restaurant with NO animal fat. Thankful for that! Gave me a few more options. I ordered a small side of guacamole & it was actually a good amount! And for my entrée, I got the garden burrito and made sure to reiterate that I do not want any cheese! Food came out pretty quickly with not much of a wait and I got full off of HALF of my burrito! Gave one less star because they didn't have many more options with more veggies. We got the old standby, chicken fajitas and corn tortillas, which came with a generous amount of onions, bell peppers and guacamole (more than most Tex-Mex restaurants). Fajitas also come with choice of tortilla soup or salad. We chose the salad, which was mostly iceberg lettuce and shredded carrots, but was fresh and good. Fresh delicious family owned restaurant. Had the brisket beef taco and cheese enchilada with queso and extra onions. Our waitress said, "The brisket is sliced to perfection. No gristle will ever be found on a plate." She confessed they only had a small frig, so food was not frozen and purchased daily. The chips were crispy and tasty. The salsa had cilantro, with chunks of tomatoes, onions and jalapeño with just the right heat. The lunch specials run $4.99-5.99. Happy hour from 3-6pm. Meh. We tried this about a year ago. My husband liked it a lot but the waitress (Hispanic teenage girl) didn't know what carnitas were when I asked. She had to go ask. Disappointing at best. In all fairness, we only shared an appetizer of beef nachos and of course had chips and salsa. The salsa tasted homemade, but a bit like tomato soup and the chips seemed to come from a bag rather than freshly fried. The nachos were simple, beens, ground beef, cheese and topped with guacamole and sour cream, sadly the meat was so wet and the cheese so greasy that our chips were disintegrated into mush. We really enjoy Girasoles. I'm fairly certain their chips are fried on premises. The salsa is a thin version but very fresh and bright. The pico de gallo is very good, utilizing both fresh and pickled jalapenos. They have pan fried tacos with ground beef, but the shredded beef or chicken is much better. We often get just tacos for lunch. Their cheese enchiladas are different from typical Tex-Mex. The "chili gravy" has cinnamon in it, lending a more Mex- Mex flavor. You will either love it or hate it. Tasty re-frieds and good rice. Decor isn't fancy by any means..... but who cares. A family run, very pleasing spot. read more

I've been to the Girasoles once their salsa was gross the restaurant was packed during happy hour only place to sit was bar area it was dirty even after we seated ourself it took 15 mins to get waitress to come to table no one came and cleaned table when she brought our drinks I ask for her to clean table she said she would as she was going to check people out then laugh and talk with people at bar then disappeared we never could get anyone to take our order but wasn't impressed with never getting table cleaned finally we left money on the table for the drinks and left! The place is dated the booths have rips ceiling tiles are dirty parking is poor it's like a old looking Dairy Queen type place little bigger probably someone's diner back in 50s! My wife and I eat here 2 or 3 times a week, usually with friends. The food is above average, especially the Fajitas and Carnitas. The servers are all knowledgable and friendly.
