I had a horrible experience with this law firm. On the first interview, I asked for a shark lawyer and was then given a goldfish. I was originally told the whole thing would cost me around $5000 and it wound up costing me over 30,000 without ever going to court !!! My lawyer Never fought for me, misunderstood what I was saying, emailing, and requesting, over and over again. multiple times. Dan continuously charged me to rewrite emails that he had mistakenly written with incorrect information and then proceeded to charge me for all of them. I complained about his lack of involvement and interest in my case to his boss multiple times and into the fact that he was spending ridiculous amounts of time, supposedly based on his billing, I was charged for those conversations as well by her. His hourly rate wound up really being double because it would take him twice as long as the average lawyer to make a phone call or send an email! At the end, I felt bullied and coerced by my own lawyer to sign papers that I did not want to sign and ended up getting screwed in my divorce because of it. There is a talent in knowing when to come in guns blazing and when to come in softer for the benefit of the client. This is the worst law firm I have ever dealt with! They lure you in and constantly make false promises. They dragged our divorce on for almost two years with none of the results they promised. Eilish was the first attorney to work on the case and then when she couldn't handle it the owner of the firm, Galit had to take over and she couldn't get the job done. The judge would constantly scream at them because they were never prepared, it was so embarrassing! They would have months to prepare and show up to court with nothing done and then would tell us it's a process. The abuse of fees was beyond anything I have ever witnessed. They would stall and file ridiculous motions just so they could bill more fees. Stay far away from this firm, they are the type of attorneys that give all lawyers a bad name! read more

I had a few different retainers with this law firm. The issue that happens is it is very expensive to switch because a law firm knows your background and to switch, the time spent educating a new firm is expense. On August 21st, 2013 I signed my first retainer. Here and there, I kept asking for an update on my case to my lawyer and received generic response. When she would reach out to me, I always provide the information within 24 hours. Finally a week before Christmas, my lawyer calls me and tells me that she is leaving the firm but I could go with her, but I have to sign a new retainer. I said I couldn't because I don't have money (plus she hasn't really did anything) and was wondering what is the status of child support claim. She said child support doesn't start until it is filed. WHAT!! I hired a lawyer to know the law and it was 4 months and nothing was done on my case and I was unable to collect child support. I should have switched to a new firm (not the one she was going to) at that time but I didn't. Almost my full initial retainer ($5000) was used and nothing was filed with the courts yet. I was assigned a new lawyer, but it took until Feb until he was caught up (again more $ because he was not familiar with the case) and delays do to being near the holiday. 6 months passed by until documents were filed to start child support for my 2 kids which was over $10,000 that would have been award if filed timely. Throughout using their services, I felt that they did a good job but they did items that weren't needed to do just to spend more $. 1. I had a lawyer for a case and another lawyer was there to audit (learn from experience). It wasn't supposed to come at an extra cost, but I was billed because they both did work. That was true, but if I didn't say it was ok to audit, the 2nd lawyer would have done the work because he wasn't there. Here I thought I was helping someone learn, but meanwhile I was not helping. I was paying for it. If there was only 1 lawyer, I would have only been billed once. 2. I was near the end of my case and wanted to submit medical bills to the courts. I was told I had to do that through my lawyer now for my ex to acknowledge the bills. It cost near $200 for the paperwork for $250 claim and that was just to send to his lawyer. Now I have to spend additional $ to actually collect. In the end, it is going to cost me more $ to collect the $250 in medical expense. In hindsight, there was no need submit this paperwork to his lawyer. I could have went right to the courts and saved me that money spent on the lawyer. 3. After the last court appearance, I did not need a lawyer anymore. According to the law firm, I needed to file a substitute of attorney. More $ in services, postage, filing fees, etc only to find out that it was not required because more than 45 days since my last appearance. I thought that the initial lawyer was an one off situation only to find out, I was treated that was for 1.5 years. I lost out on 6 months of child support that should have been collected because the lawyer didn't file timely. Once there were new lawyers, they were doing everything above what was needed so I was being overcharged. I would recommend really doing research on lawyers. Just because they are nice doesn't mean they are going to charge everything and anything possible for your services. read more

This was after they claimed to spend the original $5000 reading emails and reviewing the case and one 3-4 hour settlement panel appearance. read more

While the stereotypical "cold, straightforward" lawyer-ese may seem tough to handle in the middle of an exceptionally emotional process like divorce, in the end it what was I needed to get things resolved quickly and effectively. My counsel kept me focused, on-point, and pounded through an acrimonious beginning into a rapid, fair settlement. My top complaint is the nickel-diming that I assume is prevalent with most lawyers, such as a 4% charge on the refund of the retainer balance? Really, after tens of thousands of dollars, I need to get dinged for a small-change item like this? I guess at the conclusion, you're so glad to have it over with, they know you just don't care about a few hundred more lost dollars at that point. Moskowitz Law Group, Attorney Steven Cohen was the most educated and responsible decision I have ever made in my life. I avoided this law firm at first due to the retainer which was a HUGE mistake. I found out just how quickly you get what you pay for. I wasted $3500 for an attorney, who did absolutely nothing and my child was taken from me for 7 months due to false allegations. Upon hiring Steven, I was made to feel at home right away. His extensive knowledge and experience was instantly noticed. Whats even more comforting is that you can feel his compassion and sympathy.
