The gist: I met with the attorney for maybe 1 hour and 15 minutes total--~15 minutes beyond the initial consultation, received a fee contract for the work recommended, and traded a number of emails (primarily with their "Caregiver Advocate") over a period of several months as my family tried to understand what was urgent and what was not. After determining our ultimate needs, I eliminated work from the original scope. Instead of adjusting their fees downward, they increased them by ~40%. Less work, more cost?
