I was so excited to come here to get my lashes done, I made an appointment with the master tech, to get a new set of lashes. I enjoyed my appointment she was very nice and I enjoyed our conversation. You're probably wondering why the 2 stars, right? Well after spending a chunk of money on my "volume" lashes about 50% came out within 2 days. I notified the tech on the 3rd or 4th day that most of my lashes came out. She forwarded my info to a manager who then reached out to me. She apologized about what happened and offered to book me for another appointment with a different tech. I meant to add, I was advised by the tech I should've notified girlkin within 2 days when they came out. Honestly I was getting ready for the holiday and it slipped my mind. I booked my appointment under the pretense my appointment would be a complimentary set but it was not. The manager informed me it will be $190 and that was a discounted rate for volume lashes. At first I was fine with the cost but then I decided to cancel my appointment. I'm going somewhere else. I've had lashes done that were less than what paid for and none of them came out as severely as these did. read more

Terrible experience from start to finish. I was looking for a new lash tech in January so I was referred here by a family member. Made my first appointment at 10am on a weekday and when I showed up my lash tech didn't come in to work. The girl at the front desk had to do my lashes and definitely shared how nobody communicates and that she's "tired of this" I liked my lashes and agreed to make a fill in appointment On the day of my next appointment I was informed that my lash tech quit. Yay. I scheduled another appointment with a new tech and asked to come in the same day. She shared that the salon had no staff and even though they were "open" they had to close for the day. I gave them another try and saw another tech a week later. By now my lashes are bald. This tech was okay but she rushed and my eyes were uneven, all my lashes fell out within the first week. Here I am, in the parking lot writing this review a week later because my fill in appointment had been moved around and canceled 3 times this week. I kept receiving reminder calls and when I told the person on the phone I had an appointment already, everyone said I wasn't in their system....so I thought I was scheduled for 12:30 but really wasn't. Anyways, they agreed to push my appointment to 2:30 today. I show up at the location at 2:30 and guess what. The salon is CLOSED. I called the scheduling line back and they claimed they scheduled me for a location at the National Harbor which is an hour from me. The scheduler apologized for leaving out this detail. Smh. I gave Girlkin multiple chances to get it right but I'll have to go elsewhere because they are extremely unorganized and unreliable. read more

This place is adorable! I can't believe I hadn't seen it before. I have been to 3 other spas that offer lash services and this one is going to be my new regular spot. The interior is just perfect for your typical girly girl who wants to treat herself, it's pink and sparkles and they give you the option of water or a flute of champagne while you wait for your service to begin. They had a beautiful Christmas tree decorated for the holidays in the lobby. The layout is very spacious. They play fun music, and the 2 ladies who were working when I went in made the experience even better with their great personalities. Shamaila did a great job on my lashes. I got so many compliments from people telling me they were the best lashes they'd ever seen and wanted to know where to go to get them. See you guys soon! read more

Took my girlfriend here to get lashes done, the experience was miserable, they had no heat on in the place whatsoever, she was literally freezing cold during the whole experience. I was in the waiting area and it was freezing as well. After service we tipped the tech that performed service and she made a comment to her next customer about the amount of it. Very unprofessional, will not be returning. read more

I came to Girlkin after purchasing a Groupon. I called to book an appointment with Kim (the owner) and ended up speaking to her myself. She informed me that she was on maternity leave and no longer did lashes at the moment but after seeing that I was adamant about having her do my lashes, she booked my appointment with her. Appointment day comes, Kim is not there, and I am serviced by another technician. OK. My lashes came out lovely and stayed on for a long time. I believe I came back for a fill in maybe 3 weeks later then another 3 weeks passed by before I had them removed. Clean establishment, great lashes and overall a good place to go. read more

Within the last 2 months, service has decreased significantly. There's been a change of management (several) and techs are now leaving. Specifically to my last appointment on July 19, I arrived 3 mins to my appointment time only to be told that the wait would be 30 mins. Since then, we've (Girlkin Lashes operational focal) made best efforts to improve the relationship however I'm unable to continue patronizing this establishment. There's no consideration for clients, techs or time. I wish them the best but there's too much competition to provide sub-par service. read more

I purchased a groupon for a classic lashes set. Every communication with Girlkin was pleasant. They are very professional, which is so refreshing for someone who has a had stylists cancel on me at the last minute! My lash tech was Kiara. I was running late due to work and she was extremely accommodating. I've gotten lashes a handful of times, (not as often as I'd like because I have a problem rubbing my eyes :( ) but this is the first time I've actually had a lash tech walk me through the difference between volume and classic sets. I always thought it was an empty up charge but Kiara really did a great job helping me understand the difference. I definitely want to try it on my next appointment. The location is easy to find and their space is really gorgeous. Its clean, cozy and has a luxe feel. Also they're quite responsive and flexible about appointments. I would definitely recommend them to others. Lastly and most importantly, I love my new lashes. They are very subtle which is exactly what I was hoping for. I love the marketing and ambiance of Girlkin. Everyone was super nice, but my lashes were awful. I had an appointment on a Friday and a vacation on a Wednesday. My lashes were barely noticeable immediately afterwards. Within 24-48 hours after careful care, about 50% of my lashes fell off. About a week after the appointment all my lashes had come out. I think many of the technicians at the National Harbor location are recent graduates. Perhaps they need better training before working on actual paying customers. I wanted to love the experience, I just didn't have a great set of lashes :-( read more

I had my eyebrows micro bladed. I had been going to get my eyebrows wax and the girl that did them wax the front part of my eyebrow off. That's when they suggested they microblade that area that was now hairless. It looked so good I decided to get both brows done which cost me $600 and they looked great. Logan recommended that I come back in 6 weeks for a touch up and to see how they were healing. This is where it went downhill. First the technician was tired and was constantly apologizing because the needle was going everywhere and she even got cleanser in my eye. When she was done I had a unibrow. I told her I wasn't happy so she gave me her number to call her after a week if I don't like them...once they healed. We get to check out and she told me it would be an additional $300. I was flabbergasted. In total $900 in 6 weeks for a unibrow. She then called the owner and she said she would drop it down to $100 but once she realized I was person who had their eyebrow waxed off, she said she would waive the $300. After a week I reached out to Logan and the owner and no response. Highly upset about this experience and my tattooed unibrow! read more

Ugh I feel so bad leaving a bad review because I really wanted to love this place. Got a hybrid full set done today (went in for a fill from another place but she said they had to be taken off and redone). I initially liked them when she finished, they were long and full like I asked. However, within an hour of being home I gently brushed through them with the spooly I was given and this (pictured) is how many lashes fell out of ONE eye. I didn't brush near the root of my lashes, just the tips of them so it's not like they were being tugged out. In addition, there's little clumps of glue here and there. Nice place, clean salon, nice staff, but probably won't come back. read more

I really wanted to love this place it's cute, the customer service was excellent, the lash tech was professional and helped me achieve the look I was going for but the next day several of my lashes on ONE eye fell out and have continued to fall out significantly on BOTH eyes now. I spoke with Kim the owner as there is a 48hr window where they will touch your lashes up but since I was going out of town and couldn't make it she agreed to discount my fill in cost which is great but after some thought and seeing how my lashes are continually falling out daily to the point where I won't have anything to fill in by my next appointment I will not be returning. read more

Lash Technicians are nice but the lashes fall out in 2 days I paid 100 for the hybrid lash experience the lashes looked good but imagine how very upset I was to see the lashes on my pillow and on my bathroom counter 2 days after I got them done that doesn't sit very well with me . I'm going to start by saying I came in last May to use a groupon and had an AMAZING experience with Lien, who I guess no longer works at the DC location. I thoguht that their prices were expensive without the groupon and I was unable to afford the upkeep so I stopped getting lashes. I saw them again this year, and bought 2 full set and fills off groupon because I was excited to return! I scheduled an appointment with Kiara in February to use my groupon. Everything went fine, she was nice and my experience was great! Until the next day, several lashes started falling out. I have gotten extensions for over a year and never have they fallen out this badly. By a week later 50% had come out, even though I hadn't touched them directly and followed all the guidelines I had in the past. I contacted Girlkin to change my 2 week fill in to a full set because it was that bad, and I had bought 2 full set groupons. Whoever I spoke to I guesss tried to be accomodating? My first fill appointment was with Kiara, who I obviously did not want to go to and expressed earlier to whoever I spoke to. When I got the confirmation email and saw that it was booked with Kiara ANYWAY, so I canceled. I did not get charged a cancellation fee but they considered this canceling last minute, even though I requsted a new lash artist from the beginning. She told me there was an available appointment was in Baltimore for a full set, I live in DC and do not have a car... I declined that appointment and she offered me a DC appointment for Sunday March 15. Also, its been exactly a month and I have NO eyelash extensions left. This has never happened to me before. So I need to use my full set groupon, these are obviously extenuating circumstances or else I'd be using my fill in, and whoever I spoke with felt the need to tell me that I should not have even been able to purchase 2 of the same deals, which has nothing to do with me and instead should be taken up with groupon. As March 15th approached we are in the height of the self quarantine and I am a teacher. I see hundreds of students a day and I am practicing self quaratining, so the day of I canceled again, out of NECESSITY. These are incredibly weird times and I do not feel safe going to have someone touch my face and eyes for 1.5 hours! So, again whoever is handling their phones told me that since I canceled last minute they could not honor my full set groupon and I would need to wait 18 months to redeem! I ONLY CANCELED BECAUSE OF CORONAVIRUS. They really disappointed me this time around and I will not be returning. I contacted groupon and will be getting my money back. For the price it is not worth it, and clearly they do not treat their groupon customers with the same courtesy as someone who paid them directly. read more

This is not a business I'd recommend to my worst enemy! I have visited this studio three times and the service is piss poor. And that's me saying it nicely. The first time I went, the tech stuck a bunch of fans on my lashes and the end result looked like a bunch of trees. No technique and no aim to shoot for a natural look like I asked for. I know the lashes aren't supposed to go on the base of the lashes, but she glued them so far up my lashes that they were all exposed under the false ones. Didn't look good at all! And then the lashes started falling out as soon as I left! the owner was nice and let me come back to get them fixed and they were much better, so I recently decided to give the company another try and have some lashes removed. I sat there for over 20 minutes while the tech finished someone's nails with the only explanation "I'll be with you shortly." Shortly is 5-10 minutes. Not 20. No offer of a drink, no offer of a discount for patiently waiting well after my appointment time--NOTHING. I had to leave because I had other things to do. Companies like this expect you to respect their time but waste yours! I emailed them about my experience and no one has gotten back to me and it's been three days going on four. It's a shame because it's such a pretty studio. But the lack of customer service doesn't match! I'll never go here again! read more

I'm def a life long customer here. Everything was perfect. They reminded me the day of, a couple days before and a day before my appointment which i appreciated since appointments can get forgetful at times. They had a refreshing environment, it was very glamours and elegant. My technician was Shamialia who was so nice throughout the process. She was so honest on what to get that would compliment me, and made me comfortable throughout the process. Their prices are something you cant beat with the service you get. They even provide a maintainence kit with a spooley, which is nice when you know you'll need it. Super nice staff. Recommending this place to people i know !!!! read more

I'm a professional and wanted lashes that are natural looking but I could still rock for happy hour a Gala etc. I didn't give 5 stars because I like to visit at least 3 times. I have been twice and it has been nothing less than a great experience. The salon is super beautiful and is constantly upgraded. The customer service is top notch not to mention a great playlist. I only go to Amel (I love her work the most) but I'm sure the other girls and great too. Amel is super sweet and patient and takes the time to understand what you want and delivers it. I've had 2 completely different types of lash sets and she is skilled at both. I always get giddy around my lash appointment time because I know I get a free nap as well. My lashes always come out looking beautiful and last a long time. (Even though catching a 2 week long flu a few days after getting my lashes done the first time, the lasted the entire time without coming off and still looked amazing.)
