I've been through a few nail techs here since their opening in 2020 but each young lady has been amazing. My current nail artist, Alex, is an entire vibe. I've been seeing her exclusively all year and she never ever disappoints. I give her a color or theme, and I allow her freedom to do whatever she wants because she's an artist! I get compliments every time I get a new set. The staff is generally friendly and welcoming. Sometimes there are customers who are loud (rare) so it would be nice to see them get checked (maybe a policy to limit use of personal devices while being service would help?) because one person can throw the entire vibe off. This is, by far, the most amazing nail experience I've ever had. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get in because I had such a difficult time getting an appointment due to random, universal issues (appointments being a couple weeks out, me ordering the wrong service and having to postpone). I started to give up; however, I am so glad I didn't because that level of exclusivity is exactly what you want during a full on pandemic. Let me explain. Appointments are selectively scheduled to ensure there are no more than a few people in the salon at once. When you arrive to get nails done, it's quite possible that you may have a room to yourself :) and everything from the client services to the ambiance is exceptional. COVID practices: when you arrive (appointments only), they open the door for you, check your temperature, ask you to sanitize your hands, and give you a sanitizing wipe your clean your phone (as you'll be touching it often). They offer you a bottle of water or a glass of champagne, wine, or mimosa. Yasssss! Now, you will immediately be taken into another, fun, light, vacation-like experience by the detailed decór. It's so beautiful the way the owners put so much love and attention into curating each part of your experience. You feel like this moment was crafted JUST for you. The nail specialist that I worked with, Kyra (pronounces KI-Ra) was full of light, love, energy, and offered therapeutic vibes. She really took her time to get to know me and understand more than what I wanted for nails, but how my nail journey complimented my life. I felt a true caring about who I was as a person. Although we take lightly our cosmetic experiences, they are actually a firm of therapy and self-care. Thank you Kyra. Selfish spa is so bomb. From the set up to the staff to the services offered, it is truly a one stop shop for all of your beauty needs. They do nails, lashes, brows, waxing, body contouring and hair. Where else do you need to go after that? I had my first lash appointment with Janine Williams and she did not disappoint. My lashes are full and at a natural length. My appointment started and ended on time and Janine's service was impeccable. I also received a lash brush and a solution to clean my lashes. The actually spa is sooo cute. There's a waiting area near the receptionist in the front. The pedicures and manicures are on the other side. Towards the back is where they do lashes, brows, hair and body services. They have the cute bar in the back as well. You get a glass of wine with your service which is nice to if you want to get to know the staff further or just zen out or catch up with your friends. Wow where do I begin! Selfish beauty is the place you need to be if you want to feel luxurious and get some of the best customer service in Maryland. Let me take you through my experience: Covid-19 precautions: They send you a text about five minutes before your appointment to please text them when you are there so that they can tell you when to come in to avoid overflow in the waiting area. They take your temperature before entering, give sanitizer for your phone and hands. The lovely ladies at the front desk check you in and there is rarely a wait time before your service starts. The atmosphere is amazing! It makes you feel like you are in a luxury wonderland. Every area has its own vibe and the decor is so fun and playful. It really gets you excited to get serviced. The atmosphere is chic yet classy! The decor is beautiful! The thought that was put into the decor idea is evident. I have never seen a salon so pretty! You feel welcomed as soon as you enter! I really want to love this place and come often but my natural nails say otherwise. The décor, vibe, and beauty options are awesome. The staff are always nice and personable. I've visited three times from Spring 2022 to July 2022. My first visit I tried the Aprés nail extensions for the first time which I liked, my tech wasn't as friendly but I liked my nails. Along with a pedi that I enjoyed just disappointed the polish didn't last two weeks. I returned to soak off the nail extensions and got a regular gel mani. My nails started to chip a week later. Fast forward to my most recent visit in July. I got a extension soak off (they did not apply extensions), gel mani, and pedi. Less than a week later the gel is chipping on my nails. 10 days after my service the polish has begun to chip on my toes along with gel still chipping off my nails and breakage. I'm not hard on my nails at all so I'm perplexed at the chipping. This is the second time I've paid $50 for a pedi that the polish doesn't last two weeks. I'm disappointed. Because I mainly wear my natural nails I don't think I'll return. I don't feel as though I'm getting my monies worth when I get my natural nails done here. read more

The appointment overall was good & I arrived on time . The ambiance was a good vibe . It was clean & I love the decor . When the technician went to check me out I asked questions about rebooking & her schedule. She told me to visit the site . I was told of this hidden jewel by a friend as I was looking for a new place for these services. Walking into this establishment you're immediately greeted by staff, offered to take your coat and a beverage(coffee or water) such a pleasant greeting right? It gets better! You're technician greets you and talk about what services you're getting today(a little consultation) you definitely don't get that at the other salons! Everything is so comfortable, down to the pillow behind your back. I had Kadeja(hope I didn't misspell her name) but she advise me of a few things to do until the next time I come in, we talked about the history of the shop, and just overall general conversation. During my pedicure it comes with a leg massage and that was over the top! She applied the correct pressure and my legs feel great! I made an appointment here for a gel manicure with designs and was instantly pleased with the service. Booking was simple and easy, and the experience in the salon was stellar. Upon entry, my temperature was checked and I was provided with a sanitized cloth to wipe my phone and hands. I was impressed to be offered champagne or a mimosa upon entry! The shop was extremely clean and well decorated. I was so pleased with my manicure and received great service from Asia. On top of that, the prices are extremely reasonable. I will say the one time I had my nails done here they looked great. Salon is beautiful, clean, and the staff is friendly. I must have gotten lucky that one time. I WOULD NOT BOOK HERE IF you're getting nails for your birthday, prom, vacation, photo, event..etc because you may get cancelled on and be out of luck. I booked for an Apres set with Khadeja. I was called the day before my appointment to ask if I could come earlier. I couldn't and they said fine. The day of my appointment, I was told they didn't have the Apres nails, bc their shipment didn't come in, and they would have to reschedule me. I wasn't offered another service. I was rescheduled for the following Tuesday. I'm called the day before my appointment, again to see if I can come earlier. I couldn't. They say okay see you tomorrow lol. I get a call the day of my appointment and this time Khadeja had a family emergency and had to leave early. Weird coincidence but okay. Reschedule for next week . I get to my appointment (mind you this is my 3rd reschedule after I have sent a deposit) and the receptionist says he called me to tell me Khadeja was out sick. I look at my missed calls and it was literally an hour and 30 min before my appointment. I'm like it's 6:00pm and no one knew she was sick all day? Oh and no one else was available for the week. Today I received a refund for my deposit (which I asked for) with no call, apology, or explanation. It honestly sounds like there's miscommunication between the techs and whoever does the booking and then they're putting it on the receptionist to make up an excuse as to why the tech can't keep the appointment. Whatever the case, it is so unprofessional and a huge inconvenience if you're anticipating your nails being done for an event. Sucks because I wanted to support an all black salon but, unfortunately, I won't be back. read more

I was serviced by Courtney and Olivia who made the experience very relaxing and comfortable. This was my first time at a spa for these services and was not disappointed. I don't usually write reviews, but I had to share my experience. I was so looking forward to trying this spa! My nails were crooked even after mentioning it to my manicurist several times. The massage had to be the shortest I've ever had, and I supposedly got a CBD pedicure. The customer service was subpar. I gave it two starts because the first time I went the lash tech and eyebrow tech did a great job!!! I made a appointment weeks ahead for my birthday weekend in July. Everything was great until the day of my appointment when I get a call a hour before telling me my nail tech left for the day and they didn't have anymore else for my nails!! I was pissed but still came and got my other two services!! Now today they put on IG that it was a 2:45 appointment available for nails so I called I told the young lady that I wanted the appointment but I have on nails from some where else on and I know I read that they don't do that so I told her I can get a full set she said no a fill in is ok so I said ok. Made the appointment I called back at 1 to say If she has time I'll get a full set or we can keep the full in. She puts Khadijah on the phone and she says where did you get your nails done at, I told her and she said I we don't do others work so I have to cancel your appointment. I said before I made the appointment I told the young lady that and she said it was fine! So here were are now again with a cancel appointment for the second time!! read more
